I figured out why that light isn't directing traffic anymore.... caused too many accidents! haha. I had a Kettcar just like that when I was younger. Brilliant ingenuity by the way, nice work. Your grandchildren are so lucky to have such a cool grandfather
Hi George • I am watching the Twins / Tigers game. Tigers just had a walk off win, over the Dodge City, Twins. Great find @ the yard sale. Welding is a very special skill, you have it under control, just like a pro. • Cheers from Michigan
***** My welding is far from professional, and this flux core welder makes it even more difficult. The Twins aren't anything to be proud of beating these days...
The shop is really looking great now, George. That Kettcar, I was not familiar with them until i saw my friend advertised 2 of them yesterday for $150, on a buy sell trade group on Facebook. I briefly considered them, but I decided against it, since I am committed to buying a lawn mower. The G-kids would not want anything without an engine anyway. Speaking of which, i would value your opinion on the mower's engine. It's a 20 hp Kohler, single cyl on a Craftsman 42 or 46 in mower. I've never had a Kohler, so I know nothing about them. I've always been a B&S man. It runs great, new battery, blades and fuel filter. make him an offer. Being he is a neighbor and a friend, I am not going to try to steal it.
bill88wins99 Kohler is one of the best motors out there with a great reputation. I'm not sure what you are going to have to pay for the mower, but if it is in decent shape it should last you a long time. Always take into consideration what kind of repairs need to be made. Hope this helps Bill.
I really like the looks of the cart, and the seat needs to be all the way back for George, he is not a little guy either...lol enjoyed the video, always nice to see what you are makeing work, be safe...looking forward to what's next.
scottsinfl Thank you Scott. I had a hand powered cart at one time, but it was too much work to make it go. By the time I was 10, I was building my own push carts, with wire wheels in front and solid steelies in the rear, usually with a rake too. Just like the "real" hot rods. ☺
Nice fabrication work on the kart. BTW, do you recall Reuben straightening the bent shaft on that engine with a hammer? Get your dial indicator and sledge out now! LoL
Bruce Boschek I don't have a "need" to fix that mower, so it probably will end up as parts and scrap if I don't think it will work out. I haven't decided yet and won't be back to work on it until the weekend likely. Thanks for stopping by Bruce.
I have a Kettcar from when my kids were little. It’s missing the neutral gear shift in the middle, which is no big deal, but when we pedal - it’s slips on the chain. Any ideas on how to fix that??
Hi George, I've got 1 question on the "Kiddie" car. Isn't the steering wheel really high up for it work correctly? In the video it does look awful high to me. Just asking is all..
Danny Walker I thought it looked really high too, but when my grandson sat in the seat so we could make sure he would fit and any adjustments would need to be made, it fit perfectly just the way it is. It is a straight shot down to the front tie rod. What makes it look off scale is the fact that the seat is very short backed. If the steering were laid down more it would be difficult to pedal. Remember there is no motor on this, so the steering is not between your knees like it would be on a regular gokart. Thanks for the question and the observation. Sometimes these kinds of questions actually answer questions that I have in the process of building something.

joel mccoin Thank you Joel for the kind words. I'm afraid that even with the seat all the way back, I couldn't fit on there.
Thats a cool build George I always wanted one of them when I was a kid I know the G-son is going to love it.
