Zephetto dropped several major bombshells about our world, but our convo was cut short when a starless vanguard rolled up.
Our heroes have settled into their new roles as these fiends make their way across Halpha.
It seems the research folks hit pay dirt while exploring Leciel, and Pharia wants to see us.
We head over to the command room to meet up with Pharia, who seems a little… off. Zephetto borrows Pharia’s body and bids us meet him at this newly discovered locale called the nameless city.

I can see us going in a HUGE depression arc when we gain our memories and realize that EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING WE KNEW ARE DEAD
I doubt it, since this case seems to be more an easter egg. Unless they put in the budget to make two distinct paths depending on whether they make you some "generic" ARKS (aka, not mc from pso2) vs you from either post ep3 or ideally ep6... inb4 a alma/matoi dna clone outta nowhere

The craziest part is it doesn't even matter what character you finished story in base is, if you finished it with one other character, you get the third dialogue unlocked for all others on the same ship

@@zeehero7280 If you finished base PSO2's main story, and then proceed to get to Chapter 7 of NGS, then the beginning cutscene when players arrive in Nameless City adds a bonus dialogue option where the Halpha Guardian (our MC) comments about the familiar the place looks and then proceeds to have a flashback of Matoi.
Basically, it's highly implied that the Halpha Guardian is actually the original Guardian from PSO2.
Despite his short role, Zephetto ended up being very well put together for what he was. :)
He's the primary link between us and the old days. His name tags him as both the creator of the Dolls and also the new ARKS, which he created with the wish that his creation would one day become the real thing. His parting words were basically "You've become da real bois!" XD
Furthermore, if you combine his motivations with the Song of Mourning, (which was played almost ritualistically every day in the Nameless City), it lends the lyrics of that song an almost dogmatic reverence that wasn't evident before.
"your grief unending; let its flame light the path ahead"
"your sacrifices will be told"
"'till my dying day, I'll sing your refrain; let it echo in my veins"
"your light shines on; a beacon burning in the night, showing us the way"
"your melody will sound till sweet eternity, echo to the skies"
I'm inclined to think Zephetto may have been the author of the Song of Mourning, considering how closely it aligns with his experiences.
I found it crazy that it's our PSO2 character the entire we are playing as. Also, the problem with PSO2 character is that you can have the biggest smile on your face and just witness a mass murder without changing your expression or have a ahego face while in a serious cutscene.

I seriously can't wait to see where the story goes a year from now. Also, I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say that either Casra or Xiao froze us, assuming we didn't go "I must go, this planet from the future I didn't just imagine needs me!"

so far the Starless are like the Tyranids of PSO2 but in macrocosmic scale .
just remember what Pharia said in chapter 6 : the Starless came from beyond our existance space.
now imagine a 1000 years ago , the conflict against PD was on the run , with so much photonic activity called their attention from another universe like : its that what i think it is ? :)
or another more disturbing theory : they didnt came before because they were afraid of PD and her darkers minions.
Doesn't Zephetto also mention before the fight versus him that the also come from outside space and time?

imagine if starless is on outside of Oracle universe feasting on photons of that universe, after they devour that universe they felt unsatiated hunger, then Guardian and PD duel comes in making explotion of Photons causing that "thing" to notice a glimmer light(photon) on the random direction, so "they" go there to "eat" more
but well thats the thing i can think of based on too much reading cultivation manhua with many Realm, Electric Boogaloo Isekai Manga and Awakener and game-like Manhwa and Manhua and recently manga with its Multiple Universes inside a Dungeons

I find funny the part that you mention of those who started with NGS that has no ties with Classic PSO2... well, in my case I had since the end of 2020 when I gave PSO2 a quick try (which again, the UQ vs Dark Falz Gemini + Profound Darkness... which was the veeeery 1st UQ I played, sold me on playing it but IRL stuff really didn't give me time to play until October 2022 arrived (and also due to a dofus thing I did, I had to restart from scratch instead of having the progress I already had on classic PSO2... not that it mattered as the progress I had was just way too little to really complain about it and other stuff like doing client orders from event NPCs like the COMI characters I never did them to begin with due to lack of time after the quick try that made me think... "I'm going to like this"), and decided to play the story of classic while I was waiting for the Stia update while doing progress in the NGS story, which at the time I was at the middle point of the Kvaris arc) had a tie to it, and despite not being able to play the game for a veeeeery long time, the first impression the game gave me (refer to my first UQ thing again) never left my memories and I found myself in the path of PSO2 again and better than ever.
Is going to be interesting to see how things will go in the story after this 909 thing in the Nameless City, as it's possible that a switcheroo happened as the explanation of the 4th clone thing happened before fighting the Starless.
And of course, I got THAT 3rd option popping as before the Stia update back in December 2022, I had completed the True Ending of Episode 6 (which is the condition to make the 3rd option to appear) and of course, I picked said option without thinking and it suprised me.
Indeed that it has been a while that you went into the Lore Keeper thing (also a complementary reason of why I played the story of classic PSO2).
I am really happy with this update, as it both satisfies the newcomers and the veterans, it makes the newcomers want to ask more questions about the past, and for us veterans no more information is needed because we know it all which I think is a good balance, even if they were to inject more information, and with the information revealed about the starless makes me want to know more, like when did they start existing, and if they existed 1000 years ago or below why didn't they attack then
Yeah it does a great job stirring up intrigue.
Wonder if all the falspawns holding the Starless back then we wrecked the Primodial Darkness causing all falspawn gone and Starless got nothing to eat.
I could believe that. Something had to be keeping them from coming on the scene sooner.

So are we going to ignore the fact that the Starless look kinda similar to the SEED from Phantasy Star Universe, if not an evolution of the SEED from Phantasy Star Universe? Or is talking/thinking Phantasy Star Universe the equivalent of talking/thinking about the Roman Empire?

There is a pattern. Possible spoilers, but in some ways DF Aegis is a lot like Dark Falz Elder with all the arms. Many people considered the look of Solus to be similar to DF Luthor when Solus first came out. Dalion maybe the symbolic DF Apprentice with the 2-5 puppets that fight at its side. There were 4 hosts of Apprentice in Base game if you recall how Episode 5. If you count Margarit, then that's 5 hosts. Vael and introduction in the story screams DF Persona with how he inhabits the 4th clone of the guardian at the end. With this in mind I have to ask, are we going to see a symbolic DF Gemini Starless soon?

Heres the thing it makes no sense for the outcome of Base to be NGS when Xiao was planning for the future unless he knew the starless would eventually appear. Xiao, Xiera, Sukunahime, Phaleg, Harriette (and possibly by extension the as of Base 380 year old Risa), and probably Matoi are more than likely still around at least considering all the possibilities and the lore we've been given so far. With everything that happened in to last chapter it all but confirms the Gaurdian from Base is the character we play in NGS because of the special dialogue option, our habit of absorbing too much X-factor and getting put in cryo, Xiao's planning for the future, Xion using her power to make us and Matoi effectively immortal, and our pretty much god status by the end of Base. The big question right now is where the big players who are definitely still around are as taking into account the lore that most of the populace was wiped out has been changed 2 times and as of right now its been stated that the entire outer section of the know populated universe was wiped out that still leaves at least trillions of people alive so wtf is next?
Here's the thing we've come to expect the writers to deal in the nonsensical.

So I ran away to FFXIV when NGS launched because... well it stunk. You're telling me THIS is all the story development they've had?

IIRC, there are only 2 people that have the title Guardian. But it didn't mean there won't be more. I think it is unlikely to be more Guardian as a major threat has already vanished, and Starless comes very later in the timeline. But could it be a new Guardian in the time of the war with the Starless? Maybe, however, I think the war was so fast that granting someone the title Guardian might not even happen.
This is just a speculation. I believe the one in the pod is neither us in the PSO2 nor Matoi. There is one more person who would also have the title Guardian if they are still with ARKS, that is Persona. In fact, as someone who only fate is different from us. Persona might be mistaken as us (Guardian) in NGS.
So, yes. Personally, I think 909 is Persona.
I dont think so, Guardian title is quite special due to their resistance to falspawn corruption and the ability to absorb those corruption from infected Arks. No one has this title anymore, especially now that falspawn is gone and Arks fleet weakened from peace. And Persona practically gone on final battle after Primodial Darkness eliminated for he also dark falz.
Either the one in the pod is MC and Matoi. MC one got statis and unstatis itself for unknown reason.
@@zerofighterfairy not a unknown reason, but emergency defrosted and launched when the facility housing and maintaining the Guardian pod got attacked by the Starless.
@-LastStand- was it? I thought Starless started to appear after we beat Zephetto and he went yolo with his gundam.
@@zerofighterfairyi think it was in the optional reply to Zephetto when you say you woke up in your pod before touch down on Halpha.
Edit: If you go back to the intro scene, you can see your character's eyes open up mid-flight.
What are you even talking about? Persona is quite literally dead. Him and the rest of the Dark Falz decided to formally pass on after the Primordial Darkness was defeated. Even taking that aside, Persona never had the title of Guardian to begin with. Said title only came about during Episode 4 and it was a title specifically created for the Guardian and Matoi because of their contributions and importance to ARKS.
Also, as a Dark Falz, Persona lacks the same purification abilities that his original self had and risks corrupting others with his presence and potentially turn them into Falspawn too. He legitimately cannot be with ARKS knowing that. Al is the only Dark Falz that doesn't do that and his existence was a combination of multiple factors being involved in his creation.
