If you don’t keep the 79, would love to see option 3 - how many 4bies can you build with 1 cruiser (in a couple of years tho). One q, Do you wish you’d gone the single cab? you wouldn’t have had to stretch it
To those few negative Nancy's out there if you work hard and save hard its not hard to get some decent $'s behind you to do something with your life apart from sit and bag people out for having a crack in life and some nice hard earned toys. Good on ya Matt you have alot of jealous followers
yes indeed! people love being nasty from mummy’s basement, this is a mad rig and anyone would love to own it, I have a decked out Prado but at the end of the day is still only a prado, I’m not stupid I know the capabilities of my car so I am jealous as fuck of Matt and this mint rig. ❤️
230k is outrageous mate haha. I travelled around Aus with 2 kids for 3 years. I used a 87 troop carrier with a 2h diesel. Total cost was 30k. Troopy had diesel gas, 4 inch tough dog, 35 in tyres, front and rear diff locks, front shock hoops, winch. I rebuilt the engine myself, had the box rebuilt. Zero issues the entire trip. I understand you’re vehicle is flash, but in all honesty, it’s not necessary.
The big 79 is there with you 24/7 during your tour and will never let you down. In the future you'll look at the ol girl (or someone else's 79) and get reminded of the memories on the road. The next car you buy will never be like the 79. But if you do choose to sell it, can't go wrong with a big GQ/GU.

Super jelly of your rig Matt. Unfortunately, we don't get the 79 series in the States. A lot of hard work has been put into your rig and it shows. Well done.
Great review, very comprehensive and detailed. Love the format of taking questions and comments. As for the rig options...first or third choice. Love your builds so am partial to the 3rd option. Honestly Matt, once you've done your lap the big touring is done for a bit. Sell the rig and do up a couple of trucks. Maybe a smaller twin cab for your local SE QLD trips like a mean NP300 or N80, and maybe a classic 80/60 for no reason at all lol. Love the content mate.
Should do a new dual cab build for more weekend touring, as well as a patrol or 80 series build for 4wding and go out like your old vids with everyone. Love it anyway
Sell it and buy a fleet of 20 d22s. They are also a underpowered outdated commercial vehicle that has a turning circle of a container ship. But at least the a correctly priced
Well built truck mate, I guess if you buy any another truck and build it with this much gadgets will definitely go up in the price same as yours, I think for towing manual is great for long term reliability compared to auto, like trans cooler or trans lockup kit, for heavy towing 79 has been proven a reliable vehicle in Australia for a long time
New Rams aren’t what they used to be, I wouldn’t own a new one They’re novelty’s value only I’m afraid, not something to set off on a round trip of Australia
your hobby your passion and you love. enough said. dont justify the coffee machine to others. its your rig enjoy it. I would if i was traveling as much as you. defiantly get a grinder and new coffee machine. so many keyboard warriors out there
Can also use the silver water bladders, inflate when needed and fold flat when air released. They can be used to pack around and help prevent items sliding around. Can also put water in them and have additional thermal mass. From our experience however we really wouldnt go back to chest fridge, the amp loss is negligible and the convenience is much better with front door fridge.
Matt do option 3 I'm doing option 2 and I'm already dreading it realising the size and how hard it is parking but the sound of it just make me want to keep going
What do you use the rear seats for? Would a single cab serve you better? No chassis extension, bigger canopy. I learned a few things from this video, thanks.
You spend all day every day with it. We only see it for a short bit each week. Keep it and keep touring, show us jealous folk just how good it would be to live out of that set up.
Do a 1500 ram! Not as crazy as the 2500, but will be insane to see one fully done. Once you wack wheels and lift etc, it’ll look like a 2500 anyway, but will still make it down the tracks
