    Is there a difference in treatment between rotator cuff tendonitis and tendonosis?

    • @PerformanceSportSpine
      @PerformanceSportSpine  8 месяцев назад +1

      Some. Tendonitis is usually more acute, so just letting the tendon calm down bymodifying the load management. With tendinosis, usually more chronic with structural changes to the tendon, require exercises with progressive intensity increases to improve the capacity of the tendon.

    Shoulder pain started at 36 years while using mouse, Now mid 40's. Pain radiates all way from wrist up to shoulder. Also feels painful doing lat-pulldowns with wide grips. Also hurts like crazy when doing barbell bench presses but ok with dumbbell presses. Can't use mouse (not even ergonomic mouse) so have trained myself to use left hand for mouse. Even hurts when using keyboard. Right rotator cuff hurts also when holding barbells while doing squats. Can't figure out if I have impingement or tear or tendinopathy along with mouse shoulder. Thank you for your advice.

    Watched literally hundreds of these videos on how to sort shoulder problems. I was always struck by how many of the comments after each video suggested immediate relief due to whatever new exercise was used .... in fact , often , multiple commenters praising the therapist and thanking them for the new miracle approach. I thought to myself that this would be rather unlikely that multiple different injuries suddenly got " immediate relief" . Instead , I thought that this was probably " exercise induced algaesia"....not sure if this is the specific term...but anyway , it is the possible pain relief brought about by hard exercise in the injured region. This fools the patient ,on the spot, that the exercise is a miracle cure. I'm sure that next day it would be a different story. They would have suddenly experienced extra pain/discomfort once the endorphin effect has worn off. This therapist, at 3-20 mentioned this effect....the majority of other therapists conveniently forgot to make any mention of it. Just my sixpence.....tell me if I'm not wrong.....

    • @PerformanceSportSpine

      This is a very insightful and astute comment. We completely agree, no long term issue has a magic fix, and any short-term pain relief is due exercise induced algaesia among other things. And unfortunately this creates dependency on the person to "fix you", which very often makes the person worse long-tern. Thank you for watching!

      I have suffered for two years with shoulder impingement and a bursa , sleep is an absolute nightmare soon as I lay down the pain is there and it’s constant it never goes away , I struggle taking off and putting on clothes or reaching behind me . I had tried everything watched thousands of videos hoping for the magic bullet but this never happened. I ended up having a subacromial decompression surgery. Months after and I’m still in pain it’s worse now than before !! I’m two weeks in now to a new shoulder rehab and I’m doing it every day I’m strengthening all the muscles at the back of the shoulder and so far I’ve noticed I’m not in as much pain when lifting my arm and sleeping the pain is still there but it’s definitely less . I will sick with this routine now and gradually I know I can fix this problem , for the first time in years I can feel my shoulder blades move . These videos definitely do help but only if you work hard at them and make them part of your daily routine .

      You would need to get the shoulder assessed to see what is going on medical. Then if cleared to do so, do stretches and exercises gradually to increase the range of motion for the limited movements

I am unable to throw, push up or bench press and throw a punch without sharp pain. I also get sharp pain pushing up from chair or sofa so I've been using my elbows to push off. The pain is right where upper arm meets shoulder. Thank you for your response.

    Even after watching the vid, I am still unsure of what I have. I cannot put my hand on my lower back. Trying to do so, my arm is shakily locked in the motion, while I feel tremendous pain on my shoulder tip. If I force it a little more, I can feel an aching sharp pain from tip of shoulder down to elbow joint (some sort of underneath bicep). I also feel nagging pain (not sharp) when sleeping on the side as well as when raising arm at about 170 degree.

    • @PerformanceSportSpine
      @PerformanceSportSpine  3 месяца назад

      From what you are describing it is more likely to be one of the first two, but can not say for certain

  • @gaztambo139
    @gaztambo139 2 месяца назад +1

    I sort of have a bit of everything. It is less painful now than it was, I don’t get sudden pains anymore, it’s more of an ache if I try to push my arm beyond the restriction. My arm just stops at 100° in front, about 85° to my side (basically beyond this, my whole shoulder starts lifting) and if I put my arm behind my back, It’s painful to bend at the elbow to reach my belt, but in front, I can bend my elbow, no problem. I think it might be frozen shoulder, is that to do with the flexibility of the material that keeps fluid around the ball and cup joint, as opposed to the rotator cuff tendons ?

    • @PerformanceSportSpine
      @PerformanceSportSpine  2 месяца назад +1

      From what you are describing, especially if that range of motion is restricted, both actively and passively. The best working definition of frozen shoulder is 50% reduction in external rotation compared to the other shoulder and at least 25% reduction in one over plane (. i.e flexion, abduction). Also depending on your age, it my just be a "stiff shoulder", d/t arthritis. If you haven't yet, I would recommend get an x-ray. Here is our video link for Frozen Shoulder, hope it helps.
