When I first discovered Brian Cox, around 12 years ago, I was instantly enthralled by his voice and the way he describes physics. Not since Carl Sagan, has any physicist had that affect on me.
This is so cool; they find really creative and intuitive ways of explaining physics to the "ordinary" public. This is the second video of this series I've watched so far, the other being on time / entropy

One of the things that happens according to Einstein's theory is that Time and Space flip spots. So in our understanding of the universe Time only flows one direction. In Space we have the option of moving about in space. But in a blackhole, once you are past the event horizon the only way you can "move" is through time. Space only flows one direction and that's towards the singularity. If that makes sense. So in a way you could see move in time into the future and see what will happen at the end, but your destiny is already decided you're stuck and you can't get out no matter what.

Q: Some planets collect more dust from space than others, and some planets can become so heavy that they implode, with less empty space in their mass? That could explain origin of black holes and also some observations of gammaraybursts? Or not?
omar kayali sound is essentially atoms and molecules knocking together and passing on vibrations, so yes in a way a black hole would absorb sound because the black hole would absorb matter, meaning vibrations wouldn't occur and wouldn't be able to be passed on.
there are thousands of planets in our galaxy alone with life, the distance is the only obstacle to meet and know them. the closest star from us is so far that will take around 78000 years in the fastest ship ever made by mankind to reach there.
It totally looks that way. But it has to do with the crappy upload this person did. I have watched it in a much higher quality and it doesn't look like that. But I agree, with this shitty upload it completely looks like a green screen plus it isn't showing the whole shot. It's all zoomed in and crappy. I read recently that in some the most advanced simulations of star death many of the simulated stars don't explode at all they simply collapse into their own stellar black hole thereby rendering the resulting black hole totally dark and alone. The very second I learned that this might be the case with many stars the whole idea about the universe being heavier that it looks like came into a new light, perhaps we are surrounded by invisible dead stars and not exotic dark matter. herpa derp?
I always try to visualize a three dimensional plug hole....not a real 3D plug hole like we're familiar with its planar 2D hole/opening, but an actual 3D "plug sphere"; one that empties the bath tub from every direction yet has no visible connection/outlet to a drain pipe.....then I blow a brain fuse!
According to carl schwarzchilde (spelling) space becomes time and time becomes space as you enter the singularity which by my definition is another universe. So is our universe a product of another universes black hole and our universe condemned to decay into other universes
@findthecomputerroom6 apparently, we are really lucky that we can see the stars, because the universe is expanding, it will be more and more empty as the stars more separated from each others. The stars we see, most don't exist anymore, their light is reaching us now, centuries after they died. And our civilization exists in this precise moment, when the light of many stars are reaching our tiny planet.
@peteq1972 brain freeze! hahaha - thank you for not taking the mick out of me - that was a very good explanation. i will now learn this off by heart and bring it up casually in conversation so as to give people the impression that I am infinitely smarter than everyone else in my kitchen. I just wondered whether the principles involved in an event horizon/black hole are similar to the events that occur just before and during the onset of a Tornado on Earth. After seeing on the news about the recent tornados in USA, the explanation of how they occur made me think of this explanation by Brian Cox of what happens in space. There are storms on other planets too (eg Jupiter) do we need to understand more about our universe to understand why things on Earth occur too.

I wonder why they say spaghettify as if your body will stretch like a chewing gum. Won't you break into shreds because your flesh can't stand that much of tension. So, you should dart towards blackhole in a series of shreds.
Soul Fallen not really, because of the atom bonds in your body the part of your body that enters the event horizon will be sucked in with such a force that it will basically pull the part adjacent to it and that part will pull the next one and so on, making it look like you got spaghettified

If first the theory is right than how did something with so low entropy came into being from something with so much high entropy? Its totally reversed in case of our solar system than.

@findthecomputerroom6 As for infiniteness, imagine a balloon: its surface does not have an end, it is infinite, and when you blow it, its larger and larger... some think of a curved universe, not like a balloon, maybe a donught, or another shape. And where does it expand to? is the growing of the universe itself creating space and time while it grows? Never stop making questions, 13 year olds first questions have been the inspiration for great Scientists, no kidding!
Calling black holes violent is simply prejudice. He has never met one so how could he know. I'm sure that they're not all bad. I once thought that all people from Manchester were violent.
