I wanna say don't you dare cut these up! You may be the first human being in the history of the world to put those colors together and they are *beautiful!* 💚💙
The stenciling did it for me..they really pulled the pieces together. along with the Posca dots. Watching you paint is a great start to the day.. Thank you, Denise.🤗
When you pulled out that first Stencil Girl stencil, I was going "yeah, yeah, yeah!" because it was the perfect element for these pieces. I like the freshness and energy of these two pieces. I could totally see them hanging in the lobby of a contemporary office building for a promising startup company. These would fire people up and get them ready for work! 😊
I love this color combo! It's fun, lively, and playful. As always, thank you for teaching me how to "just play" and not get caught up in chasing a specific outcome! 💗
Ugh. I know exactly what you mean! Especially when Gelli printing. I love the chaos & randomness of gel printing, especially when you get to multiple complex layers of colours & patterns. But it’s so hard to keep going when you’ve got a pretty layer that’s only a couple of layers in. I sometimes take a photo of what I’ve got & then I can keep going from there. Sometimes on a printout, most often on the original.
Ooooh, that blue and the spotty dottie stencil!! Love it. You chose colors that speak to both me and my mom who passed away a year ago. This immediately made me think of her. I'm the blue and green and she's the yellow oxide and green 🙂
These colors ended up so cool! I’m so sorry you lost your mother. I lost mine 10 years ago, and it still feels like it was yesterday. 🤗 So glad you loved this one! Thank you! 🥰
Love the teal. Those heat guns are dangerous. They will start to turn the paper brown if you hold it in one place too long. Be careful. Hope you're having a great week. I'm always happy when I see you posted a video.😊
I was excited to hear you say that this was an experiment after spraying one and not the other. These colors are very summery and I loved both stencils…and the name Spotty Dotty. Both pieces are fun!
Love these! I view them as backgrounds for me to add focal images too because that’s what I love to do and if I did those I’d be this is a good paint day!! 💕💕💕
It only takes 10 seconds of courage! I actully love the colors and the finished painting. Great job! I tell my students there is always an ugly stage, dont give up.
I loved how these turned out and I think I like the one that bled through more because it was missing some blue. And as for the crooked lines, I immediately noticed, but it reminded me of sunbeams coming off the circle stencil below it, so I loved it. Well done and thank you for showing it all!
Hi Denise! Love the reaction that the fixative created. Something about the stencil swirl in that one and the movement of the paint strokes and marks you created makes me think of Van Gogh’s The Starry Night. Beautiful!!!
Love these! The greatest lesson you are teaching me us to keep going. If you don’t like something you have put on your paper, just keep going. I aspire to get to the freedom you is have because I’m where you used to be where I give up in frustration. Thanks for inspiring me.
That blue is cool! I just re organized my pens into a pen rack so I can easily see all the ones I have. I’ll definitely be using more of those colors! 😊
😃 This was so much fun. I love how you share about people's comments, especially as when you applied the Sepia color and I was thinking Oh No that's going to mess it up. LOL But in the end these turned out to be very interesting and lovely. Thank You for your braveness! :)
Love how these turned out! Now I'm totally going to grab one of the cyanotype inspired pieces I painted that has an area I'm not loving - I'm going to layer some acrylic paint and/or stencil areas and see if I can love love my piece! As always, you never disappoint.❇💚💙💚❇
Well, I ike the stripes that are not straight down, almost looks like the suns rays. So there 😝🤣 I love the colors, my kind of colors, but since I love all colors I love everything you do!🥰
Love these. I’m hoping tomorrow that I can get into my art room and paint a little. March, April and May have been crazy months for me that have allowed me no time to paint and I’m really feeling it. Being able to spend time painting is like yoga for my mind. ❤
I really liked the backgrounds before you added the top layers. But you're right - sometimes we need to let go of the preciousness. Love the finished pieces. Good job!
Beautiful! Green and sepia is one of my fave combos! And I can’t say I’m sad to see the standard watercolor paper come back😉 You might want to try the Baohong Academy; it’s a great price and on a block so no taping if you don’t want a border👍🏻
Oh I intend to Denise…rainy days ahead so you can guess what I will do…thanks again for introducing me to abstracts …I love the freedom and now wonder why I ever stopped painting on paper, canvas etc…🤣🤣🤣
todays teeny tip= if you make the lines crooked, add more crooked lines, then they look on purpose! lol! the ones you did here actually look like the beginning of, like a sun ray pattern... see what i'm sayin'? or crisscross another set at a wonky angle... great stuff as always! oh, this is funny, i thought workable fixative was for like stencils & masks n stuff you wanted to move around, lol!!
Ohmygosh, what color is that turquoise matte paint? Is it one of the “blue green” ones? I just put together a cart of Blick matte paints and want to be sure to grab that one. It’s great with the light olive green. Thanks!
These turned out nicely! Thanks. I ordered some of the khadi paper is there anything else I need to know about this paper other than what you have shown us? Thanks for this Denise 😊❤
Replace the yellow ochre with gold or bronze & you’ve got my kind of colour palette right there. But… Ummmm… I kind of don’t see the relationship between that & the colour card (at all), but it looks really cool so doesn’t matter🤷♀️ Sort of reminds me of an aerial view of water & land.
I use the color cards as inspiration for color palette direction. Gets me past being stuck on what colors I might use. It’s a tool that works for me that might not be your thing. 😊
This question has nothing to do with this video per se, but…how do you go about choosing colors to purchase from the get go? I love/like certain colors, but then I see others that are pretty, but I can’t buy them all? How do you choose. I would like to hear from anyone watching this to respond, if you’re inclined. Thanks
I might be the wrong person to ask on that 🤣… I want all the colors! You could start out with a mixer set - red, blue, yellow, white, black… then you could experiment with color mixing and then just add a few colors you really love to that as you go. 😊
@@2lilowlsstudioThank you for your response. I went to college as a graphic arts major, so…I have an understanding of color mixing: values, tints and shade; I would rather not mix every time I want to create, but thank you anyway.
@@RMurrell31Most reasonable brand that I really like is the Areza sets - it is 60 colors in the sets I have and I have the acrylic paints and the watercolor gouache… ran about $45 a set for those when I bought them. What I like is the quality, higher student grade I’d say.. what I don’t like - you can’t get individual colors when they run out. You might check those out for the good variety! 😊
Lol, crooked. Being both retired and kinda stuck with a fractured sewing, driving, walking foot, I watch tons of art videos on RUclips. I’ve noticed SO many artists work in horizontal and vertical lines, nothing diagonal. Your lines weren’t crooked, they were moving toward diagonal.
Hi Denise, Received my Dina Wakley journals today. Disappointed. There full of heavy kraft paper, like cardboard. Should have read description better. Like your colours today.
I had the same reaction. It was suggested to prep the pages with white or black gesso. Works good with acrylic and textured backgrounds. Haven’t tried water colour as yet. All the best💐
The kraft papers are not my favorite to work on - so I didn't get that journal. If you end up making one like I did - then you can use papers you love - and I used less of the kraft papers since I don't like them as well. You can still play in the ones you got - definitely gesso the papers and look at them as a challenge and see what you can create! 🤗
@@Kate-sp1vx6vz9zWell.. there is the new class I made on making our own mixed paper journals until such time there is a commercial one in the works 😁🎨🤗🥰
Dina has a new journal in the pipeline that has not been released yet, so at the moment, the Kraft journals are her only available journals. The Kraft paper is very thirsty and sucks up the paints, so you can actually put on a layer of clear, white or black gesso first. You would probably be happier that way. It does accept paint, but you have to use a lot of it. It does work nicely with her scribble sticks and some other media without putting down an additional layer. Experimenting is a good thing. You can always cover it up with gesso or collage if you are not happy.
Both of these are luscious- experiments are always a surprise; “what-ifs” keep us learning. Thank you!!!!!! ❤️
So glad you loved them! Thank you! 🥰
