While i can appreciate the whole concept i do have a few suggestions ..........I have built these for years and as always the first thing on my mind is safety and stability .A straight ladder has some benefits but as a whole i built mine with a wider stance starting from the bottom and then to a normal platform width and depth , it uses a bit more material but all in all it's very stable , i even lag bolt mine to the tree , more for theft then anything but it does secure it completely sold to any tree .I screw everything , i avoid pressure treated wood as here the porcupine and bears love the stuff and will destroy a stand in short order . My bottom stance is usually 40 inch's and depending on height it can be 48 inch's wide on the bottom

Those spindley little gun nails won't hold, man, those don't have but about 1/3rd of the sheer strength of a common 16d hand spike, and they have far less holding power in the wood as well. Pre drill and put a 4'' epoxy coated timber lock lag in each connection and pre drill so you don't split anything out. And i really don't recommend even doing that. I recommend spending a hundred bucks and buying a steal or aluminum tree stand.

There are several ways of attaching these together. Screws, bolts but for me nails are quick and have been plenty strong. I have some of these that are years old and still going strong. No doubt metal ladder is superior long term but if someone wants a fun quick project to build a simple practical stand this will work all day long. And if you were to lose the right to hunt where you put this stand and have to leave it you are out 40$ buck. When you are hunting and accentually tap you gun barrel on a metal stand the whole woods knows but on a wooden stand you barley hear it. Wood is much quieter than metal. All stands over time need maintenance (even metal) and should be inspected annually.

@@randomreviews7574 I love it, I have six running down my fence line. I went the extra mile and added glue. Built them from the first video, still going strong.
