Nice video Shane! The outlet extender looks pretty cool. It’s odd that not all the outlets are smart, but it’s probably not typical that you would need so many at one location.

That thing where the speed of the dimmer turn sets the ramp rate for brighten/dim is pretty cool (and different). I usually find these things too twitchy to make small adjustments. That's a pretty neat solution.

Yea it works quite well once I figured it out lol. I like it too.

like the review shane. I have several TP-Link smart switches and dimmers, kitchen, bedrooms lights and fans, a motion sensor switch in the master closet, and my big win was teh motion sensor dimmer in the laundry room. all working well with alexa. could have used this a few years ago, but not sure where i'd put it now.

I have the outlet extender, haven’t been able to get it to pair with the app but it at least works as a plug

That outlet looks great. I wonder if you can handle an air conditioner. Looking to automate my air conditioner. Currently use it either outlet search

About a month ago, I got some of their matter indoor smart plugs. Things were going well, and I needed to replace some outdoor smart plugs so I ordered a few of those. Yesterday, they arrived. But my Wi-Fi went totally off the rails around 10AM (I wasn't doing anything unusual). Like someone was jamming my wi-fi. I spent 8 hours trying to get it to calm down, reset my router & satellites, removed any device I added over the past few weeks, tried a few different wi-fi settings, nothing made it better, some things made it worse. I finally pulled out the last of the TP Link indoor plugs - all of which had gone offline as well, and after that, my network started to mostly return to normal (we're talking over 70 devices). Hmm. I later tried to reset one of those and add it back, and the network went bonkers again.
Since I got things stable again, I added one of the outdoor plugs this morning. I don't use that circuit often but it's not messing me up (yet). I also have one of their HK smart plugs which occasionally needs to be replugged to get it to connect again. I hesitate to blame that on them, it's in a challenging location for Wi-Fi signals.
The outlet strip looks interesting. Very similar to the Gosund I have in my garage for years (not HK, but connected via homebridge) which has 3 switched outlets, 3 unswitched, and USB switched. I usually just tell the Echo Dot in the garage to charge each of my bikes (runs for 7 hours). Since the Gosund has been reliable, I probably won't replace it. I'm stuck with Tuya stuff anyway. I can see a use for that dimmer with a floor lamp in the living room, have to see if my wife would go for it first.

The outlook extender looks nice. Real shame it isn't Matter though as I'm working to rebuild my system from the ground up and with 100% matter devices if at all possible.

Nice video review of the Tapo products, I’d also like to see a review of the Tapo video doorbell with keypad, it doesn’t appear to be retrofit which is the type that I would need. Is the Aqara 200 door lock available yet? Will you be reviewing it? Thanks

Thanks for the feedback! I believe people who backed the kickstarter for the Aqara U200 have received theirs, but the product is not for sale officially yet. I am planning to make a video about it. I have been testing it for a while.

I love all tapo devices my entire house is tapo tp link. The bad many automation are still basic compare to other companies, integration with Google is basic. (Alexa and Smarthing are better but not amazing). I still believe they are going the right way, but need to be more aggressive with compatibility with Google and many other things..

@ShaneCreates will the Physical Dimmable Switch Button will work with any Dimmable Matter Enabled 💡 brands combined and grouped in Apple HomeKit? A combined group of OREiN, LIFX, and Linkind 💡’s

No, the dimmer dial works only with the lamp plug that it comes with. It is intended to use with traditional (dumb) lamps to make them smart.

With so many products being smart now, I find it hard to find a use for smart plugs these days. I have 3 kasa plugs collecting dust
Anyone have any interesting use cases?

For this, the lamp should support dimmer feature. I have some lamps don't

Tp link do last, it's just if they start to give up on the brand like they have with Kasa. I have a few Kasa products which is owned by TP Link. Makes trusting them long-term a problem as they may start to give up on the brand
