Sadly, several people aren't taking this seriously on the official discord server. They seem convinced that it'll only negatively affect those who have mods in PSO2, and some even say that despite the odd memory leak they've had with xigncode3, they could just fix it with a complete PC reboot. I have to wonder how stable their system is though?.. Another user there even dismissed the potential as they hadn't heard of it causing problems in other games, and don't seem interested in doing the research themselves. At the very least, I use steam, so if it causes major problems, there should be time for Sega to roll it back before it's implemented for me. At least, I hope so. Fortunately, there are tutorials out there on how to remove xigncode3 after uninstalling a game, and it should work for a game that switched off of it. Still...
People are just lemmings and there isn't a whole lot you can do about it. But yeah this thing is bad news bears. Might be time to start looking long and hard for a pivot game.
@@Zeomantic Not helped by a seeming lack of other official creators not even touching the subject like you think they would... At least it seems that as more people talk about it, the more people are telling Sega it's not a good idea. I do have to wonder though... Could Sega be doing this so they can have an excuse when people inevitably jump ship to kill the game so they can work on the next Phantasy Star MMO? I know of a "leaked" document from about a year ago that talked of NGS being more interim for about a period of 5 years. If it's true, that would explain why things were the way they were at the start of NGS... With how they intended to update it, it would give the devs more time and resources to work on the fourth Phantasy Star MMO, while "tiding" us over. That didn't work out, and it must have disrupted their plans if that's the case. So rather than try to explain that they really want to stop developing NGS, they're doing something they have to know hurts peoples computers and could create all kinds of legal trouble just to get people to bail so they can have an excuse of "No one's playing it, so we're going to kill it." Trouble is, we will remember, this will hurt the next game. Perhaps we should make a ruckus during the headline? No telling them we'll unalive them of course, that's unacceptable, but we can still tell Sega how much we do not want it. Spam the chat box with cries of no wellbia or no xigncode3. Fill the comments with clearly written messages expressing our disappointment with this choice. Demolish that dislike button, as while we can't see how many are there, they can see how many dislikes the video gets. If they disable the chat and comments during the premier? Then everyone up and close the window that the video is being played in the second that happens. We could also try getting Sega's collab partners upset at Sega too. Let's make this the kind of attention they don't want, to not want to be associated with Sega. For if, like Kotobukia for example, a partner is associated with Sega, their own profits will suffer too as we'll inform everyone we know about their condoning Sega's use of xigncode3, what the software is and what it does, and not to buy anything from those who collab with Sega. It might be a long shot, but it's worth considering. If their collab partners feel the pressure, they'll give Sega pressure too for their own sakes.
@@daniv2vil Not as far as I know, looking through the files I still don't have xigncode3 anywhere. Though a lot of programs have a tendency to cause memory leaks if they're not properly optimized. What makes Xigncode3 worrying is that it goes into what is called the PC Kernal, which has little room as it is. Memory leaks in the kernal create instability of the system, and could cause actual damage to the machine if not properly dealt with.
Switching between GameGuard and Wellbia will certainly be a temporary thing, it's probably for contract reasons. Sega won't pay for 2 anti-cheats longterm, it will be seen as a waste of money. I suspect that GameGuard will be ditched once the contract ends and Wellbia will be the only choice for players in the near the future.
Part of me hopes that this is just a testing phase, and if there's enough pushback(So far even on the official discord there's been some heavy pushback) they'll walk it back. If they do continue to go through with it, I only hope they've been working with it enough to not have problems arise, so far what I'm concerned about is xigncode doesn't like Nvidia shadowplay, and mouses with say 12 buttons on the side
Wow, it’s like gameguard for the Jp translation in the 2010 all over again! Sigh! Most character data is server side, just let us have mods… I don’t play the pc version anymore. But with my experience with the jp servers on base. A lot more crashes, error, u having to reinstall everything even tho a weaker can fix it in second!
For the average player it might not have too big of an impact. Some people have had that program on their machines from other games and never had any issues. There might be some extra hoops to jump through though.
idk what you mean by boycotting won't help. most of the playerbase is on pc both jp and global and the number aren't too good as it is. i think boycotting could do massive damage.
To be fair, why this world dont implement another system to vote business in and out. like government id system...u can anonymous vote anti cheat company running in u country . meant the government id to vote the provider/supply chain out of our country, but they dont have access to our data in online game, because we dont login online game via government id..... Like mix private account with government account, but this epic of combination is impossible. if even we have government id that work international...they might force us to use it and get rid of our privacy

so the vram leak on amd when switching between base and ngs is related to xincode ?

Sure, but good luck convincing thousands of players to not log into the game for several weeks on end though. People are too set in their ways.

I don't like stuff being forcefully downloaded on my pc
Hope you're not on a Windows PC, then...
Just came back after testing wellbia on PSO2's steam version after implementation. It really didn't do anything different.
Same deal with Microsoft and epic games. This turned out better than I thought.
I'm a bit worried since I still use the tweaker for Steam NA
Hmm... dunno why my comments get deleted each time.
Tweaker team already covered the topic on their d****rd (hope won't get deleted again).
Phantasy Star Online was never meant to be an international game. I guess it's either move to Japan or let it rest for good. Long live PSO2 base jp.

I wonder if the GameGuard switch is for the Linux users that can't run the new trash code or maybe Steam Deck people?
Sounds like a possibility.
I doubt they care about Linux users :/
Any chance this will cut down on RMT bots??
Doubtful. That's always going to be with us in one way or another.
Where were the people said ' even the Japanese are complaining about the anti cheat : . Couldn't see anything of what the Japanese say
I think I saw something about that on Reddit. I guess they're upset about it too because of the potential impact to things like Reshade and Joy2Key.
@@Zeomantic lol people wouldn't mind if they get banned . Because the game is bad ( as they always said )
That's just your opinion.

So people can't play jp anymore 😢?
Seems that way, but I know there are ways to "de-fang" it so to speak.
There is a way. you can try a vpn router. But those are a pain in the ass to set up
Wellbia xigncode is not good
Especially if it makes the game harder to play
And that's the last thing they need right now. At least this won't faze the console bros.
Wellbia is make the game stutter and BSOD, South Korea software is worst i think.
Thanks for the cheaters they made videos for awake sega
