What tank is that
The tank in this video is BROTHERS steel rear tank. For all the tank options for your 60-66 truck check out our website at www.brotherstrucks.com/Custom-Gas-Tanks/products/1873/
Why not show the complete set up from start to finish.
Rob, the video is basically a complete how-to guide, however it was edited by the Motorhead Garage TV crew not by BROTHERS, otherwise we would have preferred to included some of the smaller details of the installation.
Rob L i know! I want to do this but with a cut up video i wouldn't buy it because this is basically the how to guide with 1/3 of the instructions.
Hey, does this conversion mean that I can still have the side fill option, or does this conversion mean that it will have to be top fill, I have a 1983 Chevy k10 and looking to convert my tank to under the bed.
There are options for filling the tank from the side or top. You will have to decide how much work you want to do to customize your own install.
Hey, is there a replacement tank for 67-72 suburbans? Would love to increase capacity from stock 21 gals to something like 30. Also keep stock filler location. Too much to ask? Any suggestions?
Check out our website to see what options are available www.brotherstrucks.com
Will airbags hit this tank on a 71 c10 LB
no sir!
Can I mount the original style fuel sending unit as I'm running original gauges? How does that universal ground?
You can't mount an original sending unit. However, when you purchase the tank you can purchase the appropriate sending unit for your truck at the same time. 1963-66 uses a 30ohm unit and 67-72 uses a 90ohm unit. both are shown as "Items To Consider" on our website with the tank. Can I run a 5/16 fuel line from tank to the fuel pump?
@@msloquet Yes, you can run whatever size fuel line you want. The sending unit uses standard fittings to make size adjustable.
Do you guys have a video of routing the fuel lines along with a inline fuel filter?
No, sorry we don't. We'll look into doing one later this year. Thanks for the suggestion.
Will this work on a long bed? Seems like the filler neck will be too far out of reach.
Jim, it works on the longbed too. The tank will mount against the rear cross sill in either application. So regardless, the distance to the filler will be the same for long or short trucks.
Do you guys have any tanks for trucks that are bagged and dropped to the floor
Most of our rear mount tanks would have no problem clearing on a bagged, dropped truck.
any videos the use of space behind the seat? I am at that stage with my build.
A lot of guys use it for a speaker box. It's tough to use it for anything that needs regular access unless you install a seat that folds.
I was thinking a shelf and some hooks where the tank fastened to the cab.
Would this tank fit a 1961?
This specific tank won't, but we do have an underbed tank that will. Here's the link: www.brotherstrucks.com/1960-62-CHEVY_GMC-TRUCK-GAS-TANK-UNDERBED-ALUMINUM/productinfo/ATK6062/
Why chance going out in a hellacious ball of fire if your ever T boned? And yes I could smell fuel in the cab before I relocated mine between the rear frame rails.

1/2" NPT
what are the dimensions of this tank?
27" wide x 19 3/4" long (front to rear). Tapered depth, deepest end is 9 3/4", shallowest 7 1/2".
Good video...where i can get this fuel tank?
www.brotherstrucks.com - Thank you for asking!
Since this is a short bed, the tank ends up 6 inches from the rear bumper. That can't be safe. I can see doing this on a long bed. Any thoughts from Brothers would be appreciated as I'm debating doing this on my 69 short bed C/10.
Mitch, the concern you bring up has never been a problem during the 15 or so years we've been selling this rear mounted tank, regardless of short or long bed styles. Additionally, the distance from the bumper is more like 12"-15" even on a shortbed truck. You'll be fine with this in your '69 short box.
Why relocate the fuel tank? Nothing wrong with its original location.
Makes space for popular sub-woofer boxes and gets rid of the common problem of fuel smell in the cab, just to name a couple reasons for the conversion.
Fuel smell in the cab? If there's a fuel smell in the cab, it's not because of the gas tank location. And though I'm aware of some who feel the need to put an amphitheater's speaker system in the cab of an old pickup truck, the acoustics remain that of a 5'X6'X4 1/2 box of metal and glass. Again, nothing wrong with the original location... easy to get to, in no danger of road debris, just to name a few.
yeah because in the case of an accident i definitely want 10 or more gallons of gasoline planted firmly behind my back.
Safety is the #1 reason. #2 is the smell of gas in the cab. Yes! Even if its new it will smell like gas because of the fumes. #3 is space for maybe new seats or something else. #4 the original tank seems to always read wrong on the gauge.
