      "How do you mismanage talent like that smh" It's always somebody's else fault. Dude was on his fourth team by time he was 35. But here's some quotes what happened with T.O during the Eagles 2005 season. The year got kicked off the team seven games into the season when the Eagles were only 4-3 and were just blown out by the Broncos.
      ----
      "The Philadelphia Eagles released the exiled Owens on Tuesday, ending a tumultuous, two-year relationship with the wide receiver. Owens was due a $5 million roster bonus on Wednesday, so the
      Eagles had to cut him or trade him before then to avoid paying him
      the money.
      The move was a formality because Owens was kicked off the team
      in November following a series of incidents and infractions,
      including repeated criticism of quarterback Donovan McNabb.
      The Eagles announced the cut in a one-sentence statement....
      *Owens took his first verbal shot at McNabb last April,
      suggesting the five-time Pro Bowl quarterback was tired in the
      fourth quarter against the Patriots.
      McNabb responded harshly and the two didn't speak for a
      prolonged period in training camp. They briefly reconciled their
      relationship and performed well together on the field -- Owens had
      47 catches for 763 yards and six TDs in seven games last year.
      Owens was sent home for one week from training camp last August
      after a heated dispute with coach Andy Reid that followed a
      shouting match with then-offensive coordinator Brad Childress.
      Owens also annoyed the Eagles by breaking the dress code on road
      trips, parking in coaches' spots at the team's practice facility
      and sleeping through one team meeting, not bringing his playbook to
      another and refusing to open the playbook at another meeting.
      In early November, the team had enough of Owens' antics after he
      again criticized McNabb, called the organization "classless'' and
      fought with former teammate Hugh Douglas." Team
      officials said they would not comment.
      He criticized management, feuded with McNabb, violated team
      policies and eventually was banished seven games into last season.
      An arbitrator upheld the Eagles' decision to suspend Owens without
      pay for four games and deactivate him the final five games."*
      ----

Eagles damn sure weren't doing it in 2005, nobody was. If he wanted a new contract after a year then he and his agent should have went for the contract he wanted back in 2004.

They were in field goal range when he threw the first pick. He could have threw it out of the end zone, to save the 3 points. The second one was also a poor decision. • @gluserty
      @gluserty 3 года назад

      @Donald Williams To be fair, McNabb got off to a horrendous start to 2003 (his 6th game was the worst: 9-23 passing, and that was with completing his first 5 passes!), but rallied to post respectable numbers for that season, while not having a QB rating that low again until 2010 (when he was basically washed up).

    • @gluserty
      @gluserty 3 года назад +1

      @Donald Williams I believe interceptions were looked upon a little differently back then, but Brett Favre's total of 21 is high for any era (Marc bulger's 22 is also too high). Peyton Manning sliced his total in half from the previous year (often overlooked, but I felt Manning struggled in 2002, along with his 19 interceptions. Marvin Harrison's 143-catch season kind of let him off the hook a bit) and had a low INT percentage, but surprisingly that season he would have games in which he had no TD passes; kind of odd for a co-MVP (I think that award should've solely been McNair's; other than Derrick Mason, who really was very good, he made the players on his offense look better than they were).
      I mean, someone like Aaron Rogers having seasons in which he throws only 2-5 picks is typical for him, but he's always managed to mix in being highly productive along with being efficient. I bet if Rogers played in the NFL back in '03 his stats would be the same.

    • @gluserty
      @gluserty 3 года назад

      @Donald Williams That whole thing with Wentz became funky & unhealthy; I say ride on with Wentz, he's done enough to prove himself. Still, he needs to cut out the 2 INT games.
      You're right, the Eagles have been inconsistent with the receiving support, with the exception of Zach Ertz (I believe his ankle injury last season was a big reason for Wentz's troubles; I always say a tight end is a QB's best friend). That offensive line also needs a re-tooling, and the organization needs to open the lines of communication to better suit the personnel both staying and soon to arrive. Wow, things went dark in 2020 after a pretty nice run (especially 2017) for them the last few years.

      He blamed everyone but himself. The guy is a hall of famer and he still throws shots at former players and coaches all the time.

He gave McNabb things to work on before coming into training camp. Shanahan said, not only did he not work on improving, he had digressed. It wasn't the Eagles that duped us, it was McNabb. I’ve lived in Philly and have been a diehard Eagles fan since I learned what football was. Donovan McNabb was a really good quarterback (outside of the NFC championship game and Super Bowl) and the vast majority of Eagles fans truly appreciate everything he did for our favorite team. That said, we don’t really fw McNabb off the field. We don’t like him much. He was always passive aggressive and would never accept blame for failure without throwing shade on other people. He would also use his and the Eagles success as a platform to complain about the fans. He complained about a few dozen drunk morons booing him at the draft for his ENTIRE TENURE in Philadelphia. He was also extremely envious of any other player who Eagles fans loved. ESPECIALLY if they were on offense. Every Eagles fan absolutely loved Terrell Owens. LOVED him. He was the best receiver we’d ever had and was obviously the missing piece to finally get the Eagles past the NFC championship game after losing there in 3 straight seasons. He was all about telling the other teams he can’t be stopped and that they sucked. He was one of those semi-rare players who was just perfect for the insanity of playing a professional sport in Philadelphia. McNabb was jealous of the love and adoration that T.O. was getting literally from the first play of the first preseason game. Love and adoration that McNabb never got despite being the quarterback who lead the Eagles to 4 straight division titles, 5 straight playoff appearances, and 4 straight NFC championship game appearances. He thought that attention should’ve been on him. That he was the most important player on the team. Honestly, he WAS the most important player. He WAS the quarterback who lead the Eagles on their most successful run they’ve ever had. But like I said, we didn’t like him very much. For the reasons I stated and because, well, we just didn’t like him. He never got us and we never fully embraced him. It was a business relationship. One that failed to achieve the ultimate goal. T.O. was someone we would’ve gone to war with and made sure he stayed in our area for the rest of his life like so many other former Philadelphia athletes. He absolutely DID understand us and we absolutely embraced him 100 percent and from day one. Most of us are STILL angry they refused to pay him what he was worth and ruined his time as an Eagle. In 22 games as an Eagle he racked up 2,085 receiving yards and 20 touchdown catches. The Eagles won 17 of those 22 games. Terrell Owens could’ve been one of the best Eagles ever. A lot of people here will always think it’s McNabb’s fault he wasn’t.

    Andy Reid gets rid of T.O. because he was a "distraction".
    Also, Andy Reid: keeps a wife and child abusing Tyreek Hill; employs a son who has a long history of alcohol abuse which took almost killing people to be 'let go' from the team

    You know the worst part about this is that all T.O. is saying is that he wanted to be appreciated for all the hard work he had put in. He knew he talked a big game, but he also knew that he did it because he felt like he had to have that spark in himself to do so. Never count out the best leader with a great team surrounding him.

    Didn’t do a damn thing after he was cut by the Eagles. He was 0-2 in his 2 playoff appearances with 6 catches. McNabb led the Eagles to one more NFC Championship game - wish these two could have worked it out.
