I just got back in to flying and my response to the faa is to get as many of my friends in to the hobby as I can (they need hobbies) and not tell them about the remote id bs as to not scare them away from the hobby. They could be doing much darker things with their lives
A true friend
I felt everything you spoke of. No need for remote ID in class G airspace. Definitely overreach and over regulation. I have also noticed about a 2× decrease on my RUclips ad revenue it really sucks. I can't imagine doing RUclips for a living and having the fate of your finances in Googles greedy hands. Definitely sad what they have done to the creators on this platform who have made them so much money. Appreciate all you do and are doing for our hobby Bruce. 🤟
I have so much respect for Bruce and what he stands for. He’s a class act. Thank you for all that you do for us! I’ll alway root for you the way you do for us.
Here here
Second that
+1
The entire country is already a FRIA: Land of the FRIA, home of the brave.
Damned Straight! #LockAndLoad
It should be, but when rc flight is involved, guilty until proven innocent seems to apply.
Well put. !
SOUNDS GOOD SHOW ME ;)
Free only to those that can afford it!
We're not going anywhere Bruce. I've never watched a single vid you've posted that I didn't' feel like I got value out of it. You're straight up one of the very best no bs channels on RUclips. Keep em coming , I'm just an old KY fan.
Thanks for what you brother!
Your idea regarding how the FAA should treat class g as a fria and classify certain areas as "RID" zones would make sense if the purpose of the whole RID mandate, as the FAA defined it, was to make the hobby safer for all. The mandate actually came about through pressures exerted by some "Large Delivery" titans who demanded priority over the "under 400ft" drone airspace. It's those companies who want to know where your drone is at any time and who, I have no doubt, would serve as de facto enforcers should they discover any flight behavior they find to be a threat to their operations......They'll make the call and the FAA will send the letters and issue the fines.
I remember back in 2015 when the FAA was explicitly banned from regulating consumer drones. Like they say, give a tyrant a little power and he will use it to take all of the power.
Thanks!
I wouldn't go on YT, or internet in general, without an adblocker. Otherwise I would have sledgehammered my computer a long time ago!
And so to help your favourite YT channels, do you make regular donations directly?
I 'suffer' the ad's, because I can not afford to pay directly. In this way, I support the channels I like and they get something to help keep them going.
For many years when me and my wife had a RUclips channel, we composed our own music, we're very accomplished musicians so it didn't take much to provide music for a 12 minute video. We had a huge following but we never monetized our videos. We made damn sure RUclips could take their ads and shove them up there ass. As far as the remote ID, I fly " RC MODEL AIRPLANES", they are not drones and I for one will never give into the FAA's bullshit.......
The trouble with saying remote ID will probably not affect 'you' unless you get picked up for something else - so don't worry about it - is that mistakes, accidents and unfortunate circumstances can happen to anyone, regardless of whether something wilful is being done or not.
And, in that situation, the penalty may well be disproportionate to send a message to others.
There's also the point that if one has 3rd party insurance - which is a responsible thing to do - such policies usually have a caveat that flights must be legal. So, if there is no RID module but there should be, it may well be the insurance cover is not valid.
Bruce ,you have always given us high-quality content and information. I'm happy to say that I am a patreon subscriber. RUclips, like most of social media, the greed and Desires to control content they have
Lost their way, There's no way they want the small guy to earn a fair amount of money.
good info! love the channel and keep them coming!
Chap ... You are a Ferkin Genius! As my 18 daughter would say ... "Just saying"
Love ya work chap.
Have you thought of having your alarm boards available fully built directly from one of the PCB makers. You could have a unique licence code that you sell for the profit you require. So customer buys the hardware, then pays you to enable the sofware
I was going to suggest the same thing, he should be producing these and selling them a lot.
you are right AGAIN! keep up the good work for as long as you can afford it.
Its Rare a man with INTEGRATY thanks Bruce
Most honest person on youtube.
👍
After reading the FAA remote ID document, I've come to the conclusion that they have their talking points, but don't have a complete finalized working definition or process. It's all temporary. Nothing is finalized. It could all change 6 months to a couple years from now. It might not be anything like what they are pushing at this time.
It will become *NETWORK* Remote ID -- that was the original plan and that remains the end-game. Once that's in place it becomes "pay to fly" or they can simply ground the hobby altogether by not granting requests to arm/fly.
@@xjet And if the network module can't reach an authorizing server, not the FAAs problem.
thank you for the quick update
Don't forget it's more than RID it the T.R.U.S.T A registration (Pilot/Drone) one must carry and be able to present to any authority that requests it, and probably they will check if your underwire is clean too.
Full body cavity search
Watching your entire video!!!
I got the note about ads as well. I do love the "we are enhancing things by taking away your control" It seemed like it was just talking about pre/post ads, but I certainly agree that it was a little ambiguous about mid-rolls (which I also hate/don't use) whilst they didn't say they were taking control of their use, they didn't explicitly say they weren't either.
Yes, I've asked for clarification and so far just got crickets... maybe they're keeping their options open depending on feedback?
Chinese export ban for FC is not out yet cause I have bougt weekly FC from Speedy Bee and all have been shipped and they had replied that their products are not meant by the ban to export. not sure if that is limited to the F405 fixed wing cause I am only buying F405 fixed wing FC for the upcoming holiday camps for the kids.
I had trouble earlier this year when I had ordered those FC as usually in batches of 5 or 10. Those orders have been canceled back then.
Speedy Be since then has delivered those orders of 1 per week. Takes more time, but also going easiert cause 10 FC had triggered customs which were about 150€ net.
Speedy Bee has said they can no longer ship FCs. That's according to Blunty on the FPVFC livestream a few minutes ago.
Thanks for all you do Bruce, cheers! 👍💪✌️
Finally the expert analysis we all needed on these topics
Rock on Xjet your on fire !!! Thankyou for all your efforts ......😉😎
A couple years ago I subscirbed to utube premium. no ads at all! For me its well worth it. I never have to deal with ads etc on utube for $10-12/mo. fk ads.
Thanks, Bruce!
I’ve often gotten copyright claims for music. And there’s NO MUSIC in the video. Thankfully mine have all been resolved properly and quickly.
9:30 I think I saw a glimpse of that thing behind your head. It looks like a model of a microwave repeater tower. That's rather cool.
It's actually a model of the old tower that used to be on our flying field -- until the previous mayor of the town decided it must be pulled down for no good reason. Crazy -- because people came from around the world to get a selfie in front of that tower, it was the town's biggest tourist attraction.
@@xjet Very interesting -- and disappointing it was removed. Somewhat like the observation tower at Gettysburg. I have been up there and was astonished when I learned it had been removed.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gettysburg_National_Tower
Great video! I've heard many other RUclipsrs say the same thing. Keep up the good work!
cheers Bruce, keep up the good work,
if it comes to bailing out to a new platform, we will follow you, let us know whats going on :)
Bruce ... I have followed you for a long time ... I use to fly 3 meter gliders + electric RC aircraft ... then a drone in the U.K. ... the hobby is almost finished here ... my equipment is in the attic !!! ... I have often wondered what you will do with yourself when RC has finished in NZ ... it’s a sad situation ... take care from John in the U.K. 🙁
The battle isn't over and the war isn't lost until the last soldier lays down his arms. I intend to keep battling for this hobby until my last breath so hopefully we're not done yet! :-)
It'd be funny to have the monitor in the background playing FPV crash videos 🤣
Maybe sell a production agreement to a manufacturer for your alarms?
Bruce I need another workout video from you. Bruce is getting jacked guys 🤣…cheers
Thanks Bruce 👍👍👍
Take the music out and we will sing along in our heads Bruce😊
I received that email from RUclips as well Bruce and came to the same conclusion as you, shame there's no decent competitor, good rant 👍
we have roughly 40 people that fly at my local field which is on private property, we had a meeting to discuss this nonsense and we decided to abandon the AMA and cease membership since they abandoned and didn't defend modelers from this egregious overreach by the FAA. we feel that the annual AMA membership fees were keeping new modelers from getting into the hobby anyway, Oh and of we voted on signage at the entrance to our field, FAA and AMA are not welcome and we will prosecute for trespassing, new modelers are welcome
The ONLY reason I would consider being compliant with remote ID is for insurance reasons. I contacted my State Farm rep where I have a home owners floater policy that covers liability if I damage property or persons while flying my RC airplanes (drones).. The rep was not aware (of course) of remote ID but in his office was another rep listening and mentioned that they are actively reviewing in to non compliance as invalidating your floater policy! This really sucks, if so, then you lose your insurance coverage if you are not compliant!. They have not finalized anything yet. Have you heard anything about this topic?
Thanks Bruce well done.u looking well .and body’s looking good sir
Been doing my best to stay in shape after the Parkinson's diagnosis. I'll keep fighting to the end (in everything I do).
I like, enjoy, and appreciate your videos, but I don’t watch as much because I just don’t fly anymore.
All the best.
Oh no you said let's get started, they are going to announce at the UAV expo going in Las Vegas apparently, the one Patrick is at
Most people don't even know what FAA stands for. Many people erroneously believe it means Federal Aviation Administration but actually it means Fed's Against Aviation.
I've been saying all along that every place should be a, "FRIA" except places that shouldn't be. Having "RID" zones would be a much better idea.
RUclips is hard work... I've a buddy who wants to "van life" and thinks RUclips is easy.. Lol he's in for a shock.
We love ya Bruce... I'd buy an ADSB alarm...
You could make a video about DIY an ADSB alarm. That way we practice our skills for when it's time to start building our own FC's
Seems to me the people most forced into RID are the AMA members who do not get a FRIA. You still want to use that field and odds are the club itself will enforce the rules. Every AMA club I've ever visited are very big on rules.
if serious about hosting ... I reckon a few of us here could support such an effort? Are any of us here interested, and have the tech and time to have a live chat to discuss current topics? Discord, MS Teams, etc? Bruce do you have the time to have a live chat? I'm thinking Sunday arvo every couple of weeks? Sorry, I can be a bit forward but "...times are a, changing" And you are hitting the nail on the head. I hear you though, and you're not alone.
Just signed up to your patreon bruce hope this goes some way to helping you to keep going with your vids
That's a shame,I was interested in your ADS-B Broadcast receiver.I would love to have one.
Thanks
I like your IDEAS
Gday Bruce, listening to you talk about YT reminded me of a similar time about 2 years ago when i got pissed off with the changes to the advertising policy of YT. I went the way of de-platforming and went to Vimeo. While it worked well enough it never gained the same traction i had with my YT channel. Eventually i let it go. I have not made a public RC video since. Sounds like you are at that questioning stage yourself and i hope you can find a solution.
We already have restricted airspace.
At this point I am of the mind that they want to limit drone use because they can be used to catch folks who are doing things they are not supposed to do.
Imagine a scenario where bad actors are violating a persons Civil Rights and neighbors are filming the action with camera drones. It would make claims of legality hard to press when evidence proves otherwise.
I wonder if this comment will see the light of day.
I have never worried about RID. The only aspect that is worrisome is the ability for anyone to see the pilot's location.
Every regulation, restriction or financial burden on flyers needs to be backed up with a solid rationale based on evidence. We've seen *ZERO* justification for the introduction of RID. It was originally proposed as an "urgent need" almost five years ago yet in that time we've seen no deaths from the recreational use of multirotor drones and I'm unaware of any state secrets being lost to hobby drones either. Give me good reason and I will agree -- give me no reason and I will object.
@@xjet It seems there are some "state secrets" that the powers that be (in my opinion) are trying desperately to cover up, like, oh I don't know, in Lahaina. There is a convenient ban on drones there right now that prohibits any flights over burned areas. Hopefully 'they' don't plan more of that type of operation over America but, God forbid, if they do I'll bet there will be more bans on drones in those places too.
This is a great idea Bruce! Make USA a FRIA with zones where you need RID! Bruce for Model Aviation President!
Talk about things costing money. A friend who had a Manufacturing co was making a product a paint can hanger you could hang a 1 gallon to a 5 gallon pail of paint on an extension ladder or a step ladder. Well unorder to sell it in hardware stores or Waymart home depot ect he had had to have POINT OF SALE Packaging that was both the shipping and display carton like U see at check outs. The minimum order for this packaging was $20,000 first time because it included the Steel Rule dies (Equipment) to make te packageing that was only 500 cartons.
If RUclips is acting like you say, it’s time for something new
taking a job like the drone patrol would be like ...... being a telemarketer !!!!
3:36 Simple, it's because of money, or a lack thereof. The AOPA and EAA have a large positive cash flow (what do you think Airventure is for) and some of that money is used to lobby Congress and the FAA directly. Any time the FAA tries to do anything silly those organizations rally up the manned aviation community and get them on the war path. The way I see it, there are only two ways forward for drone operators. Either create an organization with a vested interest in lobbying Congress, or convince the organizations that already have the infrastructure that whatever happens to drones, GA will surely follow.
I think I'd rather buy an ice cream
than more drone stuff at this point.
Glad none of this affects the sim.
I have had numerous copywriter claims by scammers too
if we cant get fcs. we can make a net work of people selling ic chips, micro controllers ect and build our own.
I def woudn't mind learning how to make my own pcbs....that would suck if we were pushed to that point but, it would be pretty cool to have the knowledge to make our own pcb boards...
Ooooh come try and bust me and my bando boys!
We can’t wait to stuff you in the boot of your FAA wagon.
THIS IS OUR AIRSPACE!!!
ABSD alarm! - YES! You can always ask for donations rather than just publishing it for free.
FAA Remote ID FRIAsco. There is me in RUclips, small channels no longer make money for their efforts.
Bruise U might not want to go there because any where U fly a MANNED Aircraft U must FAA Reg 91.119 (c) Over other than congested areas. An altitude of 500 feet above the surface, except over open water or sparsely populated areas. In those cases, the aircraft may not be operated closer than 500 feet to any person, vessel, vehicle, or structure. It's the 500' from any object or person they they might try to enforce. The AMA says fly at least 25' from your self and anyone else not 500'.
RUclips wants to pay "shorts' Creators and ya cant run an ad on a 30 second video. Why does RUclips care more about 30 sec. shorts? Nobody can tell ya but I inject that when you watch short clips that run over and over, It makes your mind susceptible to be hypnotised. Yes I really think this cause everytime i notice a clip is playing too long, I FEEL LIKE IVE JUST WOKEN UP FROM A NAP AND A LITTLE FUZZY HEADED. and my hair is slightly wavy at most
Damn this Richie guy is very very smart. I wouldnt mind him being Prime MINISTER OF America
Hi Bruce, Great RANT ! Congrats edgewater. I just don't see any reason to worry about R ID. I doubt that it will be ready for a couple of years. WoW ! 5 figures, I am doing something wrong. LOL, Thanks again for the video and information. And proud to be a member.
That was my solution. Leave MAAC,get insurance, and carry on.
have you seen the news on the Connecticut drone detection unit?
someone said those CNC wood cutters are basically the same thing as a flight controller
What's to stop the FAA from installing listening/recording devices on cell phone towers to collect RID data covering the entire country 24hrs a day?
The FAA has already awarded contracts for a RID data-collection network. I think it went to a Swiss company.
And the claimant gets all your personal info. So be carefull
So you could say that You Tube is Aiding and Abetting a felon, to carry out even more nefarious practices?
Watch video -New Jersey business owner used drone to drop dye into nearby pools: Police. FAA helped track offender down,?DJI drone?
I've seen 6-minute videos on RUclips that had 45 minutes of advertisement if you chose not to skip ad... That's why I do RUclips premium and skip them all
So effectively, You Tube enticed you to pay them, by annoying you constantly.
I watch up to 30 or 35 seconds of the advert, to assist the channel that I support, (they get paid after 30 seconds) then I skip it. Any short 15 second ad's do not pay the channel, only YT. So after 5 seconds I skip those. I will never, never, never, ever give You Tube a cent of my money, despite the fact that they 'harass' me with constant advertising material. If I pause a video, when I go and start it again, another ad is inserted. Once I can afford to, I will skip all the ad's and pay the channel directly.
US$29.2 billion is what You Tube made in revenue in 2022. What do the need all that money for? They don't donate directly to any charities (according to Google Search), they only allow the facilitation of channel users on their platform to do this. The owners of YT are Google. They donate US$100 million in investments and grants to nonprofits annually. SOoooo generous. Bill gates has put $5 Billion through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation alone!
What are they hoarding their money for? What are they going to spend it on next? Or are they just paying all that profit to the shareholders? That's the 'charity' they support. All care and no responsibility aye.
What's the link for these 45 minute adds?
@@M-H433 what???
The ads at the beginning are fine but yes when I get another set of ads every 5 minutes in yes I start to get discouraged and probably turn that video off. RUclips itself is getting awful. Bunch of clutter like tiktoks and ads scrolling through. RUclips should be about the creators and viewers only.
Google brought You Tube in 2005. I wonder if they know where they are going? YT made US$29.2 Billion revenue in 2022. YT donates to no charities. Only supports channels who wish to raise money for charities. Google donates US$100 million in investments and grants to nonprofits annually. SOoooo generous. Not.
I suffer the 30 seconds of ad before skipping (According to Bruce, he gets paid for that. I actually click 35 seconds, just to be sure) and skip the 15 second adverts at the 5 second mark, because that just pays YT. When I can afford to, I will skip all ad's ASAP and pay Bruce a donation directly.
I will never give YT a cent of my money i.e will never go to the premium service. That's like saying, "I will hound you constantly day after day, BUT if you pay me some cash every day, I will stop it."
Sounds just like the bullies at school who came around at lunch time and threatened me if I didn't give them my sandwiches. I put hot mustard in mine and they left me alone after that 😉
Yeah same here
Bruce if you need to run ad's then you run them you need to manage to live so you run them
I wonder if Tyler Perry applied for a FRIA for his home🤔
RID is flawed and doesn't make sense for FPV. I don't think the majority will comply (not including DJI or commercial pilots). Also, if your intention is to make money you need a part 107.. With that you're expected to report every crash to the FAA (am I just supposed to troll them and call 5 times a day)!? I think we should use LAANCE only for recreational plus 107 flights in sparsely populated areas. I think the majority would be willing to check the app, see why or if they are in restricted airspace and the FAA would get a log of where UAVs are flying. I feel RID should be reserved for bvlos, commercial applications with risk to property or person, etc.. Reasonable rules would protect the public, protect pilots and promote compliance. The current rules are so far off, at least the FAA realizes that people cannot or will not use rid.
Their never going to let U fly anyplace with out RID because it all about the MONEY and some day they will charge for permission/right to fly your TOYs in the National Airspace FOLLOW THE MONEY.
"Why don't they just have zoning? It makes no sense" because it has nothing to do with safety.
Police/ govt could fly over people, they could monitor what is said to be criminal activity, they don’t need lights at night, they don’t need approval for anything.
Also when they’re trying to create a fleet of delivery drones for amazon etc.
I cannot fly over an unknown person, not that i do, generally speaking or i get in trouble for this action. Got it.
For some reason ads don’t show up for me
Istead of the hobby market losing availability of components due to military use, it seems they have the ability to ban such sales... If they wanted to.
Drones are expensive and it be expensive to be irresponsible. But documentation need to be clear for drones under 250g cause injuries or property damage.
Bruce, I write and produce music. If you need music I can provide it to you free of charge since you’ve done so much for the drone community.
Thanks mate, I appreciate the offer. The problem is that there are also many people who have had their own original works claimed and there's nothing they can do about it except take the claimant to court -- which is both expensive and time-consuming.
@@xjet never had a strike in over 360 videos. However, please keep on - the AMA released a video on remote ID. Its interesting to say the least.
At the moment the changes aren't going to effect mid-roll ads BUT YT are greedy so I think it is only a matter of time before they force mid-roll ads on to everyone. The changes are just about pre and post run ads and whether they are skippable or not. Ad revenue is collapsing, we have seen it drop by 30% in the last few months. We gett bugger all anyway, about $200 a month before it collapsed but now it is just pathetic.
Hmmmmmmmmmm, might be a good time for me to buy a few flight controllers.
Simple solution for RUclips - do as I do - Not a single video is Monetarised - I have no issues......
The problem with that is that RUclips is now running ads on videos that are posted by non-monetized channels -- in which case *they* pocket *all* the money.
Hi Bruce! How about joining up with 'Keeps', a hair restorative product?
😂
Yeah, I'd only have to take my shirt off to demonstrate the product's effectiveness :-P Haha.
Drones will be not directly outlawed in america, but they will make so many laws to make it impossible for the average person to comply thereby eliminating ownership of drones.
I disagree. Most people will simply ignore regulations.
I appreciate your hard work and dedication to the hobby. I hope things turn around financially so that you can continue. RUclips is going to drive more and more channels away with their new advertising rules.
RUMBLE ftw!😊
Do the trust test , should be good I have my card no money half hour an use common sense.take care from nord Minnesota
massively intrusive regulations being imposed on the hobby and now the purchase of rc flight related products are being blocked, it almost looks like someone is deliberately trying to kill the hobby....
flight controllers can be made locally from non chinese parts, electrical engineers have only been prevented by china competition. it will cost a little more like you say, but sounds fun to me :P
Ill let adds run right through if you put them in Bruce your videos, Just one way to support you.
Just go with the mid rools
We shall NEVER surrender!
