    8. SOUNDBITE: (English) Pervez Musharraf, President of Pakistan.
"The region is in turmoil and we only hope that peace, stability returns to Iraq. Pakistan's stand is that we must ensure the territorial integrity of Iraq because any lapse on this will unleash forces which would destabilise the whole region. Therefore the territorial integrity of Iraq is essential. And also, we feel governance in Iraq must be returned to the people of Iraq as soon as possible in the interest of Iraq and all the forces inside Iraq."

    STORYLINE:
Pakistan's president arrived in Los Angeles on Friday after talks earlier this week with President Bush and US politicians in Washington DC.
During an address to local business leaders, Pervez Musharraf repeated Pakistan's call for dialogue with India as a first step toward ending the dispute with India over the Kashmir region.
The countries have fought two wars over the territory.
Musharraf also commented on Pakistan's concern for ongoing unrest in central Asia and the Middle East.
On Iraq, Musharraf stressed the need to ensure Iraq's territorial integrity and called for the swift return of governance to the Iraqi people.
Musharraf's speech came at the end of a US visit where he obtained a pledge of 3 (b) billion US dollars in aid from US President George W. Bush.
Musharraf said on Thursday he is confident US politicians will support Bush's proposal for the military and economic aid.
Bush proposed the five-year assistance plan on Tuesday after a meeting with Musharraf at the US presidential retreat in Camp David, Maryland.
