Having watched a lot of Dimash performances and reactions for the past 4 years or so, I always enjoy seeing someone just first discovering this amazing performer. You asked whether or not Dimash won _I am a singer 2017_, and the answer is that he took second place, but without anyone outsinging him. You see, this has to do with Chinese culture, not with only the singing that took place. Dimash was a wild-card foreigner that most people there hadn't heard of, and further, he was the youngest person ever to enter the competition. Owing to the cultural boundaries involved, they literally could not allow him to take first place, so they gave him second. First place went to a Chinese singer -- a highly talented and accomplished Chinese singer, to be sure -- and thereby, no national face was lost. Dimash's only comment on his placement was that he didn't care what place he took, but rather cared only whether or not the audience enjoyed his work. From what I've seen, this is something you just have to deal with when you get into international performing. Culture governs a lot of what happens, and if Dimash doesn't let it bother him, I don't suppose I should let it bother me. Again, I don't believe anyone outsang him, even if he'd come in 99th. This is my personal favorite SOS performance, but many people prefer the one from the 2019 Slavic Bazaar, and I wouldn't be surprised if different people preferred others. There's no accounting for taste, right? I assume you're going to watch many more Dimash performances and reactions, & probably react some more yourself, so rather than try to tell you which ones to do in what order, I'm just going to say, "Buckle up!" Every hundred years or so, a boy with an amazing voice comes along. And a really good ear for pitch. If the parents or teachers spot it really early and get him to professional training before maybe the age of 8, keep him away from harmful foods and drink and if he really likes singing and works hard at it, then you get a miracle singer that you never thought was possible. Dimash was born to parents that are both professional singers in different music types. They accidentally discovered he had perfect absolute pitch when he was 4. He noticed that the piano at home had the wrong notes. Most home pianos don't get tuned up very often, so they will usually sound fine, but all the notes will be one or two percent lower than concert pitch. He noticed. So they sent him to the national music academy at 5. They have video on YT of his grandmother walking him in. He liked it so much that he trained hard, even all the way through puberty on a classical/opera music program. Since he trained through puberty, he kept his childhood high range. Since he had been training about 3 hours a day for 17 years as of this 2017 performance, he actually had more voice training time than most of the competition and much more scientific and exacting training than most people get. He follows the old classical rules and avoids harmful food and drink. He swims, especially underwater, to improve his breath control. His parents have taught him how to be a good human being and a gracious professional singer. None of those 20-something year old immature fiascos that happen so often in the U.S. music industry. For example, the "World's Best" competition was editing songs harshly, rushing work and making him sing while sick. No trantrum. But when they tried to make him compete against the kids he was mentoring, he graciously but firmly resigned from the competition he was clearly winning. Since then, he has been very selective of the organizers that sings under to avoid any future unpleasantness. We want beautiful songs, not industry drama. So we end up with an amazing singer who is polite, hard working, gives credit to all his co-workers and support staff and commits himself to constant improvement. Since that 2017 public debut, he has improved his lower range a lot, improved his upper range some, improved his French and English pronunciation, finished a few music degrees and made excellent musical alliances. He is also writing much more of his own music. As a singer, he is like that crazy BMX stunt biker who can stand with one toe on the seat, touch one handlebar and make the bike spin and flip around him. DImash knows the balance and pressure of all his registers and voice textures through talent and massive practice. We do not deserve it, but we will not hesitate to enjoy it. And clearly, the fans will support him fully. You don't waste miracles.
Still just the tip of the iceberg. You have not seen his lowest nor his highest. He sings in many languages including English now. One of his latest El Amor En Ti is in Spanish and he does alto, tenor, soprano and pop. You will see performances that will make you hold your breath, cry, laugh and in the end you just get addicted to hearing Dimash. He should come with a warning label because he will make you frown on other music. Add to it that he is a very humble, sweet and respectful person. His MV, The Story of One Sky is his feeling on war and it is intense, often hard to watch but says so much. He wrote the song, the script, sang ALL the parts and acted as one of the main characters. You may need to make his videos a little transparent to keep from being blocked. While that is certainly a pain, he is well worth it. Found him in 2017. Went to his New York concert in 2019 and can not go a day without hearing his music.

Welcome to Dimash world! You haven’t seen anything jet!!! This is about 1/3 or so what he can do! The rockband "Lions" said that he looked like the singer Terry Lin! He is from Kazakhstan and has been music schooled sense 5 years old and told the teacher that the piano was out of tune! He sings about 7 octaves or so! No one knows he is still learning. He sings higher than the piano can go! He also writs and compose own songs, plays bunch of instruments including Dombra there own Kazakh instrument that has a sound you can’t believe and onley 2 strings! He also sings in about 14 (Kazakh, Turkish, Usceck, Russian, Ukranian, Serbien, Bulgarian Chinese , Italien, Spamish, French, English, German, Japanese ) languages and speaks 3 so far (Kazakh, Russian and English). Dimash has an excellent education: he graduated from the College of Music with a degree in Opera Singing, university of arts in the specialty "Estrada and jazz vocals", and on June 18, 2020, he completed a master's degree in Composition. He graduated with a degree in opera from the music school at the University of Aktobe (2014), a degree in pop/jazz from the National Arts University in Nur Sultan (2018), just completed his Master's degree in composition (June 2020) and have started his PhD. He have done some contests in his life but the one I think got the worlds intension is "The Singer" (Allso called "I am a singer" or "Singer") from China in 2017. The Singer is a program for established Chinese singers to face off against each other invites only in a competition where votes were cast by an audience of 500. Dimash Qudaibergen was a last-minute inclusion (a 'dark horse'). But his performance of 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' electrified the audience, his fellow competitors and the viewers who numbered in the billions (this program was one of the most-watched in China and outside). They also got him the nickname "Imported little brother" the day after the show. They also had to get bodyguard for Dimash do to the famous over night both in China and also the world. Dimash wasn’t really prepared for that. He had come to China at 22 years young man by him self and didn’t know the language. They hade contracted him for 2 shows because they didn’t think he cold go further than that. He didn’t think they would like him. So he was nervous this performers that he had also to start the show with. But they hade to change that do to his famous over night. For this performance he was voted 1st, but overall he placed 2nd. Its a 3 month long competition show. They get ranked week to week, as long as your not last you get to stay. This took place in China, and he's not Chinese or speak the language.
He trained since he was 5, then between 16 and 20 studied and trained in Classical, then 20-24 in Contemporary (Jazz, Pop). Still does vocal training regularly (28 yo now), ~3 hours/day, with vocal coaches. He has degrees in both Classical (Bel Canto) and Contemporary. His Bel Canto teacher called him a tenor, and Dimash calls himself a "regular tenor who uses high register in the most important/emotional part of the songs". But he had a nice low register since young, and a high register which he trained in classical style mostly by himself during university days. I think he was keen on using any bit of range he could access for artistic expression, and it paid off beautifully. He can master pretty much every register, from baritone to soprano, in different styles. He can also access bass register and a bit of subharmonics, and the whistle register - in the 7th octave ; he can handle 6th octave in head voice +/- flageolet. That being said, he doesn`t always use a big vocal range in his songs, some are in a single register, but just as beautiful and fascinating, due to the vocal techniques used, and the emotion he is able to convey. Hi! Before this Chinese TV show, he won important international singing competitions. Then at the age of 22, he was invited to this TV show for professional Chinese well-established singers. He was the first foreigner on this show ever and the youngest. People say he didn't win because he was a foreigner (he took the second place). At The World Best he quit because, in the finals, there were him and 2 children and in his culture you don't compete with children, they think it's unfair and that you can't destroy children's dreams. He could earn a million dollars but he quit. This is how Dimash is. 🥰🥰🥰 After those competitions he said he would not compete anymore, he would do his own concerts all around the world. He didn't win because foreigners were not allowed to win. He also did not win World's Best because they put him up against kids and he refused to compete with kids. His fans ( Dears ) love him even more for his humanness and humbleness. Many people watch Sinful passion and Adagio after this, but anything is great.

SOS is part of the French/Canadian musical/rock opera Starmania. The hero finds his girlfriend killed and sings this song over her dead body. The show had a policy against awarding prize money to a foreigner, so Dimash came in second. However, this song, his first on the show, brought him immediate fame and a bodyguard was waiting at his door the next morning. He regularly performs in China, and "The Singer" program brought him back several times to guest star. I suspect he was the reason they changed their policy the next year, so Brit Jessie J won.
I still think this is the best place to start a Dimash journey, rather than the most recent performances, so you can work your way to where he is now. Born with a gift to singing parents in Kazakhstan (His mother was an opera singer), he has been studying music since age 5. He doesn't speak French, but this song became his calling card in competitions because it was one of the few songs to give an example of his vocal range. It is usually said that he only came in second because he wasn't Chinese. Also, this was a competition of established singers, and the person who won was a Chinese fan favourite. The next year they changed the rules, invited more foreign singers, and Jessie J from England won. There are some other good Dimash performances on this show, but some people skip ahead to "Sinful Passion" from 2018, where he shows some other vocal skills.
It is like the gateway song to true Dimash addiction, lol. I agree that it's a great introductory song in that it gives a clear flavour of his ability without perhaps being overwhelming like some of his other songs.

Not you, the video clip. Not to mention the show treated him like garbage and lied to him 😑 ... Anyway, Dimash is Magnificent and Extraordinarily Talented in many areas. Most Importantly He is An AMAZING Humble Beautiful Man with A Huge HEART that IS PURE ❤️ ♥️♥️ .. Dimash is 28 and has been studying music since he was 5 years old. He has absolute pitch and apparently told his family that their piano was out of tune when he was about that age too! Another cute story is that when he was 2 he used to take all the music cassettes he could find in the house to bed with him! And when other kids were drawing cars, he drew himself on a big stage with amplifiers and microphone and other musical equipment! He says he has always known that music is what he wanted to do. Both his parents are singers so this worked out well. If you want to hear his name pronounced, watch "Love is Like a Dream". And it's a beautiful song too though very different from this one. And as to how he can do what he does, well... his last name means "given by God". (But yes, he has worked very very very hard training his talent.)

I'm glad you went back and did a different version. To try and answer a few of your questions. 1. He has abnormally long vocal cords for a man. 2. He's been musically trained since the age of 5 and has been around music and singers since he was born, his mother is an operatic soprano. 3. He's the hardest working musician out there, he never stops practicing, learning and seeking out new techniques and sounds. 4. He lives and breathes music, if you watch him listening to music, he is completely gone into another world. No matter where he is or who he is with he's totally engrossed in the music. In fact the only time I've seen him ask someone to wait for an autograph is when he was listening to a young boy playing the piano.

Having said that, I reckon even angels would struggle to sing like this. I thought very highly of Steve Tyler, for his range, but he don't even come close to Dimash.. While correct, the emotion that goes into this performance is a lot heavier, due to both the competition circumstances and the fact that the Slavic Bazaar version was heavily autotuned against Dimash's will.

Yes, there are many performances of this song, but for me this is still the best even after several years - he was an unknown, put on first because not much was expected of him (the audience were encouraged to applaud loudly to give him confidence) and then he did this... Those waiting back-stage had to follow him and you can tell what they were thinking from their expressions... He came second - it was a bit contraversial because the winner was Chinese and there were allegations of it being a "political" win - but the lady that did win was also outstanding, so... Didn't make any difference in the long run 👍😎 The next year has KZ who was also outstanding - her first appearance was a rather awesome interpretation of "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele.

Most of the people they showed were competitors, all of them seasoned popular singers in China, and you can see their faces. You should watch the next episode, too, where he sang Opera 2, which was already popular in China from performances by Russian singer Vitas, but Dimash took it to the next level. His stage presence, which was a bit hampered in this performance by his visible nervousness, is unreal. Try find a version with English subtitles.
Dimash was only 22 years old when he opened and won the very first episode of the I Am Singer Chinese show in 2017 with this performance of SOS - a showcase competition for well known, established, professional Chinese singers, with a voting audience of 500 people from the music industry. The French part of this was just in the vocals; the song was written for a French rock opera. The audience is mostly Chinese and the subtitles are in Chinese. I don't think there is any further French in the song past the closing. Dimash does, though, thank the conductor in English.

Dimash can say words in 16 languages but cannot speak more than three of them well enough to be called multilingual. Nevertheless, it takes a certain talent to belly up to the bar and sing in a language you don't speak. Dmimash often uses a teleprompter with foreign lyrics put into phonetic style so he can make reference to it as needed.

Who's going to out sing him? You're right. NO-ONE! And several hundred million Chinese viewers agree with you! But did he win he 2017 series of the Chinese 'Singer' competition? ( Which is invitation only to established artists and the audience are all industry professionals. } That's a dangerous question! NO! And it caused an outrage. Your pronunciation is pretty good. (Close enough to be passable). Just not so slow in the middle (dai could be shorter). (2017 &2018 are the best versions - er - most favorite versions. 2018 has better sound quality and he looks like the master he is). (2017 has the charm). There are earlier versions (like 2012) that few have heard & are a bit different). fyi. He came in 2nd overall (1st for the day), BUT this show has a rule (or policy, etc) that no foreigner can win the overall competition. (show is in China). fyi. Those guys in the room are among his competitors. Noteworthy: He and many others can sing much higher through whistle notes, but that is something different. Full voice does have soft limits as he shows here getting into the whistle range on some of his top notes. He has trained since he was about 5 though the man is very gifted. Hope all this is helpful.

Thank you, BED, for this Dimash reaction, and welcome to Dimash World. Having watched a lot of Dimash performances and reactions for the past 4 years or so, I always enjoy seeing someone just first discovering this amazing performer.
You asked whether or not Dimash won _I am a singer 2017_, and the answer is that he took second place, but without anyone outsinging him. You see, this has to do with Chinese culture, not with only the singing that took place. Dimash was a wild-card foreigner that most people there hadn't heard of, and further, he was the youngest person ever to enter the competition. Owing to the cultural boundaries involved, they literally could not allow him to take first place, so they gave him second. First place went to a Chinese singer -- a highly talented and accomplished Chinese singer, to be sure -- and thereby, no national face was lost. Dimash's only comment on his placement was that he didn't care what place he took, but rather cared only whether or not the audience enjoyed his work. From what I've seen, this is something you just have to deal with when you get into international performing. Culture governs a lot of what happens, and if Dimash doesn't let it bother him, I don't suppose I should let it bother me. Again, I don't believe anyone outsang him, even if he'd come in 99th.
This is my personal favorite SOS performance, but many people prefer the one from the 2019 Slavic Bazaar, and I wouldn't be surprised if different people preferred others. There's no accounting for taste, right?

Every hundred years or so, a boy with an amazing voice comes along. And a really good ear for pitch. If the parents or teachers spot it really early and get him to professional training before maybe the age of 8, keep him away from harmful foods and drink and if he really likes singing and works hard at it, then you get a miracle singer that you never thought was possible.
Dimash was born to parents that are both professional singers in different music types. They accidentally discovered he had perfect absolute pitch when he was 4. He noticed that the piano at home had the wrong notes. Most home pianos don't get tuned up very often, so they will usually sound fine, but all the notes will be one or two percent lower than concert pitch. He noticed.
So they sent him to the national music academy at 5. They have video on YT of his grandmother walking him in.
He liked it so much that he trained hard, even all the way through puberty on a classical/opera music program. Since he trained through puberty, he kept his childhood high range. Since he had been training about 3 hours a day for 17 years as of this 2017 performance, he actually had more voice training time than most of the competition and much more scientific and exacting training than most people get. He follows the old classical rules and avoids harmful food and drink. He swims, especially underwater, to improve his breath control.
His parents have taught him how to be a good human being and a gracious professional singer. None of those 20-something year old immature fiascos that happen so often in the U.S. music industry. For example, the "World's Best" competition was editing songs harshly, rushing work and making him sing while sick. No trantrum. But when they tried to make him compete against the kids he was mentoring, he graciously but firmly resigned from the competition he was clearly winning. Since then, he has been very selective of the organizers that sings under to avoid any future unpleasantness. We want beautiful songs, not industry drama.
So we end up with an amazing singer who is polite, hard working, gives credit to all his co-workers and support staff and commits himself to constant improvement. Since that 2017 public debut, he has improved his lower range a lot, improved his upper range some, improved his French and English pronunciation, finished a few music degrees and made excellent musical alliances. He is also writing much more of his own music. As a singer, he is like that crazy BMX stunt biker who can stand with one toe on the seat, touch one handlebar and make the bike spin and flip around him. DImash knows the balance and pressure of all his registers and voice textures through talent and massive practice.
We do not deserve it, but we will not hesitate to enjoy it. And clearly, the fans will support him fully. You don't waste miracles.
Still just the tip of the iceberg. You have not seen his lowest nor his highest. He sings in many languages including English now. One of his latest El Amor En Ti is in Spanish and he does alto, tenor, soprano and pop. You will see performances that will make you hold your breath, cry, laugh and in the end you just get addicted to hearing Dimash. He should come with a warning label because he will make you frown on other music. Add to it that he is a very humble, sweet and respectful person. His MV, The Story of One Sky is his feeling on war and it is intense, often hard to watch but says so much. He wrote the song, the script, sang ALL the parts and acted as one of the main characters. You may need to make his videos a little transparent to keep from being blocked. While that is certainly a pain, he is well worth it. Found him in 2017. Went to his New York concert in 2019 and can not go a day without hearing his music.

Some info about Dimash. He is born in May 24 1994. He is from Kazakhstan and has been music schooled sense 5 years old and told the teacher that the piano was out of tune! He sings about 7 octaves or so! No one knows he is still learning. He sings higher than the piano can go! He also writs and compose own songs, plays bunch of instruments including Dombra there own Kazakh instrument that has a sound you can’t believe and onley 2 strings! He also sings in about 14 (Kazakh, Turkish, Usceck, Russian, Ukranian, Serbien, Bulgarian Chinese , Italien, Spamish, French, English, German, Japanese ) languages and speaks 3 so far (Kazakh, Russian and English).
Dimash has an excellent education: he graduated from the College of Music with a degree in Opera Singing, university of arts in the specialty "Estrada and jazz vocals", and on June 18, 2020, he completed a master's degree in Composition. He graduated with a degree in opera from the music school at the University of Aktobe (2014), a degree in pop/jazz from the National Arts University in Nur Sultan (2018), just completed his Master's degree in composition (June 2020) and have started his PhD.
He have done some contests in his life but the one I think got the worlds intension is "The Singer" (Allso called "I am a singer" or "Singer") from China in 2017. The Singer is a program for established Chinese singers to face off against each other invites only in a competition where votes were cast by an audience of 500.
Dimash Qudaibergen was a last-minute inclusion (a 'dark horse'). But his performance of 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' electrified the audience, his fellow competitors and the viewers who numbered in the billions (this program was one of the most-watched in China and outside).
They also got him the nickname "Imported little brother" the day after the show. They also had to get bodyguard for Dimash do to the famous over night both in China and also the world. Dimash wasn’t really prepared for that. He had come to China at 22 years young man by him self and didn’t know the language. They hade contracted him for 2 shows because they didn’t think he cold go further than that. He didn’t think they would like him. So he was nervous this performers that he had also to start the show with. But they hade to change that do to his famous over night.

Gloria Wu's channel has the back-story about the song that is so sad and from a life story about a boy losing his parents in an awful way. If I remember correct he wrote the music to this one when he was 19 years old and lyrics by Oral-kosai Baisengir, who was a poet/lyricist father of a friend of Dimash. Also in this show another contestant "Terry Lin" that was about 51 years young here he considered Dimash a dear friend at this point. But Dimash started telling them al he was his father around episode 9 I think!! That is a big respect and love from his part of the world to call him! Terry was gladly accepting it. They are still that close and also invites each other to there concerts and sometimes singing this song in duet to. This song is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight in 2017 (The Singer).
The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' (1978) and is known in the English-speaking world as Tycoon (1995). Music: Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon (French original text). The English adaptation is by Tim Rice.
That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
The competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day bodyguards were at his door and now he is a superstar but without airs... just our Dimash.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to RUclips ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. Won).

For this performance he was voted 1st, but overall he placed 2nd. Its a 3 month long competition show. They get ranked week to week, as long as your not last you get to stay. This took place in China, and he's not Chinese or speak the language.

He trained since he was 5, then between 16 and 20 studied and trained in Classical, then 20-24 in Contemporary (Jazz, Pop). Still does vocal training regularly (28 yo now), ~3 hours/day, with vocal coaches. He has degrees in both Classical (Bel Canto) and Contemporary. His Bel Canto teacher called him a tenor, and Dimash calls himself a "regular tenor who uses high register in the most important/emotional part of the songs". But he had a nice low register since young, and a high register which he trained in classical style mostly by himself during university days. I think he was keen on using any bit of range he could access for artistic expression, and it paid off beautifully. He can master pretty much every register, from baritone to soprano, in different styles. He can also access bass register and a bit of subharmonics, and the whistle register - in the 7th octave ; he can handle 6th octave in head voice +/- flageolet.
That being said, he doesn`t always use a big vocal range in his songs, some are in a single register, but just as beautiful and fascinating, due to the vocal techniques used, and the emotion he is able to convey.

His parents are singers, and he was trained professionally since 5 years old or so, and he was trained to retain his high notes with special vocal techniques during his puberty years. So both naturally gifted and super hard work and training with his vocal instrument.
Hi! Before this Chinese TV show, he won important international singing competitions. Then at the age of 22, he was invited to this TV show for professional Chinese well-established singers. He was the first foreigner on this show ever and the youngest. People say he didn't win because he was a foreigner (he took the second place).
At The World Best he quit because, in the finals, there were him and 2 children and in his culture you don't compete with children, they think it's unfair and that you can't destroy children's dreams. He could earn a million dollars but he quit. This is how Dimash is. 🥰🥰🥰

The show had a policy against awarding prize money to a foreigner, so Dimash came in second. However, this song, his first on the show, brought him immediate fame and a bodyguard was waiting at his door the next morning. He regularly performs in China, and "The Singer" program brought him back several times to guest star. I suspect he was the reason they changed their policy the next year, so Brit Jessie J won.

I still think this is the best place to start a Dimash journey, rather than the most recent performances, so you can work your way to where he is now. Born with a gift to singing parents in Kazakhstan (His mother was an opera singer), he has been studying music since age 5. He doesn't speak French, but this song became his calling card in competitions because it was one of the few songs to give an example of his vocal range. It is usually said that he only came in second because he wasn't Chinese. Also, this was a competition of established singers, and the person who won was a Chinese fan favourite. The next year they changed the rules, invited more foreign singers, and Jessie J from England won. There are some other good Dimash performances on this show, but some people skip ahead to "Sinful Passion" from 2018, where he shows some other vocal skills.
It is like the gateway song to true Dimash addiction, lol. I agree that it's a great introductory song in that it gives a clear flavour of his ability without perhaps being overwhelming like some of his other songs.

Dimash is 28 and has been studying music since he was 5 years old. He has absolute pitch and apparently told his family that their piano was out of tune when he was about that age too! Another cute story is that when he was 2 he used to take all the music cassettes he could find in the house to bed with him! And when other kids were drawing cars, he drew himself on a big stage with amplifiers and microphone and other musical equipment! He says he has always known that music is what he wanted to do. Both his parents are singers so this worked out well. If you want to hear his name pronounced, watch "Love is Like a Dream". And it's a beautiful song too though very different from this one. And as to how he can do what he does, well... his last name means "given by God". (But yes, he has worked very very very hard training his talent.)

Me lleva a pensar en la voz de Dimash y el elemento terapéutico que supuestamente tiene en muchas personas. A menudo he comentado sobre la capacidad de Dimash para transmitir emociones profundas a través de su voz (incluso cuando existen barreras del idioma, Dimash parece capaz de transmitir el sentimiento vocalmente). To try and answer a few of your questions.
1. He has abnormally long vocal cords for a man.
2. He's been musically trained since the age of 5 and has been around music and singers since he was born, his mother is an operatic soprano.
3. He's the hardest working musician out there, he never stops practicing, learning and seeking out new techniques and sounds.
4. He lives and breathes music, if you watch him listening to music, he is completely gone into another world. No matter where he is or who he is with he's totally engrossed in the music. In fact the only time I've seen him ask someone to wait for an autograph is when he was listening to a young boy playing the piano.

Such undiluted beauty, unsurpassed perfection. It's tough believing this is just a man and not an angel. Having said that, I reckon even angels would struggle to sing like this. I thought very highly of Steve Tyler, for his range, but he don't even come close to Dimash.. I'd love to get Floor Jensen's take on him !!

The best version of this ( vocally)in my opinion is called "SOS SLAVIC BAZAAR ". The best visual performance is "SOS 2021". You might want to enjoy them as well. Peace and love from Pennsylvania.
While correct, the emotion that goes into this performance is a lot heavier, due to both the competition circumstances and the fact that the Slavic Bazaar version was heavily autotuned against Dimash's will.
The french singer who sung It when the musical Starmania came out, Daniel Balavoine, had the same capacity of singing from an extreme octave to another.
Yes, there are many performances of this song, but for me this is still the best even after several years - he was an unknown, put on first because not much was expected of him (the audience were encouraged to applaud loudly to give him confidence) and then he did this...

He came second - it was a bit contraversial because the winner was Chinese and there were allegations of it being a "political" win - but the lady that did win was also outstanding, so... Didn't make any difference in the long run 👍😎

Dimash won this episode, and the next one too, and came in second in the whole competition. Most of the people they showed were competitors, all of them seasoned popular singers in China, and you can see their faces.
You should watch the next episode, too, where he sang Opera 2, which was already popular in China from performances by Russian singer Vitas, but Dimash took it to the next level. His stage presence, which was a bit hampered in this performance by his visible nervousness, is unreal. Try find a version with English subtitles.

Dimash was only 22 years old when he opened and won the very first episode of the I Am Singer Chinese show in 2017 with this performance of SOS - a showcase competition for well known, established, professional Chinese singers, with a voting audience of 500 people from the music industry. Dimash was the youngest and the first foreigner ever to be invited on the show (as a wildcard) and, as a total unknown in China, he wasn’t expected to last more than half the show. He astonished everyone, came second in the competition, an overnight sensation in China (600 million views of this performance) and a global phenomenon. He will turn 29 in May.
Dimash is university trained in classical (bel canto) and contemporary music and has been training (voice and piano) since he was 5 years old. He has degrees in voice (classical), contemporary music, completed a Masters in composition and is currently completing a PhD in musicology. He was offered a position with Astana Opera but declined to follow a career in contemporary music, mixing classical elements and traditional Kazakh music with pop music.He continues to train every day - either with a voice teacher or self trains. The French part of this was just in the vocals; the song was written for a French rock opera. The audience is mostly Chinese and the subtitles are in Chinese. I don't think there is any further French in the song past the closing. Dimash does, though, thank the conductor in English.
He won that episode. Overall he came second. He had a few... Interesting... Performances that didn't quite land. Like Uptown Funk. He wasn't quite there yet with that kind of pop. He was very cute, though 😂

Dimash can say words in 16 languages but cannot speak more than three of them well enough to be called multilingual. Nevertheless, it takes a certain talent to belly up to the bar and sing in a language you don't speak. Dmimash often uses a teleprompter with foreign lyrics put into phonetic style so he can make reference to it as needed.

Who's going to out sing him? You're right. NO-ONE! And several hundred million Chinese viewers agree with you! But did he win he 2017 series of the Chinese 'Singer' competition? ( Which is invitation only to established artists and the audience are all industry professionals. } That's a dangerous question! NO! And it caused an outrage.
Millions of Chinese 'twitterati' went ballistic when the result was announced. The Shows producers then sheepishly came out with a statement - that only poured petrol on the flames of indignation! They said; { wait for it...!!! } they'd only invited him on as a courtesy nod to their neighbour; Kazakhstan, and 'hadn't expected him to get anywhere near the final' Clearly they hadn't done their homework because Dimash had already roared through just about every Eastern European song competition, winning every one. They then followed up with saying the Winner had to be a Chinese citizen in order to represent China in other International Song Competitions. They were quite surprised when all Dimash's Instant Fans got madder still! Fairly rapidly the Chinese and Kazakhstan Governments came out with a 'consolation prize' and announced a new Title. Dimash was now formally designated the "Kazakh / China Cultural Ambassador".
This did not douse all the flames, and you can still find indignant Chinese fans, but many then took matters into their own hands. How?

No, he did not win the overall competition. This was a Chinese competition show and he was brought in as a wildcard. Politics wouldn’t let a non-Chinese singer win a completion in China. Funny, how we don’t hear much about or see 20 million hits on RUclips for whomever beat Dimash on this show.

Dimash won second place because the concept of a dark horse, or guest competitor winning first place is unfathomable. Could have potentially offends competitor and audiences. This Kazakhstan unknown win over local China Hongkong favourites.

Your pronunciation is pretty good. (Close enough to be passable). Just not so slow in the middle (dai could be shorter).
(2017 &2018 are the best versions - er - most favorite versions. 2018 has better sound quality and he looks like the master he is). (2017 has the charm). There are earlier versions (like 2012) that few have heard & are a bit different). fyi.
He came in 2nd overall (1st for the day), BUT this show has a rule (or policy, etc) that no foreigner can win the overall competition. (show is in China). fyi.
Those guys in the room are among his competitors.
Noteworthy: He and many others can sing much higher through whistle notes, but that is something different. Full voice does have soft limits as he shows here getting into the whistle range on some of his top notes. He has trained since he was about 5 though the man is very gifted.
