The more I watch Jay Leno's Garage the more grateful I am for the program. Thank you
Jay is literally living the dream. Thank you Jay for sharing this all with us.
So the front crack isn't necessary on this?
Not with that French farce in his garage, he ain't.
If not for Jay, I would not know much about these cars. Let alone see it in action some 85 years later. To get the history and a walk through of the car's features is invaluable. Renaissance Man? You bet.
There is a thing called the internet. Google it. Admire your kids, not some guy.
@@thechemiist14 ahh I think he's prolly also saying that Jay Lenos garage kind of education is not something you're gona get off the internet or Google !!
Yep..I agree sir
@@thechemiist14 I did Google it and Jay's name popped up. It's OK to admire someone.
A pur sang type 51 replica will run you 350,000 though
Only 1/10th the original cost
And the only difference is they have plane bearing cranks and a modified firing order
I just can't get over how beautiful this car is!
Even the color is perfect!
👍👍👍
I've seen too many driven on public roads with no fenders/mudguards. You need those for sure...
That sound is incredible.
It's such a beautiful wind 😍
My jaw dropped when it started up
"There is nothing like a pre war Bugatti!" Mr. Leno, you are so right!
I think nobody says better than Jay :"it's about time to go for a ride..." Magic words!
Although all of Jays episodes are great, this is one of my favorite. The Bugatti engine sounds unreal.
Andrew Fraser the white 37A sounds better, in fact all OHC Bugatti engines sound better than DOHC T51 engines.
Andrew Fraser i know this is irrelevant but is that a real Atlantic or a replica?????????????????
Ralph Knox Johnson It has an original Bugatti chassis and engine but the body is not original
krissi halldorsson But not the correct type of chassis (T57S), in fact the value of that particular car is not that high as we might think.
"2.2 liters ? 8 cylinders ? pfff this should be weak"
--> starts the engine, sounds like a Spitfire xD
Nearly 90 years old and still one of the fastest automobiles on the road.
When Jay drives on the streets or freeway I catch myself looking to see what pedestrians & other drivers do seeing & hearing this.
i just love how he had to go to all the rituals to start the car..and when it came to life..boy it sounded so good....cold start even, no wodner people go mad over such masterpieces
I love what Jay does and have to give him credit. He takes this car that I'm sure is worth north of 5 million dollars today and given their rarity is essentially priceless and he takes them out on the road. Not only that but gives her some on top of it. That's how it is supposed to be regardless or rarity or value. These things were meant from day one to be taken out and driven, that's where they belong. there is nothing sadder than seeing a beautiful car like this sitting in a garage or warehouse only to be trailed to events on occasion. Here not only does Jay get to enjoy his amazing collection the way it's meant to be enjoyed but countless other get to see these machines out in their element and enjoy them as well. I'm sure if I saw a Bugatti Type 51 roaming the streets it would probably make my day.
Man that thing has some balls, it’s a weapon , sounds lumpy it’s just a gorgeous. It was just a wonderful mystic time. Even through hardship those mechanical artists created those jewels. To bad I can only collect hand made models , I only experience the emotion of driving them through you Mr Leno ,thank you.
awww man that whine sounds freaking amazing!!! this car is so ahead of its time!!!
those wheels look modern in freaking 2013.
Very cool .. Love this show , Jay is better suited for this than the Tonight show ..Thanks for postingAlberta Dave
And what i love most about Jay is that he drives a 1930 car like it's nothing, throttles hard and stuff! Props to him all day!
Holy moly, I think this is the best video from Jay Leno's Garage. Amazing!
I saw one of those old time Bugattis in Algarve, Portugal. A real head turner. People were lining up to take pictures with it. Sadly it was parked and I couldn't hear it work.
Les voitures présentées par jay leno's garage sont toujours de magnifiques restorations dans l'état d'origine,et surtout on va faire un petit tour avec jay a chaque fois.
Thank you Mr leno for that.
I know I am 3 years late in commenting Jay but I hope you buy the car! You will love and give this car the home it deserves. As always Jay, TY so much for sharing these treasures with us. No one else would care to do so with the humility and class you have. I TY you dearly my friend.
This is one of your top episodes. It just purrs along. Well done.
Jay I love so much your programs, history and the story you add on it, is amazing.
Jay is just having way too much fun. Thanks for sharing another treasure. Outstanding.
What a jewel! Your videos bring joy every day; thanks so much for continuing to share.
Everytime I watch one of these videos I say,"okay thats enough, time for bed", then I see the next one in the feed and I can't resist.
Mr Leno I appreciate you being such a fantastic trustee of your vehicles and sharing them your long time subs. I eagerly watched the My Classic Cars episodes you took part in 20-25 years ago with Dennis Gage sharing and driving vehicles typically reserved to photography and editorials in magazines. I have started going back during this lock down and rewatching old episodes and find them equally enjoyable if not more enjoyable as I did in 2012. Thank you again
That engine has a note all its own, the power of that supercharged antique was really amazing.
Jay-we're so lucky you do these videos. Fantastic. Thanks.
Mr Leno, you are an American Treasure. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and fruit of your labor.
Thanks jay Most beautiful sound of the engine I’ve ever heard
Thanks for the history ! Always enjpy your work ~
Jay, I love the Atlantic' lurking in the background at 5:00. you bring class to Automobile interest!
Everyone in their cars around where jay was driving were just like, "oh, there's jay again, in one of his many Bugattis, no biggie." Lol
There is no comparison between this and the Veyron. Pre-war Bugattis have such class and they present so beautifully. I loved the shot of the engine reflected in the supercharger oil tank. Buy it Jay. You know you want to.
This video is awesome, Jay really conveys how exciting this car is to drive, a truly amazing machine
The starting procedure is so damn raw and mechanical! Amazing! Nothing at all like modern cars!
Never ceases to amaze me with his knowledge of the cars and their history.
Thanks for doing these Jay, much appreciated.
Jay Leno's Garage should do videos like this of all his cars. I'd watch and love every one!
"That's the best sounding engine!" That's an understatement!
Buy the car Jay ! Buy the car ! Money is just money, but that Bug is priceless !
Damn, I really like the vintage artwork on the background of his garage :O
God bless Jay Leno.
He is a bonefied automobile historian, a historical automobile steward, he's a restorer of historical automobiles, and he is a historical automobile hobbiest, and driver.
Amazing Car! I love the sound of the straight 8!
I never knew about your Bugatti collection. Truly amazing!!!
pulls nicely ,im impressed i didnt expect it to run or sound that well ,impressive for its time .i liked the video, thank you
You should most definitely buy it
yes.. great investment..
What a neat car! Thanks for sharing Jay
Is there a special exemption to be able to drive this - no mudguards, open wheels, no turn signals etc - on roads in California?
A magnificent vehicle indeed! Truly a work of art!
That car sounds amazing, I love the mechanical sound of it! Beautiful, absolutely gorgeous car.
I've been waiting for this one! I saw the Type 51 in another video of yours and was hoping you'd cover it!
I've seen Jay in either this blue Bugatti or the other one (type 37?) on Mulholland. He was cool enough to wave to me and my friends chilling at a turnout. Love the show!
My favorite episode. Seeing that Blue racer getting it... Just awesome.
I'd rather have this than a Veyron. Seriously
+rob poynter Agree. The Veyron is too much of a footballer's car that people with more money than sense buy.
sure but that Type 51 is likely a couple of times more expensive than the new Veyron.....
Money not invmolved, it does look like a very fun track toy... and that's befoe it was a thing.
Type 51s are becoming more sort after, but one was found in a barn in my country, and it went for a relatively average price. No more than $30,000US
40 years ago maybe, replicas from Pur Sang go for $450K so a real one is definitely more than $30K: chassis #51132 failed to change hands at $2,750,000 at Grand Palais auction with Bonhams in 2011
Thanks Jay, I loved this vid...
Jay, Thanks for sharing your garage life!!
Jay uploads so many videos I love it
Buy it! That engine has great throttle response for something that's 80 years old, at a time when most car engines were low rpm flat heads.
BUY IT JAY !!!! WAY COOOL. You can't have to many Bugatti's
I don't know the first thing about cars, but I can appreciate excellence, whether it be mechanical, architectural, musical, or artistic.
"Inline" = the most durable engine configuration.
All of Bugatti's cars are beautiful machines.
love to see one of these cars being driven and used. thats what they were made for! so awesome.
thanks jay, real up pealing. brings a smile to my soul. maybe some day I could afford a classic. thanks you.
this car, is a DREAM !!!!
I agree Jay... Those are some of the best looking cars of all time, so classy!!! 👌
Jay you are truly a lucky man to own all of these amazing cars!
oh man !!!! that's a beautiful piece ...
i would love to visit Jay's garage !!!!
Thank you !! i never expected to see this car on the go
Very nice watch J ! That’s a trinket to you that watch could literally change my life !
It's called envy. Lots, and lots, of people have envy problems. It doesn't matter how well they're doing, if they see another guy who's doing better, they go nuts. I'm thrilled for Jay, and very glad he's willing to show us his cool toys. BTW, those cars are investments. When you have as much money as he does, you need to put it somewhere that inflation won't eat it up.
That sound is absolutely magical.
Leno's intro face... priceless!
Wow, that was awesome! What a beautiful car, I'd buy it Jay, if just for the engine sound alone. I was hoping you'd take it for a spin and so you did. Great stuff!
Wonderful stuff, thanks.
I wasn't a fan of many of Jay's old cars, but this one is different. the sound is just incredible. i hope he bought it.
For the age that thing was made in, it flies.Very impressive acceleration. Most cars made for the public in that age went decidedly slower, and didn't get there very quickly. Imagine what that must have been like back then. Flying around corners in this busy to operate machine, going faster than most people would ever go in their lifetime, the fame and romance. It must have been terrifying being so naked before the laws of physics.
"I think he wants to sell it to me, I don't know what do you guys think?" Jay I'm a huge Bugatti fan and since I'll probably never even see a real one outside of an automotive museum I think I speak for everyone when I say please let me live vicariously through you and buy the damn car already!!!
soundgasmic
Amazing, and it sounds so good!
Sounds great! That will look good in your collection.
Love it how Jay tries to tame such a raw beast.
Wow, what a noise.
Love your style Jay!
Efficienato of the Autosymphonico . . . Jay Leno - Luv your passion bro
If I could drive one car in Jay’s Garage this is what I would pick.

Love watching Jay hammer it in what I can only assume is a hugely valuable irreplaceable car. Let er rip
Hi from France, my grandfather had a Bugatti Type 51 and he made the mistake to sell it. Hopefully People like Jay Leno acts as a guardian of the temple.
What an engine noise, superb
Jay, you are one lucky man to be driving such art.
what an awesome car... top 5 of jays garage
Oh yeah, and what a beautiful car!
Gotta love a car that you have to strap the hood in place! beautiful car and a beautiful noise
love the sound
Love the wheels. they have a modern look to them.
Just love the sound !
Jay is very knowledgeable about anything mechanical. Cars motorcycles tractors steam and gas engines.
The smile as he drives one of these classics is infectous.
Oh good lord !! That music !! 🤤
Thank for driving it wow. Amazing what a sound
