I'm pretty sure torch could beat stockfish 1 in every like 30ish games.
When stockfish is black torch already can sometimes beat it altough hardly ever.

When 2 engines are playing, who is judging the moves and rating the bar? 🤔🤓
bar goes from position probably, i think it works like if Stockfish isn't seen the move opponent did its overanalyzing it and maybe can see that this move is better than it did so
They use another Stockfish and makes it depth higher
Whoever is usually rating the bar
Stockfish is but at a lower depth so the eval bar isn’t accurate unless you let it calculate at the highest depth

i'd like to see SF16 go against SF15.1 in long games. Roughly SF13,14,15 and 15.1 where equal strength in long time controls, difference in strength was only substancial in blitz.
But now the SF team are saying the latest version is markedly improved in long analysis, which would be the first time since SF13 release on 2021AD Feb.

if you let them go in long games, its 99.9% a draw
even stockfish 15.1 on only depth 20 can draw stockfish 16 on depth 35
@@Wawacat4436Thats because stockfish now evaluates starter position a draw. So to test stronger engines, they just start them off in a worse position.

@@jamesgrist1101 nope but i did run 100 stockfish 15.1 vs 16 games, only one was won by stockfish 16 and 99 of them were draws
+ you can test depth 20 SF 15.1 against depth 35 SF 16 yourself lol
4070 is sf's fischer random rating btw, actual elo is 3930 and ~3500 respectively (title).
Why is there 2 ratings, one is I assume fide and what is the other one based off of

stockfish did so well in the endgame the logic was overflowing with perfection it was pure genius kinda disappointed black made some sloppy moves

Okay there are misstake moves everywhere? Why not let respective engine get 1 hour thinking time in total? Doing that, the analysis will have stockfish 16 on 100 % accuracy and torch about
97 % accuracy. Why 97 only? Because torch has lower elo than stockfish 16.

Stockfish 8 had an estimated ELO of around 3800, where Stockfish 16 has ~4050

Stockfish loves razor sharp lines no human wants that position but surprisingly thats a winning position.

@@curious_banda Stockfish has better records against Torch. Stockfish W% is more than 60% whereas Torch W% is less than 40% when these two are against each other. If you talk about opening pairs, Stockfish is light years ahead of Torch. [Stockfish won 284 openings; Torch won only 4 and 212 ended up in a draw]
