My friend Lacari asked me to watch some of his matches and give some advice on what he could do better to rank up to TEKKEN emperor. That sparked a three-hour video review/coaching session to help players in my Twitch chat of all skill levels improve. Enjoy!

I notice that Anakin tempers his advice based off the rank they are at. That's a good coach right there.
For low ranks, he doesn't even mention not ducking the common Mid High strings or reactable lows. Because you're not expected to at that rank
He tells lower ranks to grab more as an option with their plus frames. Because it works at those ranks.
He criticizes Lacari for not breaking grabs. Because at his ranks they really shouldn't be working as much anymore.

I'm a bit late to this video, but this was very helpful to watch, I already realized I was making the same mistakes Lacari was making (and then some), I waste my heat bar and should try to use other moves while in heat. I learned a lot.
I would like to see more replay analysis videos from various ranks as I think it would be interesting to see, and maybe even professional level games just to hear your thoughts throughout the matches.

19:25 i too struggle with throws. I'm good at punishing, but if I try to focus on throws at the same time I play way worse and my punishment takes a hit as well.

I already understand how to use them, but couldn't figure out why use them...I forgot that healing is part of the mechanic

I don’t map any buttons. I just left/right punch/kick as my 4 buttons and that’s it

Listen here buddy, I'm tired of the Alisa hate, I just got the game and she taught me all kinds of fundamentals. Chainsaws are just paper-scissors-rock anyway, taught me mix ups

Dang. I did learn quite a bit in this vid. Now i think it’s about putting it into practice and breaking down bad habits. I may lose and derank at first. But it’s hopefully good so i can build better ones.
the best tip i've learned from my own experience:
don't be offensive when you're a round ahead, it makes no sense to take unnecessary risks by being offensive when you have the advantage, make the opponent work for it by being defensive instead of chasing after him ... if you're ahead the opponent will feel pressured to attack and make mistakes
and never press on round start since there's too much bs that can happen and you can easily lose the round .. safety first

Honestly as a new Tekken player whos only at early red ranks rn im surprised that Asuka player is doing what alota the noobs i faced do hed most likely cook me but that waste of meter was kinda frustrating ngl.
i play Reina so my personal gameplan in heat is to bait players by threatening my auto parry while threatening a massive counter hit into great damage or put on those safe crazy chip damage strings and that heavens wrath 3 4 go crazy ngl so far my main issues are knowing when to side step knowing how to respond to certain wake up options my execution with electrics and i can barely wave dash but im getting better

Tekken feels so overwhelming as a game I played it casually for years but Tekken 7 was the first one I played seriously and I still feel like I’m ass. Yeah I’m at Tenryu rank so I know some stuff but idk where to even begin learning when to step which way to step what I should be ducking etc. and don’t get me started on perfect electrics 😭
Honestly man, it's weird because I feel like with Tekken, you are a pleb for years, then in like a year you'll go from scrub to legitimate red rank contender, and a year after that you'll be god.
It feels like most of Tekken is just downloading character visuals and patterns. Once you've gotten enough raw experience, you just have to learn execution (unless you play Viktor), then after that learning the what and why of each character's best moves will put you over the edge.

I'm not sure what I have to do in order to get coaching from you but I'm willing to do what needs to be done I've definitely been getting too frustrated with rank matches the constant up and down with ranks is really getting to me so I'd appreciate any and all help I can get to improve and advance my gameplay

Throw breaks are pure luck, there is no way people are reversing inputs based on the side of the screen they're on while maintaining accuracy...
luck and prediction, second part isn't exactly luck but it does factor in.
Yapping, if it was SF6 id say sure but T8 has the easiest to react to throws in any major fighting game
