Have to be aware of the fitness of the people enjoying the beach before fast food places made so many obese. The ladies in the orchestra so elegant, so talented and feminine without the need to tattoo their bodies or shave half their head to attract attention. So lucky to have been in the prime of my life during this time period and able to enjoy its place in time. PS and stiill after all these years enjoy this beautiful music. Thank you
Once I loved And I gave so much love to this love You were the world to me Once I cried at the thought I was foolish and proud And let you say goodbye Then one day From my infinite sadness you came And brought me love again Now I know, that no matter, whatever befalls I'll never let you go I will hold you close Make you stay Because love is the saddest thing When it goes away I will hold you close Make you stay Because love is the saddest thing When it goes away Because love is the saddest thing When it goes away Goes away This beautiful composition of Gilbert,Vinicius De Moraes and the great Tom Jobim was a success in the 60's sung by Astrud Gilberto and Frank Sinatra. Great Performance of Dan Fontaine and his tallented Orchestra.
‘Because love is the saddest thing When it goes away’ ... a refined and elegant performance, beautiful song from the pen of Tom Jobim. Very much appreciated here in London.
Como me gustaría tener menos edad para tener más años para escuchar tan bella música - desde niño he amado a las orquestas como esta de Dan Fontaine. Muchas gracias por compartirla. Dr. JLVV
yes it makes me oh so nostalgic for the Rio that was....i experienced this and it was very good to me....i felt the most beautiful and varied women i ever saw in one place..and listening to a Japanese girl speak their Portugues..well it was a very entertaining and engaging place. They have had a succession of governments that really have not helped the experience....stay in Ipanema...i so enjoyed meeting 'la garota d' Impanema's daughter...the mother lives in San Paolo...at the jazz club where Bossa really boomed on Vinicius do Moraes blvd.....the cities waste treatment plant is just north of these beaches..so the gals joked that the water was cocido do meirda...and it is....weirdest slums on earth: extenting in strips up the mountain......Oh the music: this is superbly done...Mr Fontaine has such a beautiful and talented orchestra...its almost of a different time but its a rare joy to hear such a group and dance to it as it was meant....we have gotten so far from enjoying our best havent we?
I love your playing and I would love to learn your arrangements of this song as well as Amelia and others not yet for sale on your website. Do you plan on making this and other arrangements for sale in the future?
May I also, respectfully, highly recommend Zingaro (Black & White), again by Jobim, an exceptional string instrumental that to my mind is near perfection and in memory of its quite remarkable orchestral arranger Claus Ogerman. ruclips.net/video/rDZWj48EkiE/видео.html
@@DanFontaine Hi Dan, Great and thanks for keeping our favourite musical genre fresh and vital. May I also recommend Cy Coleman, of whom I’m sure you’re already familiar, in this playful Pink Panther-esque arrangement. I believe it is ‘right up your street’. Please let me know what you think of both this and Jobim’s Zingaro, once your had an opportunity to audition them. ruclips.net/video/3hKOP2r8PkU/видео.html Cheers, Jerry ( London, UK)
It's really interesting. His classical training shines through here. It has hints of Schoenberg or Stravinsky I can't put my finger on it. Ogerman's arrangements are iconic. I've always wanted to know how he recorded his strings. It's impossible to imitate

Tom Jobim....a true Master of his craft....thank you Tom....you will live forever in our hearts.
Those were THE VERY BEAUTIFULLY HAPPY DAYS. AND WE LIVED IN THEM YOUNG AND STRONG.
POOR YOUTH TODAY!
THEY'LL NEVER LIVE THAT AS WE DID.
No they won't. You're right. Wasn't it perfection itself? I read your words with utter and complete understanding. Thank you.

Thank you for the empathy and positive reciprocity, not common at all in these days❤

Your orchestrations always bring out the cocktail shaker in me.
Once I loved
And I gave so much love to this love
You were the world to me
Once I cried at the thought
I was foolish and proud
And let you say goodbye
Then one day
From my infinite sadness you came
And brought me love again
Now I know, that no matter, whatever befalls
I'll never let you go
I will hold you close
Make you stay
Because love is the saddest thing
When it goes away
I will hold you close
Make you stay
Because love is the saddest thing
When it goes away
Because love is the saddest thing
When it goes away
Goes away

The song really is a masterpiece. With bossa you get that deep heart wrenching melancholy while simultaneously feeling like you're at a beach party
@@DanFontaine I agree Mr Fontaine. Regards!

The man is the master of beautiful music. He knows how to find the best of the best. Of course anything by Antonio Carlos Jobim is a shoe-in.
