no it wouldnt be a waste of money if you wanted the features of push 2, but in my opinion, machine is great and can do alot of what the push can do, but the push does some stuff machine cant. just depends if you really want those features! mike black doesnt really know what hes talking about, but anyway, complete waste of money? well, it depends on how important the extra features in push are...like for example, push has 64 pads you can play instruments, notes, and scales, machine cant, and push is meant to have bettter workflow with live. so do the research, and decide for yourself.

Push does what maschine will, plus you will end up tracking out from maschine to ableton anyway cause its not a full daw.
