We’re going to look at some of the causes of trigeminal neuralgia and potential remedies.
There are two types of trigeminal neuralgia. Type 1 trigeminal neuralgia is characterized by unilateral, sudden, brief, shooting, or stabbing pain. It can reoccur every two seconds to two minutes from twice a day to 200 times per day. Type 2 trigeminal neuralgia is described as achy and chronic rather than intense.
Research has found associations between polyunsaturated fatty acids and several chronic diseases, including trigeminal neuralgia. Omega-6 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids that are highly inflammatory and are a large part of the average diet.
Research involving cadavers showed that many people who had trigeminal neuralgia also had certain viruses known to infect the ganglion (nerve bundles). The following viruses have been associated with trigeminal neuralgia:
    •Herpes virus (HHV6)
    •Shingles
    •Epstein-Barr virus
    •Cytomegaloviruses
These viruses are considered latent viruses because they go in and out of remission. Extract from shiitake mushrooms, known as AHCC, high doses of vitamin D3 combined with zinc, berberine, and stress reduction can help put these viruses back into remission.
PEA (Palmitoylethanolamide) + Luteolin can support your nerve tissue directly and target inflammation. DMSO is another powerful and penetrative anti-inflammatory that has been used to decrease phantom pain, post-operative pain, post-traumatic pain, and trigeminal neuralgia.
There’s an amazing technique that can reduce trigeminal neuralgia pain very quickly. It’s not a permanent fix, but I've seen it work to relieve pain in about 70% of cases.
Try the following technique for instant trigeminal neuralgia pain relief:
    1. Isolate where the pain is coming from
    2. Locate the mirror image on the opposite side of the body
    3. Massage the area on the opposite side of the body (you should notice tenderness)
    4. Check the bad side to determine changes to your pain level
    5. Continue until your pain is manageable

I went to the dentists for a filling and when giving anesthetic she somehow she hit the trigeminal nerve. Felt like my face and eye were on fire. Thankfully it was short lived. I have the utmost sympathy for anyone suffering from trigeminal neuralgia

Many years ago I had a molar removed and still had pain after for quite some time right in the jaw. Of course the dentist had no clue as to why. I think it was this problem. They couldn't help me, just gave me a pain med. Eventually it went away.

How do you know she hit the trigeminal nerve. I mean where is it located

    • @iaincampbell2509
      @iaincampbell2509 6 месяцев назад +5

@vanitagomes3794 she was treating one of the molars or the upper right side of my mouth. When she hit the nerve I screamed out in agony. I described the pain that travelled in 3 arcs/lines across, above and below my eye. The dentist got a fright and was pretty shaken, she apologised profusely and said that she must have hit the trigeminal nerve, something she had never done on anyone before. As I said originally I was very lucky and only experienced this pain as a one off, I do not have trigeminal myalgia but if it's anything like what I experienced that day then it must be a horrendous condition to live with.

I was ‘struck by lightning’ of TN in 2007! My TN pain is nearly nonexistent since going as close as possible to a carnivore diet. I also make gelatin using your hydration powder. I did have an MVD surgery in 2008 and again in 2015. After years of debilitating pain, I am close to being pain free. This video is extremely informative and after years of self experimentation, it makes sense! One thing I found is that I was starving my brain of fat. This is obviously not the place to write an article from my personal experiences, but I need to tell you, BRAVO!!!! Thank you!!!

You were absolutely right about how some behaviors _rewire the brain._ They are the cause and not the symptom of other deleterious behaviors after all. And through therapy I’ve come to the understanding as to why and the kind of signals I’ve been putting out into the world, as a result. So, yeah! I appreciate all of your work. I’m 26 right now and I started experiencing this pain on and off beginning at the age of 21. I didn’t think anything of it until the episodes started lasting longer than a few seconds and the pain became more intense. I started paying attention to when it happened and realized it ONLY happened after I ate ultra processed foods like hot Cheetos, instant ramen, packaged pastries, artificially flavored “foods”. In a way, I’m glad this started happening to me as it helps deter me from consuming these foods. I used to eat these things so mindlessly and now I just have an aversion to them because I associate them with the pain.

    Hi Dr. Eric Berg,
I know you were not the first I found who explained how the biochemistry in the body works during long and short term fasting, that would be Dr. Pradip Jamnadas, but I am happy to report that I lost 43lbs after following IF and honing in certain nutrional habits based on your informative videos. Your channel has become a google of sort for nutrition and that deserves a Nobel prize. I'm now 167lbs and 5'-10.5" tall, which I haven't been since age 16.
When I saw your video on how sugar influences the puffy look and seeing your before and after photos, I thought "holy crap that's me". I just posted a video breaking a 3 day fast and I don't believe I did it right, but still ate well (no overeating) and posted it on this channel as a short. Thank you and I look forward to more information. The "useful and ethical wiki".
p.s. I miss those large Caramel Craze Iced Signature Lattes I used to get everyday from Dunkin Donuts. Haven't had one since August 26th, 2023. 74g of sugar per drink took a dive on my health and I'm glad I'm off that drug

Stress is the main reason for Trigeminal Neurologia.
In my case i had a critical property issue which could not be to solved, i was under severe stress for 2 long years. It started within 2 months of that stress. It still persists, a bad pain that nobody should get.
This pain made me to forget all the property issue & concentrate on this killing pain.
So never ever take stress, sleep well to keep healthy.

Please ask her to sleep straight, never to sleep on left or right. not to bend the face, not to wash the face. just wipe it with warm water only if necessary. she has to be complete stress free, she should sleep whenever she feels like and at least 9 hours a day.

Suspect the dentist and a ENT docters mistake was the root cause if this. God will Bless you.

I especially appreciate you explaining your method of research and the questions you ask to find information. Medications did not work for me , they actually made things worse, with side effects as well. The only thing I had come across years ago that makes the chronic pain tolerable is l-lysine which I take a high dose daily. I also have burning mouth which l-lysine has helped make more tolerable as well. L-lysine has not however affected the acute episodes so I am looking forward to trying the dmso and other things you mentioned. Thank you again.

My brother had a “face” stroke that happened around his trigeminal nerve. He was in severe pain, couldn’t sleep or get any relief from OTC pain relievers. His own medical doctor sent him to a dentist who couldn’t find anything wrong. Three days until he called me and told me about his dilemma. I have a TCM, so made an appointment for him in the next day. My brother showed up and I brought him to see my doctor. He took I look at my brothers face and said he had had a stroke. After many needles in his face he fell asleep and the doctor left him to rest. He came back the next day and then every week once. His own doctor had him scheduled for a cat scan and was so surprised that my brother knew what was wrong with him. They offered him meds which he declined. He’s 💯 better now! This was about 5 years ago.

Aloe Vera has a similar action as DMSO. It can pull surface contaminants deeper into your skin, not as strong as DMSO will, but similar action. That's why it's important to not use products containing Aloe Vera, unless it's pure Aloe from the plant, cuz you will get the mfr's list of ingredients sucked in with it.
DMSO is really amazing and it IS an "old time remedy' that was a mainstay in the horse business, to which fell off due to horses now being mostly owned for pleasure or light work. But back in the day, barns had gallons of buckets of this stuff. If any horse showed signs of lameness or joint pain, they were washed off then soaked with it. My father told me my grandfather had the strongest hands in the world because he was always dunking them in DMSO. He sold mules for farming. I think it truly is an old time remedy that just got lost in the shuffle or -ockefeller said get rid of it, make it sound like poison.

Dr. Bern thanks, Tic Douloureux video this is so amazing; I went online just yesterday searching for natural/DIY INFORMATION on a condition and as you stated I kept getting the 'medical' remedies, I searched and searched with multiple subjects and I only got 'medical' recommendations ! That is so 'dirty' ! in turn for everyone does not need invasive procedures, there are different level of POTENTIAL conditions as well as symptoms are only being presented; it could be many things, and it would help if one could try certain methods as a process for elimination before you 'consult' those who nearly always suggest more invasive measure. Thank you so much, when I do searches from now on I will definitely go in a different direction.

Cold made it terrible. Somebody suggested acupuncture and he tried it. Gradually he got relief and is painfree unless he chews ice. Ice and cold is stimulating the nerve. He is 83 now and in great condition 🧿.

I used an acupuncture pen to jolt through my face. I rubbed a blend of clove and frankincense essential oil in a base oil. I also did neural rewiring to move the nerve away from anything its touching. I think i may have used Alpha lipoic acid and some other supplements thst i csnt remember but not so important. I almost committed suicide because these flares were unbearable. To anyone suffering, please dont give up. I know this pain. I will pray for you. Please dont give up. I've had lyme and trigeminal/occipital pain is excruciating plus the nerve sting feelings ugh. Glad massage is helping you... I think it's a necessity not so much a luxury. I’ve had unilateral pain in my left eye, left side of face and scalp area for years. I’ve never heard anyone report this but I’ve noticed that it was triggered anytime that I wore ear plugs or earphones. I switched from the hard plastic type to the foam type and then to an external type all with no success. Came to the conclusion that anything that causes pressure inside or outside of my ear will result in several days or weeks of discomfort.

I have this condition. When it comes on it's incredible. The pain is intense and grows as the condition continues. It starts when I get cold air in my ears or on the back of my neck the only way to stop it is with heat. If I don't get to a warm place it grows and I feel like I'm going to die. I lose strength and become unable to function. It's like I'm blacking out. My pain is not in the place it shows in any videos I've seen .
The pain is more to the back of the neck in the mastoid region. When I first experienced it the pain started in very cold weather. Now a light wind at sixty degrees can start it. And now even when I'm in a heated room. I'm scared that it will grow and I understand why it has been called the suicide disease. Much love .

I have Trigeminal Neuralgia, in a mixed form, in that it's type 2-a constant super intense painful ache, massive pressure, hard to describe, but with the sharp nerve pains as well. Literally, I can't lie down, I must pace & it makes me cry and moan, in pain. Pain killers are of no use.
I was given Tegretol which came with it's crazy side effects.
I eventually found, for myself, I am susceptible to these attacks that can last for days, when my blood pressure is high.
So, I've had great success with picoionic magnesium chloride & potassium from cream of tartar powder, in a glass of water with camu camu powder (vitamin C).
I believe high blood pressure makes those blood vessels throb & it irritates the trigeminal nerve.

Call it a coincidence, the timing of your video, but my trigeminal neuralgia has flared back up and I had hit a brick wall in my independent research into it (because every doctor I’ve had is only capable of reciting the webmd list of triggers). Thank you for listing your sources! I tried massaging the mirror side of my head, and I don’t know if it worked or if the cluster just ran it’s course for now.
I’ve personally found relief from a home made ointment including lavender and rosemary (rosemary is an analgesic, and lavender is anti-inflammatory), for anyone else going through this who might be looking into alternatives/additions to their current treatment plan.

I love DMSO, I found this remedy last year. I use it often for me and my dogs. I've been using DMSO on a cyst in my armpit that wouldn't cure even after a dose with antibiotic. My Dr. wanted me to go on another round with antibiotic, but I didn't. I cleaned the armpit every morning and night with home made soap, put 50% DMSO on it and the cyst is almost gone. In the beginning I put some iodine with it or honey.
For the 14 yo dog I give 50% DMSO if I give her some propolis , lion's mane or chaga.

I suffered from TN from 2012 to 2020, gradually worsening over the years until even the largest doses of the strongest nerve medications were not cutting it anymore. I was not able to eat anything except soft food out of a pouch and this I could swallow without the sides of my mouth being touched and couldn’t speak without excruciating pain so spent most of my day in bed. I decided surgery was the only solution and reluctantly opted for gamma knife surgery rather than MVD and this has completely stopped any pain however unfortunately over a couple of years has gradually numbed all the nerves in one side of my face and also the ends of the nerves tingle from time to time. It’s quite irritating and uncomfortable but still better than excruciating pain.
