Rented one from Warrs in the summer and took my son all around Europe for a week. Stopped, started and handled like a dream. Very comfortable to ride and for the pillion as well. You forgot to show how easy it is to take those panniers off. Got a whole weeks worth of clothes etc in each side and took them off at night when we went into the local towns. I would also add I'm 5'7" and had no issue with the pegs or bars....
Love mine, gets compliments, is nimble & comfortable and has tech; keyless ignition, ABS, cruise control, port for phone etc, quick adjust shock for two up riding, quick change fairing & bags, modern light weight wheels Stupidly no useable windshield option but Gustafsson makes several for our fairing. Also no handles to use your quick release saddle bags as luggage.
I just got home from a ride in the country on my 2018 Sport Glide. I love that bike. It makes me smile. I have a Stage II torque cam with ventilator and Bassani Road Rage pipes. It has more than enough acceleration and speed than I've ever used. The versatility is perfect for me for commuting to work, cruising around town or moto-camping trips.
I've fallen in love with this model. If I could buy one now I would, right now it's looking like 2023 before I can. My ol '00 Marauder 800 will have to do for now
7:37 Don't worry how you look. During my 3 years of Harley ownership, in which I put 18,000 miles on two different models of their bikes, I got plenty of looks, mostly for even wearing gear at all. Dress for the slide, not for the ride. It quite honestly is one of the many reasons I gave up my Harley: I got tired of riding to cruiser events and being the only guy that took safety seriously.
I was sitting out front of a HD dealership on a hot Texas day and a pair road off in full gear. A lady sitting across from me pointed them out and said how crazy they were. I always wear full gear. Crazy is getting injured or killed when gear could have potentially saved your life or prevented being impaired for life and paying 10s of thousands in hospital bills. I ride a Sport Glide with gear and don't really give a rip what anyone else thinks.
I've owned all types and makes of bike and currently ride a Harley. Dressed the same on all of them, black gortex jacket, denim jeans, boots, gloves and either full face or open face crash helmet. Wear and ride whatever you're happy with.
Love my Sportster 1200S and would be happy to have a new Sport Glide as a second bike. Must be good if it makes you laugh so much during a ride. Great review.
“This slightly small engine” When I was young 750 ccm. was enormous 🙂 I’m. not a Harley man, but this model I really like. The color is a bit bold for me 😳🇩🇰
I have the Softail Low Rider with the 107 engine, plenty of power. No need for a stage 1 in my opinion. It sounds great in stock form too. Good review horrible colour!
Would softening the preload on the back give you a softer ride? I'm interested in buying this but there aren't any to test ride so reviews like this are invaluable.
I have a 2018 SG and its the only bike in the entire H-D line up that I like. It was $18,500(U.S.) and I added the taller windscreen, floorboards, crash bars, tour pak, and oil cooler which added another $2,000 but made the bike more capable for weekend touring. The stock exhaust is bland but I'm not ready for another $1,500 investment in a Stage I kit. In all honesty, this bike is overpriced and lacks the technology and features that's found on competitors bikes. If you have to own a H-D for the "culture" thing then this is a good bike but if you're brand adverse then look elsewhere.
Gene Clarke is it the 5.5 windscreen? Does it benefit at all? And the floorboards, do you find yourself scraping more in turns and is it more comfortable than the pegs?
@@ElusiveAura Yes, its the H-D 5.5 inch windscreen. I'm 5'10" and it eliminates the majority of wind buffeting and I can still look over the windscreen for an unobstructed view. Memphis Shades makes taller windscreens (7" to 21") that completely replaces the stock faring. Not everyone likes the looks of the 5.5 windscreen but I went for pure function over looks. I find the floorboards more comfortable and scrape about the same as with the pegs. I find I can ride longer with the floorboards and the little changes in foot/leg position help quite a bit. My intent with the SG is weekend touring and overnight camping without going the full bagger route and my SG setup so far fits the bill as long as you stay within the limitation of the bike. Its not a 114 bagger with a Stage 4 kit and its not a sports touring bike by any means. It will happily just plug along and get you to where you're going.
@@ElusiveAura Something to think about, its not a popular bike in the US and there's an expectation H-D will drop the bike in favor of a 1250 water cooled replacement. Resale and trade in values are terrible. Remember the ill faded Switchback? The SG may follow the same road. I like the bike but I'm not a H-D fan and the way they deal with customers.
Gene Clarke ya I traded in a 16 fat bob for this and I absolutely love the sport glide. Only had fat bob for 5 months. Sport glide does everything i need it to for my application. I see myself keeping this for awhile. I hope HD doesn’t drop this line but if they do, it wouldn’t surprise me. I hope to keep this for quite awhile.
I was trying to decide between a low rider s or a street bob but now I'm seriously liking the sport glide, would this work for a 5’3 rider?, I've got a 25 inseam and need to be able to flat foot it
Glad you like it! I rode Harley's for 20 years. But I must say, they are overpriced, overweight and overrated. Maybe it's the film, but the bike sounds like my lawnmover! But what the heck, it's smiles/miles so go ahead! Well done film and review.
I have a 2019 and yes the stock exhaust sounds like a sewing machine. I threw a rinehart slip on on it and its night and day. Lightweight and maneuverable, nice power, versatile, good storage and looks good. My first harley and the first harley I wanted.
Nice Review, Great Bike had one for 6 months over the winter/spring probably the most fun I'd had on any bike but build quality and corrosion got on my nerves so it had to go.
Very cool looking and seems fast , I started buying Harley’s in 1982 and you may be farmilliar but if not I know for a fact you would love an FXR ,in wich Eric buell was part of the design team , ( and I currently have my 82 FXB sturgis) but also ,I had an 85 FXRC ,(try that on for size before getting one of these new “chi-com” models (wich I personally simply can’t even attempt to “abide “) all of the worlds products ( especially American) have become “Chinese” products (wich is a contradiction in terms of course seeing they are stealers of products), as these manufacturers have taken advantage of the zero tax advantage in( until the certain time they’re blackmailed into submission of course wich some claim is the reasen they are there currently , BS , but ANYway as I digress, just the popAmerican opinion lately.
Hard to get excited about another soft tail. They havent really dine anything different except for the front fairing and standard bags. But it is a sport model meaning nothing spectacular is done to it.

Jeez, blip the throttle on the down shift. 😂 Test rode one this morning & so impressed I bought it immediately. Love it. 👍
Was I a bit overzealous? 😂
Lol! Maybe. 😂
@@andrewkitchenuk Pretty sure I actually injured my wrist down blipping so hard. That's how I got the wrist injury. Honest. 😂
test rode one and got one job done.Ride safe.
Nice review. I own a 2019 Sport Glide. My favorite Harley. Take care.
The fact that as long as you removed the front fairing and side bags it will be a totally complete look of a motorcycle.
The only thing I would add is a passenger seat and high back rest. Beautiful machine.
Blaq Byrd 281 same here and I would also add front and rear floor boards

Good review. You say the suspension is quite harsh. Is it so bad that it would put you off buying one?
Would softening the preload on the back give you a softer ride? I'm interested in buying this but there aren't any to test ride so reviews like this are invaluable.
It would probably help a bit.
Less vibration due to twin counterbalances ✌. Also the 107 ain't no slouch.
Beautiful bike 🙌
How much does this beauty cost?
Are you wearing a full face Helmet and if yes how do you find the gauges on the tank
Hi, do you mind telling me your inside leg measurement, as I'm worried I'd not be comfy with the forward controls as I'm a short arse!
Hey dude, I'm around 29 inches. You'd be fine I reckon! 👍
@@Englishbikerdan awesome, just what I wanted to hear 🙂
In England, don't the handlebars have to be on the right side of the tank?
That's why we have dual carriageways so we stay on right hand side where we can stay doin the ton up on our way to have a cup of tea 🇬🇧
