    This is one of the only 2018 models that I actually appreciate. This has a TON of potential with some different bars and nice 2-1 exhaust. I'm looking forward to getting a ride review for this myself!!! Good video mate, as always!

    I dig it with the accessories on it. Definitely seems like a step down from a complete touring and a step up from street. Good middle ground for someone looking for both

    It's the nicest Harley I've ridden to date. Ride quality is very good, didn't get a chance to get it on anything too twisty but its low speed handling was easy enough. It is a little jumpier in 1st gear than the Low Rider S, but is much smoother overall. The 107 is reasonably quick, but honestly this bike could easily use more power. It could use dual discs up front, the brakes aren't bad, but could use a little more power. If I were going to buy a Harley this would probably be the one I would get.

    Thx for this excellent review. I own a Sport Glide, and all you said is spot on. The only thing a didn‘t like was the position of the bar so i put a set of risers on it.

    Another great review. I bought my current Fat Bob on the back of your test of one. In this case, I ordered my Sport Glide back in November after seeing it at the NEC bike show. Can't wait to get it on or around 1st March.

    I had an HD Switchback prior to my current Victory XC...I believe the Sport Glide is the successor to that HD. Its a great idea to make a convertible bike and the Sport Glide is a much more "manly" looking machine then the Switchback was(which is half the reason I had to get rid of it ;) ). With a few small tweaks this Sport Glide looks like it would make a great ride for weekend and day trips on twisty back roads... That, and its bags look like proper motorcycle bags, not two cute lil' purses hanging of the back of the bike(ie; like the Switchback.....)

    • @tryarunm
      @tryarunm 6 лет назад +1

      I had never heard that model name before, so I googled it and the Switchback is a damned good-looking machine. I would be proud to ride one.

    • @painsrides
      @painsrides 6 лет назад +1

      Don't take me too serious about the "manly" thing,...... I used to get ribbing from my buds about its tiny bags(purses).. I liked my Switchback, it was a good riding, handling and sounding bike. I had it setup with a stage 1 V&H 2:1 exhaust, K&N intake, FuelMoto tuner, Mustang seat and a Memphis Shades batwing fairing. For me the dynas were just too small for the riding I do....which is mostly two up touring. I moved to the Victory XC because it has huge bags, tons of room for me and my passenger and amazing power and handling for a bike in its class and size.

      I believe this is closer to the Softail Convertible. But I liked the original Softail Convertible with the extended front fender and the larger removable faring. But I would rather have the new engine on this one over a twin cam. They really need to offer more options in the parts catalog so that someone like me can get the faring and fender I prefer.

I have a 2009 Sporty Low and a 2012 Super Glide Custom. Still love my Dyna and it would be tough to let her go especially now. Thanks for sharing and ride safe brother.

    is there a way to adjust the clutches stiffness? i know if it was hydraulic it would be very easy to squeeze by switching it over but is there a way to adjust a cable clutch to make it soft. thanks for the video!

    Great review, it is quite clear that you enjoyed riding the Sport Glide! The bike looks awesome and I absolutely see the value and flexibility of being able to put the bags on in no time. My only worry is the low lean angle that you also mentioned. I drive a Forty-Eight myself, so I scrape the pegs regularly. However, I would be worried that the Sport Glide is similarly too low and/or does not have enough lean angle for touring through different road types and conditions. Any thoughts on this? ✌️

  • @BFD15i
    @BFD15i 6 лет назад +13

    I kinda like the Sport Glide and the idea of it BUT I think Harley didn't do a good job on it. When you call a bike "Sport Glide", put some damn dual-discs in front and at least make the 114-engine an option. And I think it's just cheap to not make the panniers painted in the bikes color.

    • @RedboRF
      @RedboRF 6 лет назад

      I think they will upgrade it in 2019 or 2020 line. Just as they did with Street/Road glide with 114 engine.

    The set up for stowing a helmet is that tour pack 1or larger, get rid of that rear seat pad. I'd get a larger quarter fairing or bigger and mids. I prefer this to a low rider S.

    Woohoo! A new Newb motovlog! It's been too long since we've seen you terrorising the English countryside... er... I mean, sedately "reviewing a motorbike" (wink wink nudge nudge)
    I'm in full agreement with you on the Sport Glide, with or without the bikini batwing (bikini-wing) and saddlebags, being best of breed. It would've been quite nice if they included dual front disc and an option 114ci "S" model, but that would've probably pushed the price into Road/Street Glide territory. Thanks for the review and can't wait to see Goldie S with her new paint job. Cheers, bud.

    Thanks for another nice review; keep them coming! One thing I don't understand (and this is not just aimed at Harley, but any manufacturer for whom the cap fits), Why, after paying £15k for a motorcycle, should it be necessary to even consider changing the exhaust, the pillion seat (in some cases the rider's seat too) and the windscreen blade??? For the money they ask, can't the manufacturers offer these as choices, or equip their machines more suitably?

    Welcome back, congratulations on the promotion. You mentioned leaning in to corners and using your body weight. Excuse me if this sounds obvious or you already know, I'm not trying to treat you like a newb (despite your name) but are you aware of counter steering? Instead of leaning in or pulling the bike in with your body weight, push on the inside bar, i.e. if your turning right PUSH on the right hand bar, so in effect your 'steering' the opposite way. Your bike will drop into the corner a lot quicker and all of a sudden twisties are even more fun and much more manageable.

    • @Motonewbrider
      @Motonewbrider  6 лет назад

      John McDowall completely agree. I’ve used this method since I passed my test. I mention lean as sometimes you have bikes that simply are super tough to “lean” into bends etc.

  • @markhenry192

    If i had the money i would choose this model out of all the Softails.
    Motonewbider as an aside; you had a 48, i not long ago brought a 2017 48. I love it but as a "returning" biker i am really struggling hauling the thing around bends and roundabouts! Is it a lack of confidence and/or that big fat fron tire just aint conducive to going around bends? i'm getting desperate here! Thanks.

    • @DeuceVideoHD
      @DeuceVideoHD 6 лет назад +1

      mark henry Very much sounds like a confidence issue to me. I'd recommend a refresher course honestly. Get your confidence back. It's dangerous enough for us out there without doubt riding on the pillion.

    • @markhenry192
      @markhenry192 6 лет назад +1

      Thank you. I completed a one day refresher course a while back, as that cost me £190.00!! i think i will have to find a quiet supermarket car park and practice my figure of eights. Like you say and i suspect it is a confidence issue. Although i am sure that big front tire does not help. All the best and thanks again.

    • @DeuceVideoHD
      @DeuceVideoHD 6 лет назад +1

      mark henry No worries! Remember to countersteer and look through the turn to where you're going. I still find myself sometimes having to remind myself to turn my head and look through some turns. It really can mean the difference between ending up in the ditch or scraping the pegs through the apex.

  • @nevillegreg1
    @nevillegreg1 6 лет назад +1

    I like the concept of this model, but not enough cornering clearance for a model that has 'sport' in it's name. And at the moment, the HD parts 'cattledog' has no mids available for this bike. For me, sport = mids and touring = highway pegs. And for these reasons why I went with the 2018 Low Rider (at least I could easily swap out those horrible buck horn bars with Street Slammers) and have better lean angle and mid controls. I enjoy your reviews. Good work. The sport glide looks heaps better stripped down.

    • @kakhidzeoto
      @kakhidzeoto 6 лет назад

      you cant have mids because of that low seating position, otherwise you'll look like a grasshopper on it )) and still it has better lean angle, than breakout and slim

    • @nevillegreg1
      @nevillegreg1 6 лет назад +1

      Yeah, but the Breakout with that ridiculous rear tire is really a boulevard/drag bike and the Slim is about cruising. Each to their own. HD are putting emphasis on cruising with the forward controls. I don't see any sport bikes with forwards, calling it a Sport Glide is another misconception of HD who are suppose to be trying to appeal to the younger gen who would expect 'sport to mean 'sport'. The Sport Glide to me is the new 'girls bike' - feels light weight, nimble to ride and you have the carrying capacity to bring the air dryer and make-up. Of course, in these days of equality, no reason for guys not to ride the Sport Glide either. Whatever!

    • @kakhidzeoto
      @kakhidzeoto 6 лет назад

      nevillegreg1 what you call “girls bike” characteristics are actually HD understanding of sportiness)))

    • @eddietheloggie
      @eddietheloggie 6 лет назад

      I'm a big lowrider fan, I fell in love with the lowrider S but now it's gone I'm looking at the 2018 softail lowrider, (I'm gonna have to wait 'till 2021 until I'm back in UK though) tell me more, what's it like? I'd just love it if HD came out with a softail lowrider SS with the blacked out look a 114ci and dual front discs! Then all I'd have to add would be a stage III and an exhaust.

And when I went to part x it in for a fat boy I had a offer of £4500 for it . I haven’t got a Harley now I part x it in . I’ve now got a triumph thruxton R they give me £7500 for it in part exchange.

      I've got the same worries about all the new softails with single front discs. One solution I read about is converting the front brake to a 6 piston system. It's a lot less expensive than trying to change to dual discs with the potential for new forks, wheels etc and allegedly just as effective.

    • @timothy9596

      I hate the fact that you have to upgrade the suspension on HD's but that's the reality. Upgrade that and as you said the brakes, you've got an amazing bike. But your pocketbook will be about $4000 usd lighter.
