Thank you for this video. Awesome editing and to the point. Mostly I appreciate you not editing out your mistakes and lessons learned, I feel like I learned with you haha. I'm doing this job this weekend and feel much more confident after this than the other video I watched
Happy to help mate ,clean your chain regularly and you will do thousands of miles .Remember the splint link clip go,s on the chain the way you have it .My father said to me like a fish swinging .
Hi mate well done on your chain and sprocket change .I have been riding bikes for 39 years ,and never had a problem with a split link chains, I like them . Its easy To take the chains of and clean it ,try paraffin for cleaning your chain I don't know what you Australian call it . the best I have found and its cheep mate hope this will help .
You can always lay out both chains (old and new) next to each other to get the proper measurement of links. Also, you don't have to use a Master Link if you know how to reconnect a new broken chain.
Dude, PBR Sprockets make a 15T front one for the CB, if you do a lot of Highway... I'm going to try it, when I have to replace mines. What I also observed is that with the 15T front one, the speedo error is way less than stock.
@@onecolektiv There's a video here, where a guy shows it. Let me try to find it... Lovely video mate.. i have a request. Can u also do a video on chain maintenance. My bike’s chain makes a chattering sound at low speeds over sharp bumps. I have tried loosening tighten etc but its not helping at all
Unfortunately, I don't have that bike anymore. But, if you still have the standard chain and sprockets, that noise is normal on these bikes. The only way to fix it is to replace them with after-market ones.
New bike only got a couple hundred km on it. I'm looking to solve that noise, but not wanting to do the whole set of I don't have to. Do you know if just the rear sprocket is the Problem or both?
Just curious, why did you change the sprockets along with the chain if the chain was the only main issue? Were the stock sprockets worn down enough to change them?
The rear sprocket is the reason for the noise, so that's why I changed that. The reason I changed the whole lot is, the chain and sprockets wear together. So if you just change 1 thing, the wear grooves are uneven, which can lead to the chain or the sprockets wearing prematurely. Hope that makes sense.
@@onecolektiv ok that makes sense. Also, do you plan to get some crash protection for your CB300r? If so, can you do an install video? I usually get frame sliders but for this bike I might go with some "crash bars" from SW Motech. I need the whole bike protected in case of a spill and I feel like crash bars will be superior to frame sliders.
Yeah I'm definitely going to be doing crash protection but I'm going to be doing something completely over the top with it. I've just got a few more things I need to do first before I do that.
Yeaa meant to scratch that question as I wrote it you mentioned it in the video lol. So I ended up going with the 520vx3 kit with 14t/36t sprockets. Do you think these are good and will minimize the chain rattle?
Hey hi ! Wich one do you chose for cb300r ? I’m searching one right now but i don’t know wich one. The only reference given by Honda is DID 520 VF but i don’t find him. And i would like keep the same sprocket.
If you change the chain you should change the sprockets at the same time. I got a DID 520VX3 chain. You should be able to find them in basically any motorcycle parts store.
pain in the ass to get the right rear sprocket... im still waiting for the right sprocket and in the meanwhile the bolt thread of the rear axle broken as well...
word of caution, if you have the cbr 300r and not the CB300R the bolts for the rear sprocket are different. It's a fucking allen bolt, impossible to remove.

Thank you so much. I'm glad I could help.
The rear spindle nut is nominally 24mm. Your 15/16" socket is 23.85mm, which is definitely close enough to work.
Thanks for the vídeo I just changed the rear sprocket and it's quite smooth

Yeah I clean and lube my chain once a week. Made a habit of it. 👍

Oh awesome, thanks for telling me. If you do it let me know how it goes. I have the speedo healer I can just calibrate it to fix the speedo.

I usually have my phone in a cradle for navigation. Speedo is reading 10% high on stock gearing. 15t would definitely help.
with 15t front, speedometer become only 2% off, at any given speed

how to torque was the rear sprocket?

Thank you!
I also overtorqued and broke off the front sprocket bolt on my cb125. You can't trust the lower torque range on those larger wrenches.
Did the master link come with the kit?
Yes it did.
Great video. What sprockets did you order. From where I want to get some myself
I can't remember what brand I got. I got them from AMX superstore.

hey mate. where are u at nsw. we have both cb300r hope u can teach me how to adjust a chain.
I live in Victoria unfortunately.
Hey bud, where did you purchase the sprocket?
All the info is in the video. I can't remember how many, so you'll have to watch the video. I got the sprockets and chain at amx superstore.

I'm not really sure what is good and what isn't when it comes to chains and sprockets. I just got what the guys at AMX recommended.
I have this bike and the chain noise drives me crazy. Will changing chain and sprocket fix this?
Yeah, the noise is from the rear sprocket. If you change out the chain and sprockets, it gets much quieter.
Do you have links for the sprockets?
I just bought them at a motorcycle parts shop.
@@onecolektiv do you know if the rear sprocket was 36 teeth?
@@Russtherider116 I don't remember. I'm sure I would have said what it was in the video.
