I remember when I was at Henesys market, an a lv 70 dude came up to me and asked if I wanted to be his "sister" (fake families were a thing during that time) and so I agreed. I was only level 56 at that time so I didn't know why of all people, he asked me. He gave me a looooot of things even though I didn't ask for any, and he was a real big brother to me. However, overtime he became more inactive. I remember we agreed a day before to train together, but on the next day, he never came online. I didn't think much of it but day by day, as I went onto MS, I'd rarely/or never see him online. It may be due to the difference in our schedules, but I just felt that he was no longer interested in the game and quit. This was in 2008, and I still remember his IGN-- FeatherDog.

I really wish nexon would reboot maplestory like Runescape did with the old version (I dont play but i know of it). This would be pre big bang and have only the explorers as classes. Maybe expand on new territories instead of flooding the game with classes.

Just everything before 2013. I feel so much nostalgia just thinking about it. God I miss the people i met and just hanging out with them, making guilds with them, being part of guild wars and drama. The party quests and all the places where people would just talk to each other and before you know it you're best buds. Also being introduced to other people through friends you already had. Oh my god i miss it.
1: walking in the apple suit near all the billboards at the start of a new character. 2: actually play the game together because it was fun, leveling was challenging from the beginning and it wasnt so much pay to win as it is now..
Thanks so much for these nostalgic videos. The things I miss the most from old maplestory is probably something you mentioned, the exploring of victoria island. I miss how massive and complex the maps were, how hidden the hiddenstreets really were, and I miss finding specific cool hang out or meet up spots that still felt nostalgic when I went back to them. A place I spent bonding with a close friend has since been removed, very disappointing. But I'd also like to mention I miss the sense of community from old maplestory. Current players may have accumulated friends and stuff, but I don't know what that's like. When I try to play maple now, I never can manage to talk to anyone. No one talks to me or gives me any mind really : (. Thank you for the video!!
Yeah the old school maps were really complicated. It was fun to explore. Now they added a boat load of add-ons. Its like a computer with a virus that gives popups. The game was simple but it was fun, and there were alot of people playing. Now there's too many maps, too many classes, too many add-ons, its just dead :(. I don't know what point it happened at.
Remember when there would sometimes be high-level players running/dashing around in Henesys dropping 1k mesos every 2 seconds and there would be hordes of noobs following them trying to pick up the money

Old henesys hut at the very left, entrance to hunting ground. It had this nostalgic feeling. It was almost free market v2. Actually met Ronald there and joined the guild "Gatekeepers". Also times when equipment drops were rare and ore collecting was something. When mobility was low and teleport and flashjump were the shit. Times when i actually read the quests because they were fun. I had a time where i actually completed all the quests i could do at lvl 50. That was right before omega sector was released in europe. Times when dexless thiefs/lukless mages were for the rich. Stats were more important.
Moon bunny PQ in henesys. I remember how freaking full the area was, we were waiting for hours till we could join. Everyone spamming and having a good time. Nostalgic
And people always pulling out their Ethernet cable to take the moon bunny cakes out of the area and making the PQ super easy. Loved the little things like that
Something is def missing from maplestory these days. It feels like an empty husk of what the game used to be. It doesn't help that I'm tearing through mobs and levels so damn fast that I can't even keep up with all the quests popping up on the sidebar. I'm doing stuff 10-20 levels under me and still steadily leveling and unlocking even more sidebar quests lmao

Still remember when I plan to go to Ellinia for magician job adv at lvl 8, but lost in sleepywood a day, couldn’t find the way back out. Until one thief guy lead me out, back to Henesys again. I played MS 3 years. In 2011 when I graduated high school, the Maplestory publisher in my country closed the game, because of the end of the contract with Nexon. It seems closed my childhood door, everyone needs to grow up, although not playing MS anymore, but I think the maplers always remember their beautiful childhood days, with Maplestory!
Exploring all of Maple Island(finding all of the hidden maps) and all of the old school Victoria Island parkour we had to do to get from town to town, because cabs were expensive as hell for noobs.
most of the old pqs and having to fight to get into them (like orbis pq/carnival pq/ ludi rush pq), how people had to get together to do stuff, and lastly having to take your time looking up skill builds
I remember I wondered down to Sleepywood with my low level warrior and I got knocked down into the pit by the entrance to the town and I couldn't get out. A higher level player found me struggling to get out and he gave me a teleport scroll so I could escape. Such a great game and community back then.
In the old Maplestory there where a lott of people who want to be your friend and wanted to level togheter. You could even create a family tree! But now, nobody wants to meet strangers and it really sucks becuase playing a game without any friends can be pretty boring... Back in the days my friendlist was to full and now I only have 2 friends who are'nt even active. It really sucks and I really mis it. >.

I actually miss the old Cygnus Knights quest believe it or not. Even though I didn't like the Cygnus Knights that much when they came out (they were really just a rehash of the explorers) but they had you travel around Victoria Island a lot, and they were fun level 10-30 quests!
Remember the traps at the noob level maps near Henesys? You better not miss a rope and fall in the golem pit, or else you'll be one shot by them. The only thing I would take back was the bigger victoria island. If EXP rates were the same now with similar mob hunting from back then it would be more fun.
I remember after like 2 years of not playing Maplestory, I came back and the Kerning party quest was gone and a lot of stuff had changed. Everything so different now lmao
everything u said with the amazing community, also like ludi pq, farming zakum eyes was cool too for some mesos, checking out new areas on my assassin with dark sight, being able to train at 20+ monsters ur lvl. i guess pre big bag mainly, theres still some good stuff after big bang but once it becomes broken im done.
Those 3 annoying ass jump quests each from Sleepywood, Kerning City, and Ellinia. The long ass map of the Ant Tunnel Dungeon. Sharenian Guild Party Quest. Legendary icons such as Tiger, Suuushi, (this list is long as hell) 133 221 333 123 111. The amount of Hidden Streets there were in the game. The Classic Three-Way Road Split. That tree that took us to Mushmom inside Henesys. I'm crying there is just too much
The community! Standing in the market selling stars for the assassins, grinding my totally awesome like, lvl 35 ice mage in the first level of the sleepywood underground, the blue mushrooms with spikes.. ah, these were the days!
I honestly just miss how social everyone was, fighting monsters was only half the fun, the other half was just interacting with other players, talking shit, partying, etc. Now when I log back in for shits and giggles it just feels... empty. Like there are people there, but no one is really interacting with each other which kind of sucks
I prefer old MapleStory over the new one since it was such a grind. I'd rather spend a long time just to reach level 30 than spend a few days to hit 170. The sense of community in the old one was great. You'd have to party up with people to actually gain levels in most areas. There wasn't much soloing anywhere. Especially bosses.
There used to be so many places you could go to train like there wasnt anywhere that was "blocked" unelss there were prequests needed and that was so awesome. Also all the PQ's were open once you hit the level require ment and prequests if there were any. Now adays maplestory has the most linear leveling experience ever. start out lvl 10 no matter what, 10-30 is heny golems, 30-40 is gold beach, 40-70 drakes, 70-140 RnJ, 140-170 DIPQ and temple of time, 170-200 door to future, 200- 250 is like kritias future perion or like absolab. There used to be so many different pqs and different maps like even after Big Bang there were like 3 different theme dungeons for lvl 30s but now most if not all theme dungeons are locked and most if not all PQs have like a 10 lvl gap where u can enter and once u go over u cant enter ever again. I miss going to random different PQs and just having fun. Now like even bosses can be way better like the old bosses (like you said) needed alot more people and it was really awesome. yeah lots of other stuff but id rather maplestory be a communication with community game while vs. environment rather than just a "who can hit cap faster" game XD but dont get me wrong its fine but yeah =P
The day people started saying change channel or CC when entering a zone made me quite the game for good, still one of the best games I played the old maple, its like a childhood friend died when they started adding OP heroes and dumbed it all down

I like it better now but i do miss the assaulter skill on old shadower. They could of kept it and just made it a aoe skill - they kinda did making it the 5th job skill but this one can only be used 4 times each 60 secs and it got so fucking long

I miss when pirate was new. I also miss when i chose to main Dark Knight just because of Tiger. I also miss all of my friends wearing jousting helmets thinking they would be as good as FangBlade. And I miss when 30k DPS was crazy high.
I actually miss the old Cygnus Knights quest believe it or not. Even though I didn't like the Cygnus Knights that much when they came out (they were really just a rehash of the explorers) but they had you travel around Victoria Island a lot, and they were fun level 10-30 quests!
Miss everything! CPQ, ludi pq, kerning, sand pq, etc heaps of stuff i miss
I miss all the old pqs, where ppl would still hang out and chill. and opq's cloud stage, where ppl would glitch the clouds out for use later.

Remember the traps at the noob level maps near Henesys? You better not miss a rope and fall in the golem pit, or else you'll be one shot by them.
The only thing I would take back was the bigger victoria island. If EXP rates were the same now with similar mob hunting from back then it would be more fun.

I remember after like 2 years of not playing Maplestory, I came back and the Kerning party quest was gone and a lot of stuff had changed. Everything so different now lmao
everything u said with the amazing community, also like ludi pq, farming zakum eyes was cool too for some mesos, checking out new areas on my assassin with dark sight, being able to train at 20+ monsters ur lvl. i guess pre big bag mainly, theres still some good stuff after big bang but once it becomes broken im done.

The community! Standing in the market selling stars for the assassins, grinding my totally awesome like, lvl 35 ice mage in the first level of the sleepywood underground, the blue mushrooms with spikes.. ah, these were the days!
I honestly just miss how social everyone was, fighting monsters was only half the fun, the other half was just interacting with other players, talking shit, partying, etc. Now when I log back in for shits and giggles it just feels... empty. Like there are people there, but no one is really interacting with each other which kind of sucks
i miss the event that all kind of bosses would spawn in villages

I prefer old MapleStory over the new one since it was such a grind. I'd rather spend a long time just to reach level 30 than spend a few days to hit 170. The sense of community in the old one was great. You'd have to party up with people to actually gain levels in most areas. There wasn't much soloing anywhere. Especially bosses.
Being level 30 was like graduating!
There used to be so many places you could go to train like there wasnt anywhere that was "blocked" unelss there were prequests needed and that was so awesome. Also all the PQ's were open once you hit the level require ment and prequests if there were any. Now adays maplestory has the most linear leveling experience ever. start out lvl 10 no matter what, 10-30 is heny golems, 30-40 is gold beach, 40-70 drakes, 70-140 RnJ, 140-170 DIPQ and temple of time, 170-200 door to future, 200- 250 is like kritias future perion or like absolab. There used to be so many different pqs and different maps like even after Big Bang there were like 3 different theme dungeons for lvl 30s but now most if not all theme dungeons are locked and most if not all PQs have like a 10 lvl gap where u can enter and once u go over u cant enter ever again. I miss going to random different PQs and just having fun. Now like even bosses can be way better like the old bosses (like you said) needed alot more people and it was really awesome. yeah lots of other stuff but id rather maplestory be a communication with community game while vs. environment rather than just a "who can hit cap faster" game XD but dont get me wrong its fine but yeah =P
The day people started saying change channel or CC when entering a zone made me quite the game for good, still one of the best games I played the old maple, its like a childhood friend died when they started adding OP heroes and dumbed it all down

I played from 2005 till 2008 or 2009 (can't remember exactly when I quit). Those were fun times indeed. I had to quit to further my studies and start my career, because I had no self control back then. 😂🤣
I remember back in the day I had a "girlfriend" we'd hang out all the time and roleplay and it was a lot of fun in my younger years. I still remember her name being "DearSprings" or something along those lines.

I like it better now but i do miss the assaulter skill on old shadower. They could of kept it and just made it a aoe skill - they kinda did making it the 5th job skill but this one can only be used 4 times each 60 secs and it got so fucking long
