    A350 has narrower seats in PE..than the 787 or A330... Great short vlog

      @Travelsbydreamer  10 месяцев назад +3

      Great insight and thank you. I did the A330 on the way back but sadly was one of the real old ones. Would love to try the 787 as know that’s 2-3-2 across on a not so different width aircraft. One for the future here’s hoping!

    We are actually doing this flight in August with a connection to Orlando. We did contemplate first class, but went for premium, an extra 2k just for a bed didn’t quite cut it. Looks really nice, thank you so much for this video. However, my only concern, as always with flights, is the reclining, both of my seat and the person in front. But we shall see. It’s the food for me, the service and that tea in a good old proper mug. Nice!!!!

    • @Travelsbydreamer
      @Travelsbydreamer  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, I’d say the PE offering should be perfect for that length of flight. With the additional space between seats it’s a much better reclining experience both for you in seat and space wise when the person in front reclines also.
      Loved the mugs! Enjoy! ✈️

    I fly Virgin PE 4 to 5 times a year. Excellent service and food every time. The 'wander wall' has much better snacks and drinks available compared to other airlines. I agree that it would be very good if they added a calf rest to the seats on the A350. The A330's have them, and they make a big difference. For headphones, I always take my own noise cancelling earbuds, and on many Virgin flights, you can connect to the IFE by bluetooth. I always sit in the last row of PE as the seats recline there as far as all others, and I don't have to be concerned about people behind me. Great review!

    • @Travelsbydreamer
      @Travelsbydreamer  8 месяцев назад

      Thank you! Great tip on the final row, it’s a trick I often go for as it’s so nice being able to recline whenever you fancy, especially on those overnight flights. Looking forward to getting onboard with them again soon ✈️

    Virgin far better than BA for premium IMHO. Flew with Virgin to Tampa in January. Seats had calf rests - best night sleep I've ever had on a plane. Also snack bar in the galley was a nice extra.

    • @Travelsbydreamer
      @Travelsbydreamer  10 месяцев назад +2

      Does depend a little bit given the type of content you’re considering but as I understand, generally not as they’re public places. Airlines are increasingly introducing policies around filming onboard however so is becoming harder…

    Looks pretty service, as you mentioned nice to be able to board before the majority of other passengers, food looked reasonably good but perhaps the presentation could have been a little better, the pre landing afternoon tea looked good were the scones warm? Virgin standards have certainly slipped in recent years but this flight looked good. -3 in NYC not good.

    • @Travelsbydreamer
      @Travelsbydreamer  10 месяцев назад

      Yeah the boarding was an absolute dream just to be able to go down the moment the boarding gate was called. Would love if that’s a policy of theirs!
      Scones I don’t think warm but did take me a while to get to them so perhaps but unlikely.
      Will be good to see how they’ll develop the PE offering I think. The temps in NYC were freezing, -6 the following night! 🥶

    Definitely worth upgrading in my opinion, and to me Virgin seem to have the edge over BA in premium economy on this route, especially with their catering. As you say there's still room for improvement though, hopefully they will upgrade the headphones and address their WiFi prices in the near future.

    • @Travelsbydreamer
      @Travelsbydreamer  10 месяцев назад

      Yeah well worth the upgrade I think. What I’ve loved for some time about Virgin is that they make you feel that bit more special in the PE cabin, really feels like a premium experience. With BA it feels quite a way down the pecking order in so many ways at times…

  • @monticlassictv

    I did the upgrade to get the extra legroom but for me there was absolutely no difference from economy but then again I’m 6ft 4” and almost every airliner is a tight squeeze for me.

    • @Travelsbydreamer
      @Travelsbydreamer  2 месяца назад

      That’s for sure a fair bit of height to accommodate, I’d hope the additional roughly 6-7 inches of legroom would be useful though but as you say, probably still pretty tight. Budget depending, might be worth looking at some more budget friendly business class options. Jet blue etc can be nicely priced for transatlantic on that front…

  • @shihlin1
    @shihlin1 6 месяцев назад

    Food and catering def BETTER than BA.
    The presentation just oozes CLASS.
    Even tho Virgin doesn't serve a second hot meal like other transatlantic airlines, the items are several notches above the ordinary, the tea sandwich and Macarons.
    Again, spells class

    • @Travelsbydreamer
      @Travelsbydreamer  6 месяцев назад

      @Travelsbydreamer  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks! Mostly Apple products but that could well change into the future!
      In terms of the recording element, I’m usually on before most passengers then don’t record much work people in shot. The crew are quite wise to people vlogging these days also as so many people do it. Airlines such as Qantas have begun introducing restrictions within this space also around filling crew and passengers faces etc

      Thank you! Does depend sadly aircraft to aircraft even within airlines. BA have it on their refurbed planes, so I’d check out the 777’s with them if that’s important for you. Other airlines such as Emirates have it across fleet as PE is just on their 380 for now (as far as I know) but that’s of little help I assume heading over there from the UK. I’d check out the likes of Delta also, they’re a good carrier and would expect them to have it at a guess. Safe travels ✈️

    Not too shabby at all. WiFi pricing is a shocker though. Swings and Roundabouts between Virgin and BA but for me, it's silly things like Fever Tree, Bombay Sapphire and wine in a tin being the deal breaker, far too trendy..ha!!. Comparing your 2 reports I'd book BA...they just have that quintessentially British vibe and the colour scheme of their cabins looks more classy/traditional. Excellent report...keep them coming.

    Delta could really learn a thing or two from their partner Virgin Atlantic. Last flight I had with them was in premium select and they served dinner in cardboard boxes. It was on a flight from MSP to LHR.
    I was shocked to be honest considering in the past when I was in premium select they had real dinnerware.
    Also wine was served in a plastic cup, like the cheap crap you buy at Walmart and you get like 100 cups for a few bucks.
    There was nothing premium about that experience whatsoever.

      @@Travelsbydreamer it was! Don't get me wrong the seating was very nice and actually has better leg support as the seat had a leg rest instead of the tacky footrest most if not all Virgin planes have. But when I pay considerably more for premium vs main cabin I expect an upgrade with the meal service too. I now try to avoid Delta and take Virgin Atlantic if possible. Especially now that they've overhauled (downgraded) their loyalty program.
      In the past if I took two premium select flights I'd have enough points to get silver status whereas now I'd have to get 4 or 5 of those flights
