I just finished a Hammond Ao44 conversion called the “Spartacus” by one,Forrest Cook. It uses a 6u10 triple triode and 2 el84’s to replace the Ecl86 pentode/ triodes it had originally. This conversion goes easy on the el84’s. Barely hits 300v on the first node. It says 12watts on the schematic but mine comes in at about 10. The 12” Alnico I’ve been using starts distorting before the actual amp does! But conveniently,it’s adjustable NFB helps that. Very slick design! Baxandall tone stack. It’s by far the best out of the four different Ao 44 conversions I’ve tried. Mr. Cook knows what he’s doing! I try to pay attention to those who do!

I have a Mesa Lonestar Classic with the same speaker in it. I couldn't imagine a better speaker for that amp. Watching Shawn Lane videos brought me to your channel. Your amps are absolutely killer.

In another video you said to use a variac to keep your amp safe. I was wondering what your thought's on buskers is. People who play out on the street and use batterey power for there amps. I was thinking about making a portable battery station from 2 marine batteries and a dc to ac converter. That way when you go to a gig or what ever you dont have to worry about plugging into a bars outlet with the rest of the band and end up getting a hum. My question is would that kind of portable power station keep my amp safe like a variac would? And could you power something like a super reverb with a power station like that?

Is the 10n cathode or fixed bias? Negative feedback connected or disconnected? Amazing sounding amps by the way.

@@thesaj1110 Mesa C-90 (original formula Celestion Classic Lead 80's) or if you're into V30's get Pre-1992 production UK V30's or Mesa T-4335/T-4416. Mesa had Celestion preserve the original design spec, this is why their speakers sound more musical than standard V30's.

Geez, the C90 is heavy enough in my combo, can’t imagine lugging an EV in there…
