You noted that they were in the desert but you could hear the ocean. They have a saying where they tell ARMY something like: "With you, even the desert turns into an ocean."

Wow! I didn't know that, thank you! I always just assumed they did that because desserts are formed in places that were once bodies of waters.

It's also definitely a reference to their hidden song "Sea" and has connections with the BU!

@@naffy113 That's what I was thinking, that it's hinting at their hidden track, Sea! I also didn't notice the ocean sounds at the beginning and end of the song till another reactor mentioned it. I was too busy looking at them and the scenery and lyrics, lol.

    • @marinal.

yep. Also, some army think its a reference to their song Sea.

    • @skyedestiny
      @skyedestiny 2 года назад +24

it goes even deeper than this and even Sea, actually. From their debut, Namjoon has always talked about being in a desert and striving to reach the ocean. (The metaphor even appears in (one of) the hidden track(s) at the end of 2 Cool for Skool.) At the point that we get to Sea, Namjoon confesses that they've found 'the ocean' but that it really might just be a blue desert (feeling that their current level of fame was fragile and superficial (and also scary, in some ways, just as scary as 'the desert). But recently, he said the quote OP stated, being both literal (as they were in Vegas, literally in the desert), and figurative (meaning that even in their dark times, ARMY keeps them going).
That metaphor itself has traveled with them from 2013.

This video has tons of references to past music videos. The blue swing is from spring day mv and the train as well. The statue is from blood sweat and tears. Also the movements as well. When v’s Hands turn into like a frame that is from spring day. Pretty much everything and each movement has meaning.

Here's something else to choke you up - Their debut song on June 13, 2013 was No More Dream. It was their first music video too. So the first time I "met" BTS was them pulling up in a school bus, piling out and performing No More Dream. Now, nine years later, they finish their song beside a school bus then board it and calmly sit inside to wait for the next chapter of their careers to begin. It just gives me chills to think about how they chose to end this "chapter" of their lives.

It's fun to watch someone who doesn't know all the references yet, because your reaction illustrates what BTS is so good at--getting their message through on an emotional level, whether you know anything about them or not. Welcome to the Love, and the Lovers. It brings the tears many times, and if you checked out many other reactors to this song, you would definitely see you are not alone in your tears. I would say the definition of an ARMY is not that they are a fan, but that they are IN LOVE with BTS. It's a love affair BTS doesn't want to end any more than we do, and every song they make is a love letter to us in one way or another. ". . . Promise we'll keep on coming back for more."

I would add that we have gotten so used to the word love meaning only romantic love, that this kind of love between BTS and ARMY is not often called love. But I think you make a good point that it is love, like between family or friends where you just want the best for the other person (people).

desert with sea sounds is a reference to their hidden song Sea from 2017 (means it was only released on physical albums for army)
"This place that I thought was the *sea* was actually a *desert*
and our second name was “idols from a small agency with no connections”
We were cut from broadcast countless times
To fill in for someone was our dream
Some said we won’t be able to make it big because we’re from a small company
I know I know I know as well
The days when seven of us tried to sleep in one room
The faith we had before falling asleep that tomorrow would be different
    The mirage of a *desert*
Though I could see its form, I couldn’t grasp it
I prayed that we would survive in this *desert* that felt endless
I prayed that it wasn’t reality
Eventually the mirage was caught by us and became reality,
and the *desert* we feared got filled with our blood, sweat, and tears to become the *sea*
But what are these fears among all this happiness?
We know too well that this place was originally a *desert*
I don’t want to cry, I don’t want to rest
(No, how about resting just for a bit)
    (No no no)
I don’t want to lose, this was originally a *desert*
(Well, then we have to run)
(Well, we have to cry more)"

This month is the boys' debut anniversary month. The 13th (today), to be more specific, is their debut day. You should definitely react. I'm looking forward to it. You will love.

I bawled my eyes out for hours. That last scene in the bus was full of meaning: the bus was from their first music video, but they're now sitting in it. The way they sit and how the camera pans was exactly like their mv from Spring Day. The sound of the ocean in the desert was very significant (i think someone in the comments have explained this one).
The angel in the dessert was similar to the angel in Blood,Sweat,Tears mv.
The Ford truck was also from another old mv (was it I Need U or Run? Someone my brain can't remember). Train was from Spring Day (actually there was a lot of Spring Day reminiscence). Basically they're saying that they're closing this chapter and starting a new one together with Army.

To hear my boys that the past was the best as a group BUT their individual selves best is yet to come hit me so hard! I agree with you that they use their platform so well to bring joy and positivity to the world. They personify positivity and love despite all the hate and hardships, they are so inspiring.

This MV is all about reminiscing last 9 years of their journey. It has a lot of scenes, props, vehicles and even members' outfits that link back to their old MVs. By the time vedio ended I had big fat tears streaming down my face bcuz I know significance of every single one of them. I'm can't really tell you about it all as you will have to see the old MVs to know the meaning behind them but I'm gonna tell you the meaning behind the last scene
So the bus you see in almost the end is from their debut single. It's where they started. So by going in that bus again they are sort of completing the circle you could say. As they have been saying that this is the end of chapter 1 and from here onwards starts chapter 2 of their musical journey
Also its totally fine to get emotional we all are humans after all
    See you soon

This video is full of references from their past, of course you don't know that because you're a new ARMY, and yet it touched your heart & soul. Imagine how ARMY that been with them since their beginning feel. ARMY that saw all their past references in the video (like me), fell apart and cried through the whole thing. What BTS did to ARMY on this beautiful video is equivalent to what a parent would do to a child by putting together a collage showing the beginning & growth of the family as a whole. Watching someone who didn’t see that all those were literal references to past videos, outfits, sets, movements, even how they were sitting, but still feeling the emotions that were being portrayed shows the brilliance of BTS. Easter eggs for new army to come back too and cry all over again. Thanks for your reaction!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Loved your reaction and, no you are not the only one to cry! I cry at them All. The. Time! And please don't apologise.
I'm sure someone will already have mentioned that this video is stuffed full of references to their previous songs and MVs - and I love it. There are some that are obvious, and others that are only a glimpse, and very easy to miss, but it is a fantastic way to encapsulate this song, which in a way speaks for the whole proof anthology. I am by no means an expert ARMY but I managed to recognise most of the references and am blown away - when you add all that to the lyrics and the message of the song ... wow.
If you are at all interested, a short cut to seeing all those moments here might be to look at Xceleste's video on Yet to come Explained. Not a long YT but she trotts through all the references and outlines the origins. Amazing piece of work. She also touches on some questions related to Bangtan Universe, which I am not into, but admit to enjoying some of the connections ...

The bus they’re on at the end when you teared up is the same bus that they rode in on for their debut music video! Literally showing their start and their past going forward into the future. It’s almost like they’re taking their old baby debut selves with them as they continue to grow and climb and create!

  • @jayiti2262
    @jayiti2262 2 года назад

I cried after a few watches as I recognized all the callbacks to old music videos, getting on the bus that they got off in their debut mv, the ocean sounds, all the Spring Day references, all the outfits, the gestures, all the while singing that they will keep going and continue to create great moments. As soon as I heard the title would be Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment), I thought it was amazing. Just because we get older doesn't mean we don't have to not look forward to things. We can still have beautiful moments in the now and future while still acknowledging the beautiful moments of the past.

Hi Lindsey, it's amazing that even without knowing all the references the video still hit you in the heart. That's how BTS gets you hooked, they get you in your heart. They're so real and pure that sometimes all you feel is just raw emotion. So no, you were not the only one to get emotional watching this video. If you watch their Spring Day and Blood Sweat and Tears videos (perhaps you can react to those as well, Spring Day was one of the first songs that I fell in love with and had on repeat and just had to learn the Korean words to it when I first started watching BTS), you may recognize some of the symbols in this video. Love your reactions.

It was so beautiful to see you get emotional without knowing any of the references in this music video. It shows BTS' power with their music. As you may imagine, the ARMYs who knew the references were crying hard bc of the references they already understood + the power of BTS' music. I cried so hard while watching this m/v. My crying started when I saw their black pickup truck at the beginning of the video. The black pickup truck is a reference to their BTS fictional universe and storyline of youth, finding yourself, loving yourself, and looking for unity with the test of time travel.

This MV was a throwback to all their previous Mvs. Here's all the references you missed (in the order as you move through the mv):

    - the formation they are sitting in is the "Just one day" formation
    - The shot of the truck is similar to the one from the BTS: on stage prologue
    - Jin instead of looking down looks up : reference to life goes on mv
    - Tae's outfit and rose is reminiscent of "Boy in Luv (he is wearing a uniform)
    - Jin's outfit is from the DNA era
    - the same merry go round from "Spring day"
    - Blood, sweat and tears statue in the background
    - Jimin looks down at a shoe (reference to spring day where he picks a shoe up while at the beach) He is also wearing his spring day outfit here
    - Namjoon in the "I need you" era with the same truck that has the same number behind him
    - Hobi is wearing an outfit similar to the one in the LY highlight reel and the train behind is from Spring Day
    - Reference to the euphoria shot where they were all in a truck
    - Yoongi and the piano : "First love" reference
    - Blood, sweat and tears reference but Taehyung and Jin swapped roles.
    - Same yellow bus from No more dream, their first MV
    - Jk does the same pose as he did in "Butterfly"
    - They recreated the exact same scene from the Spring Day MV here
(pretty sure I missed some but other armys can add to it)

This was so interesting and eye-opening to see how you reacted to this video. You are in the beginning of your BTS journey, so your interpretation of all of the references to past videos (like the carousel, bus, angel, piano, etc.) was very different to how ARMY who have been with the boys with years would see them (which isn’t a bad thing! I wish I could somehow experience all these MVs for the first time again, which is why many ARMYs love watching reactors). It is comforting to know that people who are new to BTS or even people seeing them for the first time with this video would feel inspired and emotional watching Yet to Come. Thank you for your reaction💜

Welcome to ARMY, Lindsey :) Now you're getting what we feel pretty much on a daily basis when listening to their music or watching their content or looking at their pictures and reading their posts. They are this incredible source of never ending positive energy that just.... envelop you in a warm hug.
The message you pointed out "You Never Walk Alone"? That's the essence of it, because no matter where you go and what you experience, BTS and ARMY are always there RIGHT beside you. I know it may sound corny but it's absolutely true that "BTS find you when you need them most". I can vouch for the accuracy of that as it happened to me despite my initial skepticism, and in all my years as an avid music lover I have NEVER experienced anything like it.
It's one of the best feelings in the world :) Borahae! 💜💜💜💜
