There were definitely some issues with the Mtv awards back then, but you have to keep in mind back them Mtv was rebellious. The Mtv awards were not supposed to be super serious and polished like the Grammy's or other more stuffy awards shows. They were messy and we loved it. Honestly, I would love to go back to a time where Mtv actually play music videos and have unpolished award shows.

This lead MTV to write off certain genres due to big bands antics at the time Thinking the performance where heavy rock band member climbed scaffolding during a speech and then later Limp Bizkit fans throwing stuff at Carson Daily at the Woodstock revival. A lot of musicians would be touring during award shows. Some shows were lucky enough to get that live feed for the show. Especially if that act won. And it was a live feed. My cousin was at a Madonna show when the AMAs did a live feed.

A lot of musicians would be touring during award shows. Some shows were lucky enough to get that live feed for the show. Especially if that act won. And it was a live feed. My cousin was at a Madonna show when the AMAs did a live feed.
