I've noticed more patience in Dennis's game. Not going for the outright winner all the time; taking time to construct points better. Not sure if that's his new coaches influence. Shapos game 😮💨 definitely better, grounded, focused, and he played the court. The bloody left handed players are usually thorns in people’s derrière 🤣 wanna see current Shapo vs Felix or Alcaraz or Tsitsipas.
People are probably going to disagree with me on this, but Sascha and Shapo have major issues with their serves. Sascha tosses the ball to heaven and Shapo tosses the ball right above his head. Shapo was constantly catching his toss, which clearly indicated this.
Sounds like an issue of discipline with Shapovalov. With Zverev, aside from the toss, I'm not really a fan of his technique on the serve. The kick potential just doesn't seem there.
@@JiraiyaSama86 The problem with high tosses is that it's hard to time. All of the top servers on tour hit the ball at the peak instead of tossing it high. The only only high ball toss players who can time the serve well is Del Potro.

Shapovalov’s technique is different from Federer, but he is silky smooth and effortless just like Fed! He has such easy power and his ability to effortlessly hit a crap ton of winners reminds me of a young Fed. I’m glad to see he’s improved his patience and ability to play defense when necessary. I also like how he’s taught himself to block back massive serves whereas in the past, he’d take unnecessarily huge cuts against big serves from big servers like Opelka. Whatever his coach is teaching him is paying off! Once he figures out his second serve, I think he can win majors. I’ll be rooting hard for Denis once Fed retires!
I predict that to beat Shapovalov, the opponent needs to not only do a good job of keeping rallies neutral, but also be able to push him back. The highlights show mainly that he doesn't often come back from defensive positions.
Shapo is an all or nothing kind of player who likes to wrap up points quickly so yeah your right. Zverev was on his back foot most of the match and shapovalov did well with his returns.

Manarino really looked like he was going to take that first set off Nadal and probably should have but you new Nadal wasn’t going to make a set point mistake. Okay this totally caught me off guard!!! I love both players, so it was hard for me to root for either one. Shapovalov played some really smart tennis!!
Shapovalov is an extremely tough player to beat, he has the level of a Top 5. He gave Nadal one of his toughest matches at the 2022 Australian Open. Very good return level and well-rounded tactical game.
I had a pancake this morning that was less flat than Zverev in this match. That being said, Shapovalov came to play. He got into Zverev's head early and never left. Hopefully he will be able to bring that level against Nadal.

I understood Zverev being favorite over Rafa because Rafa hasn’t beaten him on hardcourt in over 3 years (and he was coming off of the foot injury), but I didnt really think Zverev would beat Rafa in a best of 5 match at a grand slam. I’ve just never seen the hype with Zverev in grand slams. He seems to have a lot a mental breakdowns and he often disappoints as we’ve just seen.
The hype is probably because of his very complete game. Strong first serve and one of the best currently. Good movement for his height. Can hit big equally consistent off both wings. Strong returns. Good shot tolerance. With all those qualities, he technically should be winning more. It's mainly his mental aspect that lets him down. Part of it doesn't make sense when you take into account that he has such tools.
If Shapo can keep the controlled mentality he showed in this match, then he will become a much more consistent player, will regularly make finals and will win numerous titles. And then he will finally fulfil the immense potential we all know he has!
Shapo is proving me wrong. No more "hit and hope the ball lands in court". He finally has a coach who can put stuff in his head. Go Shapo I am now your fan again.😆
I didn't watch the whole match but according to highlights, I can see some resemblance in Shapovalov's service hidings, drive volleys and defensive slices to Federer's.

Love Yonex but i feel him switching to a bigger head is good and frame love the ezone I believe he needs just a bit of a tighter string pattern for better control because Shapo clearly has the pop in his shots
Let’s see if someone will give us a response to this. I’m wondering if they just gave his racquet a paint job to make him the new ezone poster boy. Because kygrios is fading
Wow, is Shapo finally going to fulfill his promise? I mean the athleticism this guy has is huge and his skill level is high. Yet he continues to choke but not in this match. I wish he would give up on that jumping backhand. All he does is hit hard to the service line. Rarely hit deep. Learn to hit a high backhand like Fed and make winners out of it. I can see where you might want to jump on a service return but on a ground stroke, it just sets you up to lose the point.
I don’t have a problem with his jumping backhands how many did he hit this game maybe two? His main issue is his ball toss and hitting to many errors and I suppose the mental side plays a factor as well. He is on the cusp he has gotten better defensive game return and net play has drastically improved.

@@Entername-md1ev yeah but the first two matchups where just luck of the draw and he pulled Kwon + another guy that is ranked like 50th ish then Opelka around 25-30 I believe zverev #3 then Nadal who is arguably the best the tourney has to offer then his potential semifinal is easier then his last two matches supposedly but still could be berretini #7 and concluding with probably either #2 medvedev or #4 tsitpas. That’s four top 10 players to beat + a seeded player and two guys right around the top 50 no easy matches to be seen. For comparison sake zverev faced radu albot before facing shapo. Albot was a qualifier while shapo was stuck Facing like the world number 25 and no one even close to being ranked #100.
The way Shampoo danced around the court to always get the shot he wanted, Breathe Taking! I wish he always played that Aggressive & Confident!! 🤟🥳
Should probably think twice. Because that can lead to more losses than you would want.
2:32, this is what drives people nuts about Shapovalov. What a photogenic jumping SHBH! But the shot went right back to Zverz near the center while he put himself completely out of position to return Zverez's shot. The tactical acuity of Shapovalov can really really use some enhancement.
I've noticed more patience in Dennis's game. Not going for the outright winner all the time; taking time to construct points better. Not sure if that's his new coaches influence. Andy use to do the same thing. If he becomes more consistent on his serve & utilizes his net game more he can be a real force. Will have to have all this going for him against Rafa, but, it's there for the taking. Good Luck Dennis!!! 🍁
Shapos game 😮💨 definitely better, grounded, focused, and he played the court. The bloody left handed players are usually thorns in people’s derrière 🤣 wanna see current Shapo vs Felix or Alcaraz or Tsitsipas.
shapov’s high jump backhand is 🔥
Shapo needs to keep the Federer style block return for the rest of the season. Worked beautifully against Zverev here.
People are probably going to disagree with me on this, but Sascha and Shapo have major issues with their serves. Sascha tosses the ball to heaven and Shapo tosses the ball right above his head. Shapo was constantly catching his toss, which clearly indicated this.
Nope, you're totally right. Even BG was saying this during the match.
Shapo’s FOREHAND HAS IMPROVED with his new coach. If he continues to play like this, he could make it to the Finals!
Alex looked overheated. He normally runs everything down.
Denis' forehand is insane.
Stop with the excuses. Abuserev was absolutely pathetic as usual. Couldn’t even make it to a top ten player.
@@ryoshusuke2108 he won a Nitto atp you clown. Stop replying to everyone and hating on someone who is innocent
@@oapilef9911 Nitto ATP Nitto ATP. Shut the hell up you stupid fangirl. Even Abuserev himself wants a GS title. And he failed, unsurprisingly. He could win another Nitto ATP, but will never win a slam.
He’s already getting surpassed by the other nextgens.
@@oapilef9911 who is innocent, hahahahah! Nice to know domestic abusers have a defender on here.
@@oapilef9911 , Ryo really needs to take all this energy he has and do some actual good.
Rafa is waiting
@Carys Parks very true
Wow he has formed his energy into full body turning preemptive striking shots. Didnt think he would be this guy usually being wild but this is the style, federer style taking root in this open.
Shapovalov often seems too jumpy to me. But lately, he has somehow lowered the UE. If he keeps playing this way, he will be Top 6-7 very soon.
2:38 I'm sorry but that was sick
Kid got the Federer jumping backhand
What a crappy handshake from Abuserev as well. Only greets the opponent well when he wins. Friggin narcissist.
Totally, and there were plenty of signs even before the horrible disclosure of his abuse of his girlfriend.
Stop spamming the entire comment section, you pathetic little failure. There is no evidence of anything ever happening aside from the fact that his ex is a bitter sore loser whom felt the need to resort to false allegations once she couldn't get her way

Great player
Denis was on fire. That's what you got to do. Take down the tallest trees with percision.

Why do they make theese videos with a faster playback speed?
pretty huge win for Shap. Zev always the talented player not up to par today...was not expecting a straight set loss. But Shap pulled it out...got his head to match his talent and beat a great opponent! Nice work Shap!!! Now lets go and win a slam!!!
Kub valo laglo kala ta
So far the best and most solid performance of Shapo 🇨🇦
absolutely love Shapovalov's one handed backhand
SHAPO is on fire in this tournament!
This is how he has to play against Nadal. Love both Zverev and Shapo but the better player today won.
Yeah if shapo eliminates the double faults he will for sure give Nadal a run for his money. Manarino really looked like he was going to take that first set off Nadal and probably should have but you new Nadal wasn’t going to make a set point mistake. From their it looked like manarino gave up. In other words hard to tell what form Nadal is in but certainly not peak from a couple of years ago.
Always a damn pleasure to see the most hated woman beater lose. What a great match!
Thank you for Flume remix in period between matches😊👍
Nice to watch again a single backhand
Can’t believe that people thought Abuserev could win here. The guy hasn’t even made the finals here and they still decide to put him on Rod Laver for some of his matches.
Glad AO had the common sense to put a real champion like Rafa on there instead of a pathetic loser like Abuserev!
Hope this was Abuserev’s last AO before he gets barred from the tour.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
So satisfying to watch him get beat, fair and square, sans violence - maybe he can learn from that 🙄
Abuserev🤣🤣🤣Nicely done
Whoever said this would be “the biggest win of his career” is off a perc. They forget the time he beat nadal when he was a teenager?
I think they meant at a Grand Slam
Don’t think Zverev did terrible, shapo just outplayed him with a amazing tennis, very aggressive but now he learned how to defend himself. Playing like this, shapo will be in atp finals this year!
Great work Dennis 🏆🏆🏆 🇫🇷 always loved your game keep going
fantastic match for shapovalop..congratulation to the winner.
I had a pancake this morning that was less flat than Zverev in this match. That being said, Shapovalov came to play. He got into Zverev's head early and never left. Hopefully he will be able to bring that level against Nadal.
I'm not going to get ahead of things, but when I heard the phrase "new coach" for Shapovalov, I thought he might actually have more than fluke wins coming up. Definitely looked more like the Denis I've been hoping he'd realize.
Zev so happy Djokovic eliminated by the Australia but now sent packing by a 14th seed in straight sets. Such are the fortunes of life.
I was busy watching the Rafa match, but damn did I miss a beat down of the infamous woman beater!
Denis has officially gained my respect alongside Felix for thrashing this criminal!
From SHAPOOP to SHAWHOOP!
Zverev isn't a criminal. It's only a claim his gf made. Plus she had no evidence he really did. Probs wanted money or something
@@oapilef9911 People like you make the world a fucking shitty place
@@oapilef9911 Plenty of witnesses, including people close to Zverev who initially backed reconciliation until they saw how he kept beating and emotionally abusing her. But carry on defending the indefensible.

@@ileanasantamaria2364 Would you like to show me an article?
Congrats Dennis fine match and win
Where is peng shuai?
2:17 Imagine having all this open court and hitting the ball down the line...
Vamoooooooos Shapooovalooov!!!
DS is on fire! 💥💥💥👏👏👏
If Shapo can keep the controlled mentality he showed in this match, then he will become a much more consistent player, will regularly make finals and will win numerous titles. And then he will finally fulfil the immense potential we all know he has!
Very cold hands shaking from Zverev. As usual. He thinks he is the best.Good for Shapo.Bravo.Two Russians...playing for Canada and Germany
That's right, master, win this tournament, for Djokovic
Where is Peng tho
Shapo's reaction time is beyond belief
Solid game, Congrats.
Thank you so much

Shapo is proving me wrong. No more "hit and hope the ball lands in court". He finally has a coach who can put stuff in his head. Go Shapo I am now your fan again.😆
Doing shapovalov dirty with that thumbnail 😂
I didn't watch the whole match but according to highlights, I can see some resemblance in Shapovalov's service hidings, drive volleys and defensive slices to Federer's.
Great game Denis you neiled Zeverev and also Nadal even though you lost to Nadal but nobody went up to 5 games with nadal well done, for sure you can fill you are at the same level as they are👋👋💥💥
Love Yonex but i feel him switching to a bigger head is good and frame love the ezone I believe he needs just a bit of a tighter string pattern for better control because Shapo clearly has the pop in his shots
Is he switching to new ezone now? I feel that his strokes are more forgiving and powerful.
I always said Zverev is a good player but not a big one. Dominate his service (not easy to do) and you have 75% of the match in your pocket.
