Also, if you have any idea where in Germany your grandfather was from, you can contact the local council. It is very likely that they have some documentation about your grandfather being German.

It IS possible, but as you´ve just mentioned, we´ve been flooded with people without a proper education during the last 6 years and it´ll always be a big advantage for you if you already have an employer at the time of your arrival. Applying remotely is pretty easy nowadays, and there are tons of jobs for english-speakers out there. I wish I could get my hands on one of those, but they will always prefer a native speaker no matter what.

Unfortunately, content-wise very NARROW, and shallow video as it is only done with a very Euro-centric view. A production that again, displays clearly the discrimination aspects of the developed countries against people from developing nations.

For me I would apply first tourist visa before apply there for work and to apply permanent residency hopefully that they’ll see my worth and hopefully I befriend the right people
If it’s my first time I recommend going with the herd of tourists who had been there back and forth for safety and reliability

Even though people colloquially say "tourist visa", you actually don't need a visa as a tourist. At least that applies to citizens from most countries in the world, there are of course exceptions.
What's actually meant is the "visa free time" that you're allowed to stay here, which is usually (again, for most countries of origin, like eg. the USA, but not all) 3 months within any 6 months time frame. So you can stay in Germany as an American without any visa or paperwork for 3 months, then have to leave (the Schengen zone, not only Germany) for at least 3 months.
However during this visa free stay you're not allowed to work obviously, but you could use this time to set up a registered adress and prepare for all the paperwork. Keep in mind though that only people from certain countries are eligible to do their visa applications from within Germany, in many cases you have to go through the German embassy in your home country.
