Not all people retire
Some just die
And many people (especially men) die within a year of retirement.
Yes.. and their family wonders how a 500lb could die…
You're right. 20% of people in the US don't make it to 70 (the age you get 100% of retirement income). That's around 66 million people that die after coming home from their work places in the US.
PRECISELY! Sad but very very true. No plans just sit, rot and die
What if you don't retire
"Golden years aren't that gold"~ gold line
"The golden years aren't so golden". This is so true after watching my mom and dad after retirement. All the plans they had never happened after my mom got cancer.
I sadly can relate to this
She’s absolutely right! I’ve never stayed at a job I hated and I am so grateful for that.
I have, golden hand cuffs. Its always a trade off.

I do a job which I dont like, but my parents have taught me I have no choice. Have they taught me wrong about that?
@@sparky8197 Yes they have because it's impossible for you to not have a choice when everyone (even animals) have a choice.
I love these interviews, it's really interesting to know the point of view of people who have already gone through a lot but there is one thing that annoys me that is found in 95% of the videos (obviously I'm not just talking about this channel). Each time the answer to the question "what advice do you want to give?" people always respond with: do what you like. Luckily you told me that because I was thinking of doing what I don't like lol or many other times they respond with: follow your passion. Now, the vast majority of people, especially young people, don't know what they like and don't have a passion and this rhetoric of "life is too short to do something you don't like" has really got me dead tired. Who pays the bills? Who pays the rent? Very few have the time and money to jump from job to job in search of the perfect dream. Want to know something? I'm almost thirty, I hate my job and it may sound sad but I've never had any passions or dreams. The only thing I like is being able to relax, occasionally being able to go on a trip and buy something I like and maybe one day be able to buy a house. All these things need money and who pays me if I keep changing jobs because I can't find what I like?
Edit: I hate to be so negative but I wasted my twenties in constant search for something to engage me, I never focused on anything in particular because I didn't like anything. Now the years have passed, I have no specialization, I wasted my parents' sacrifices, my resume is a disaster. I'm trying to fix everything but it's not easy. Peace
Real talk. I hope people take the time to read your comment, because it's so true....
When you find something you enjoy, and it turns into a job, that's all it becomes... a job. The passion gets sucked out of it over time. Work hard, and find a hobby in your spare time that you're passionate about, and you'll appreciate it so much more.
I'm 16, and I have no idea what course I want to pursue in college. I don't have any passions, my only dream is to find a job that I like, and that pays relatively well.
College isn't always the answer. I enjoy working with my hands. It's you who has to find the path. I took a 4 year apprenticeship in the carpenter's union and it's the best decision I've made. I got paid the whole time I was learning and have zero college debt to pay.
It's pays very well although I'll never be rich unless I take the risk of starting my own company, I have a very comfortable life
@@Namenotneeded470 you’re absolutely right, but even if I don’t go to college, I still don’t know what I want to do in the future.
@sofia You're only 16... don't be so serious. Have fun for now and it'll come to you. You've got plenty of time, trust me.
I was over stressing about that at 16 as well.
Now at 44 I see how silly it was.
Live life have a good time and don't be afraid to try new things. I started my apprenticeship in carpentry at 36. You have time
Golden years is a lie for all but a few if any. The Golden years are your youth, the older years are when you have greater appreciation for your youth.
Not if you're living with schizoid, insane parents, stuck in a broken home, and you're not academically gifted.
The best advice I'd give young folks is to choose their parents carefully.
Be grateful to God 4 the Gift of life, Don t take it 4 granted, every mornin is a blessing, dont be slow to thank God 4 the food, clothes, water, air, willing to walk, talk, see...... Imassurable blessing we have, be GRATEFUL 🙏💙
@rz Good idea-!!!
Is that tax deductible?🤔
Your youth is just a product of your environment. 30s you are making your own ideas and path.

She is sharp and confident! She has gold advice.
Great advice. My son died at 23! Go live!
My father died at 27 from a massive heart attack. 😢😢😢
Never turn down once in a life opportunities that can brighten your life. Saying you will do it one day, when the time is right, means, you will never do it. Do it now when you are young, as you age, you will find it nearly impossible or impossible to leave your comfort zone.
My husband and I had so many plans for our retirement. We wanted to live on 10 ten acres, grow our own food, have hobbies, grow old together. We retired, moved and my dear, dear beloved died only 4 yrs into retirement. He had put everything off until he got social security. He was slowly dying of pancreatic cancer, but we didn't even know he was, until he was 2 months away from death. I miss him so much.
He got one or two social security checks and died. Don't put things off too long. The clock is ticking.
When to retire is a hard decision for most middle class (and below) since nobody knows how much time (and therefore how much $$$ they need) they have left.
Wow….
My heartfelt sympathy to you.
Time doesn't wait for no man
I’m sorry you lost your husband. I hope you find happiness and peace.
*"The golden years are not that golden."*
Pure wisdom from someone whose lived. What people consider your peak years might not pan out like you expect them to, so just live for today instead of tomorrow.

This woman gives some of the best advice in this series.
Gave my niece the same advice. If you find passion in something do it as soon as you do, find put it off as passion’s change later in life and so does motivation.
Thank God we still have real truth and honesty! ❤
Absolutely!! I was already a nurse and wanted to return to school to become a dermatologist, badly. My life unexpectedly changed overnight and that was then end of med school and all the rest of my hopes and dreams. Don't let anyone get talk you out of your dreams when young and get a good education so you can support yourself and any dependants should life throw you an unexpected curveball, too.
Life has many sudden changes, twists and turns and in life we constantly have to adjust accordingly, fight and work so very hard to get through them and you will get through them. Don't let 'unexpected events' change who you are at your core.
Words of wisdom! Needed this message today. Thank you!

When I was a home health aide, I took care of a doctor that worked long hours and had no time for a personal life. He planned on spending his retirement traveling and doing everything he wanted to do but didn’t have time for when he was a doctor. He had a massive stroke 3 days after he retired and right before a 2 month long trip to Europe. Now He needs 24 hour care and can do very little on his own. He’s stuck at home most of the time. Don’t wait till you’re retired to live your life!

Lately I’ve been thinking about how quickly my 20s flew by and how so much time was wasted not actually living my life. Well into the next decade I don’t want to feel trapped in the same situation.

I wish it was this easy :// I have tried multiple professional paths / jobs to find something I enjoy but never did, right now I can't afford to keep changing anymore, as we grow responsibilities grow. Unfortunately, finding work we truly enjoy seem like a matter of luck, and the odds are stacked against us.
Unfortunately, I don't like any jobs.
Hahaha!

I like some jobs, but I can't just get them without spending 10's of thousands and over 4 years, with zero guarantee of successfully finding a career in this economy. It seems endlessly bleak and barely anyone will have opportunities to young people anymore. Everything in our country is being outsourced and we are replacing our own citizens for cheap labor, this has been going on for decades now with no end in sight. I wish I was never born.
Go. For. It.!!!! Don’t wait. See you all in 2023🎉❤🥳🥳🥳
Really, all very good but go say that to people who don't have the choice to quit a job they don't like or makes them sick!

This lady gave great advice
I've seen so many people who realized after one year or less that the career/training/major they had chosen wasn't a good fit but wouldn't change because "they'd be wasting a year". Oh, so you'd rather waste forty?
It's your life. The whole point is to live it.
The golden years are full of bad moments but have experiences of joy attached to it. The way to be golden and have success is believing in Jesus and doing what is necessary to achieve and believe in God. We can achieve our goals, hating life is a start but the actions and spiritual mindset we have determines the journey.
Can love the job but dislike the fake people in it.. Get out of it. It's never worth spending time and energy with the wrong people
I love all of this amazing knowledge!
I love her advise ..paying attention..
You don’t know what next year hold, remember 2020! Go live your life give it to God who created this precious gift!
This is a great channel. This guy is doing something purposeful unlike the many short makers.
Outstanding advice!❤
THANK YOU
People tell me to put off everything until retirement but the problem is you never know when you’ll die, and if you live, you’re body will have health problems. The concept of “get a good job and retire at 65, then do what you want later” is dumb in my opinion. You work a super stressful job for 40 years, and use that money to live in a expensive nursing home. After retiring that already stressful job, you die from a heart attack. Sit back and enjoy the fruit of your labour before it spoils.
His calm voice ❤
Better advice is to never get so attached to a job that you have feelings of hatred towards it. Know where you stand in society as far as education and skills and accept that or pursue qualification. If you’re well off, don’t have responsibilities towards others, or don’t care if you live under a bridge, then sure take this videos advice.
So I got this job offer and I already feel like I'm going to hate it, after reading the reviews on indeed of on how stressful it is, I'm even more on the fence about going for it. The only thing is that it pays well and has good benefits and will provide me with a life style I'd like.
On the other hand the job I have right now, I love but it doesn't pay as much and doesn't provide job security. I can use some tips or advice on what to do, if anyone would like to offer one. lo
Smart lady
Amazing!
She is very wise.
Wow what an advice👏❤️
Love your channel ❤.
and also i fear growing old..
I did too, but it's not so bad if you take care of yourself. Trust me. I do everything I've always done and hope to keep doing them.
My advice is just don't sit around the house all day and you'll be good to go 👍

Easy for this woman to say, since she made the right choice
I don’t like my job. I’ve been there 17 years. I get 9 weeks pto, I work 4 days a week. Every other week I take a day off. Plus I take a few full weeks a year. I only have to work about 135 days a year. I plan on retiring at 55. Put $$600 a check in stocks and 401k. There are benefits to sticking around.
Yes indeed!
She has a good point
Golden ❤
She’s right
Beautiful lady
Not to say this lady is wrong but it's easy to give advice when you have already lived a life full of mistakes...being young is super hard for most people, of course we all want to enjoy every day and travel and find our dream jobs but many of us dont know exactly what we want yet and i think is more important to learn to live with balance than trying to do everything right from the very start in terms of "i dont want to have regrets when im old" life is beautiful and really really hard (unfair too) so live to learn and experience....🎉
Facts
Oh yeah let's go ahead and find a good job waiting for us right around the corner.
I get what’s she’s saying but think and plan. We all need money to live especially in this economy.
The confirmation beep at the end.
Amen!
Exactly
Remember when people retired in their 60’s and the life span was 67 years, so SS was only supposed to support folks for 2 years? We are in our mid 50’s and we will not be able to retire until the age of 70. I already have severe chronic pain and back surgery. Like she said, the Golden Years aren’t so golden.
What if you don't hate your job, you just don't love it or like it much?
Imagine 5 more years of it and ask yourself if you’re in the right spot
Wow your videos are great love from Pakistan 😍
Plz ask the people that what is the best age to get married .?
And also how much time its taken to understand your partner
I don't think there is a right age to get married but one knows themselves better in their 30's. You need to ask yourself..these questions..am I ready to get married. Am I getting married because this is what my parents/ society wants. As for knowing your partner ...it takes many years. An important thing in relationships is to have the same values.
18, but carefully. You are best able to have children at these ages and do not let career own your life.
@@Baruch-Hashem Hell no. Even if you are financially stable enough to provide for a child, which you like aren't at that age, you are nowhere near mature enough for it.
@@Z6D4C4Totally agree!
Why marry ?
I’m 36 and I hate nursing
💯
In this economy, we would all love to leave the job we hate, but how can we afford to eat and live? I agree with her message, but the bills won't pay themselves.
Anyone with a link...to full interview to clip?
Getting a good job is hard. All these advice are good to listen too but not practical otherwise these people would themselves have done it.
Think of all the things you can accomplish once your 70.
💖
Correct
I would like to know her profession.
I have had many jobs in my life in multiple industries and have yet to find a job that I like. Even though I have made more and more money as I advanced in my career, I didn't like any of the jobs I have ever had. I don't like working at all, period. So this kind of a talk is laughable to me because I would just be homeless and broke if I took her advice.
You have no passions in life?
haha same
she's wise
Where is the part How old are you? 🤔
I’d rather be at a job I don’t like and make good money than a job I do like and not make enough to afford a home.
Damn if only my mom says the exact same thing
I need out of my job. It's really soul destroying and mindless.
Retirement is a funny concept. You work to live until you're old and then you get to barely enjoy living as you near death.
I do the bare minimum
you don't have to like your job to do it.
Not all people choose the right profession in college (I didn’t), and to “get out there” and explore the world requires money. This lady is old and doesn’t know what people now go through..us poor people don’t have money to travel or do new things let alone pay our bills comfortably LMAO. Her idea of living life and exploring is completely gone unless you make $100k plus. It’s $1500 average for a single person apartment for any city
Well in my simplest mindest i think doing a job you really"like" gives you a good feeling and motivation to wake up most days, so for people that dont have the luxury of finding their dream job .. isnt getting a job paying you enough to be with or provide for the people you cherish and love is as good too?
We all have different kinds of happiness i guess
What if you're in a life you hate or don't like. You have no choice in the matter. 😏
JMHO, but, don't get married. It isn't all that great.
