  • This is a tabletop review of the GLOCK 36 SUBCOMPACT .45 ACP. In this video we will discuss the history and development of the firearm, and provide side by side comparison with other popular models to establish scale and help visualize what it would be like carry this based on familiar platforms. We will outline all of the features, and how these features may or may not be important to you based on your personal needs. Range performance will also be discussed along with different tested methods of carry and how comfortable it is to carry on a regular basis. Last, we will provide an overall opinion of how this firearm stacks up for concealed carry purposes. Thanks for watching!

This has been by off duty/ concealed carry gun for the past five years. I used to roll with the GLOCK 27 when I my duty gun was the GLOCK 22 but when I started carrying my GLOCK 21 on duty I switched to try GLOCK 36 and absolutely love it. 👊🏾

Thanks for protecting us. Wouldn’t you rather have something flatter shooting with more rounds, in case you have to deal with shopping mall distances? I’ve always though of 45 as a home defense solution where distances are short, stopping power is important, and the victim could be judged harshly later for hollow points / multiple rounds.

Sold my old 36 a long time ago, and bought a 30. Was my first CCW gun, both are extremely accurate, the 36 being a little snappier, yet easier to conceal. My 30 is a non SF frame and is a chunky bastard.
Kinda wish I still had it.
Glock .45s are just do much damn fun to shoot, legendary.

I'm sorry but No Gun will ever replace the Classic Colt 1911 and this platform will be here long after we are gone! As far as a good .45 ACP, IMO Glock has hit a Home Run with this Single Stack Model. I had one for many years and I thought it was a great shooting Gun but I decided to stick with the Glock 9mm Platform and I carried a G19 as my duty weapon for over 10 years, up to my Retirement! I finally sold my G36 because I just no longer needed the .45 to fit my needs as a self defense weapon or a carry gun. I also decided to sell all my double stack hand guns and I now have the G43 as my EDC and I also sometime carry my G48! but for those of you who want a Great .45, You can't go wrong with the G36!

      1) Never is a long time. 2) 1911s have already been replaced en masse among professional and civilian firearms users. Their share of these markets will never be the same. Carry one if you want, but it's factually incorrect that the 1911 will never be replaced when it's largely already happened. Sorry

@@atlas42185 when you have a 113 year old steel and wood framed weapon still competing with modern day polymere weapons, that hardly screams replaced....example the p-38 has been replaced, people arent digging out their 9mm p38s and comparing them to glocks, sigs,or m&ps... people arent breaking out there brownings or czs for compairisons neither.......but some how mr 1911 always seems comes to the forefront . Especially with higher end brands like kimber, rock island and the likes....
From my research( a quick google 😂😂) it says the seals use a socom tac-45 , the green berets and delta use the 1911....theres are reason 1911s just continue to hang around, while lugers,p38s,and brownings slipped into collector status

I put the Trijicon HD XR’s sights on mine, wow what a difference. It’s just a little thick, so it stays in a Sticky in the truck and can be carried if needed. I have always been a 1911 guy I love everything about them the way they look and shoot to hold a quality 1911 in your hand like your Kimber is like no other hand gun. But over the past 15 years Glock has really grown on me with it's reliability and double stack capacity magazine is some real fire power and they come in all the popular calibers like 9mm I really like the 9mm and with the 1911 it just doesn't seem right to have one chambered in 9mm but I like the round so much I have a few 1911 9mm I just don't tell a lot of people LoL.
When I leave out the house I always grab one of my trusty Glocks. The 1911 will always be my favorite hand gun but it seems like I collect them more than I shoot them now a days.

"muh double stack" -- guess you haven't heard of Para-Ordnance. They've been making double stack 1911s since 1993. And for similar sizes, the Paras actually hold MORE rounds of .45 ACP than the Glocks. The model 30 tops out at 11 rounds, LOL. The highest capacity Glock 45s top out at 14 rounds. I mean if you want 9mm you can convert to that and use double stack .38super mags that hold 20 rounds. Last time I checked 20 > 17. As for reliability, LOL. My G36 likes all round ogive JHPs I have tried in it but does not feed the Cor-Bon 200 Grain +P truncated cone JHP reliably. So I don't use truncated cone JHPs. If you have any doubts stick with hardball the .45 punches a big hole. If you are going to play you bet your life check everything or the duck may not come down.

I have a Colt MK IV Lightweight Officers 45 ACP 3.5" on my list for CCW. (Which is no longer in production). It is definitely heavier than a Glock 36. The Colt is more ergonomic and slightly thinner. It can hold a 7-round magazine or even an 8-round magazine with an adaptor. For CCW I do like its external and grip safeties, plus It just fits my hand so well especially compared to my Glock 21SF. All that being said, I think the reliability of the Glock 36 and its lighter weight just might make me switch. Thanks for the info.

I started on 9mm after my friends who got me into guns convinced me that it is “the best” for CCW/SD. I didn’t know better. Went through 4 different 9mm handguns before stumbling upon .40 S&W. Did some reading up on the caliber, how it’s superior and stronger than the 9mm. Got a Glock 27 and haven’t looked back. I am thoroughly convinced that THIS is the best. Thanks, Glock.

Probably the biggest glaring issue with the 36 is the capacity besides that tho I’ve owned one for almost a year I shoot it better than my 1911 for some reason it’s the only 45 I regularly shoot and can feel confident with you can however get a Glock 30sf lower and use the 36 slide assembly to get 10 rounds of 45 instead of the 6 or 7 rounds in the stock 36 magazines

I want a glock that is modeled as close to the dimensions of a 1911 as possible. 7/8 round single stack .45acp. Beaver tail grip. Silver slide with light silver polymer frame and wood colored talon grip tape. It could be a glock 55 (cuz its like a .45 but better). You could even buy a striker back plate with a little cosmetic plastic hammer to complete the stainless steel 1911 aesthetic.

That's a great question. I can't really do an exact comparison for the simple fact that the Glock 36 is a single stack, making it a slimmer and lighter. The XDM has the weight and grip to make shots a little easier. Overall, I would say the XDM is a better shooter, but the Glock is a far better carry gun. Thanks for watching!

I currently have a commander and I am looking for something lighter and smaller. Considering the 36 and also the M&P and the XDs. Never owned a striker fired pistol before. I love the feel and trigger of the Commander though. Anyway, the reason I want the change is carrying. I live AZ now and in the heat a heavy pistol becomes a pain. I like the HSTs. The old 185 +p golden sabers were good too.

The thing I never liked about 1911s is the take down process. Glocks, you can take down in seconds. When you also consider the difference in weight and size, I think you make a pretty good argument had these been available 70 years ago. The 1911 still has a longer barrel which helps with accuracy

The 30s is a 30 with a 36 slide. People were putting 36 slides on the 30 and glock caught on. I've wanted a 30s for a while but haven't gotten to getting one. My 36 is from 2000
First year. Got it used dirty cheap. Replaced with springs for maybe 35. Winner
