An exceptional interview by an exceptional scientist regarding an exceptionally important subject. And I say this because of first hand experience having worked in a mitochondrial lab [genetics / bioenergetics] on a UC medical school campus.
One more thing to consider is the damage over time to Complex I [NADH dehydrogenase]. The damage in NADH dehydrogenase is due to leakage of high energy electrons that causes lipid peroxidation and superoxide anions.
Also, at MINUTE 25:40, neurodegeneration as a result the reduced ability-or inability-to use oxygen properly and to produce H2O by Complex IV [cytochrome oxidase], thus causing oxidative damage, is coupled with the reduction, or cessation, of ATP production in ATP Synthase [Complex V].
The latter may be of equal importance. This conditiion is a pathogenic form of State 4 Respiration where-normally-uncoupling proteins function to to produce heat [non-shivering thermogenesis] rather than ATP; with a purpose, and importantly, not in neurons!

What are your thoughts on the copper atoms that activate cytochrome c oxidase (and all.oxodase enzymes) requiring ceruloplasmin to act as the transport mechanism? Was there any discussion as to how to prevent ceruloplasmin-bound copper from becoming a rate limiter, thus limiting copper availability to 40 quadrillion mitochondria? Also, given that ATP doesn't work without a magnesium attached to it, was there any concern that a food supply based on NPK and mineral chelating pesticides (glyphosate chelates copper to a pH of 1), and other copper and magnesium blockers could result in exponentially growing mitochondrial dysfunction, which would lead to increased oxidative stress and inflammation?
Also, was there any discussion about the toxicity of adding metallic iron filings to the food supply as cytochrome c oxidase was being depleted of its copper, not to mention ferroxidase, which is also copper dependent. It regulates iron recycling in the human body by oxidizing ferrous iron i to ferric iron so transferrin can transport the iron back to the bone marrow.

@@wellnesspathforme6236 Thank you for the excellent reply! Very unusual for RUclips commentaries, for sure. Yes, copper, ferrous and then ferric iron are serious topics to consider regarding optimal activity of the four ETC enzyme complexes. The redox process of high energy electrons, especially in Complex I & III is the rate-limiting factor. And iron/copper play a key role.
Regarding the blood transport of iron and copper, the ferroxidase enzymes you mention, ceruloplasmin and hephaestin are keys to Mitochondrial function.

And finally ... The membrane potential of the mitochondrial membrane is abut twice as great as that of a large nerve fiber, amounting to over 200 milliVolts.
It’s easy to see that the American diet, one that is filled with omega-6 seed oils, let alone highly oxidized polyunsaturated oils, is going to be a huge problem for all kinds of tissues requiring large amount of ATP energy-brain, heart, kidney, liver and skeletal muscles.

That's an excellent question. I looked it up and found warnings regarding killing off essential bacteria. Note that I realize most "warnings" against anything that goes against the pharma industrial complex is agenda-driven so I take these warnings for what they're worth, but it's used in fish tanks which also require a balance of microflora just a we do. Here's one quote:
"Methylene Blue should not be used for prolonged exposure, or in permanent (main, display) systems, as it can/will kill off necessary beneficial bacteria."
I've learned that very few doctors or scientists really understand the microbiome so even if he says it" shouldn't be a problem" (in pt. 2) I'm not too quick to trust this evaluation. The doctor is very knowledgeable regarding neurological function but I wonder if long term use could contribute to other health issues, especially affecting the immune system, and this can also affect the brain. I understand if someone is suffering from advanced dementia or Alzheimers, or for short term use for an acute treatment (like a UTI - which BTW, homeopathic cantharis or Staphysagria are beyond amazing for human and animal UTI's). But general use might be trading one problem for a myriad of others down the road.

I've read quite a few testimonials that it has restored cognitive function, as well as energy, but these cases could be dependent on what caused the dysfunction to begin with and if the damage isn't beyond repair.

@@elenapavel5938 I use dropperful of MB in shot glass 1/2 full of water, I drink other water first, then I do MB&water shot against back of throat/tongue bypassing teeth, swallow, then chase with more fresh water, if some faint MB gets on teeth i swish with mouthwash then brush right away. I had heard dr gonzalez talk about changing MB to the clear form by combining with vitamin C in laboratory experiments with "Leuko-methylene blue" so maybe driniking a vitamin C drink/swish would help convert the blue stain to clear/white, but i didnt try that. then probably would want to rinse again after taking vitamin C (ascorbic acid) on teeth rinse. Dr Gonzalez had said that the leuco-MB was limited in function, so you dont want to change all your MB to leuco form before drinking it.

It seems clear that anything like methylene blue, that speeds up the mitochondria is going to age you faster, like engines running on high. Can anyone prove this wrong? I once knew a guy who had an allergic reaction to a dye used to image the kidney; he lost both. I do not know the name of that dye. However, are there allergic reactions to meth blue? Has anyone lost organs due to that?

I see how you think about this, but if that were true, then everybody on Thyroid medication would die an early death, and I'm on it for years and so has my best friend's roommate who is almost 80, and her mom is 96 and on thyroid as well, since she was age 24!. without the mitochondria working to make cells function, THAT is was causes fast aging. then again, remember, aging is what you want, because the alternative is death, baby!

@@loneranger7573 If something returns the system to efficiency that's one thing, but if it stimulates it excessively that's another. I do not think MB is useful unless there is oxygen deficiency. But, if a normal person takes it maybe it over-stimulates the cell, or at best does nothing.

Mitochondria provides energy for the cells. If your mitochondria are impaired you age and develope cancer etc.
      Think of mitochondria as batteries.
If your batteries are run down the machinery can not run.
Methylene blue provides electrons for electron transfer in the mitochondria.
      In effect fuel for mitochondria.
Like recharging your batteries instead of letting them burn out.

In 2019, scientists gave Alzheimer’s patients 8mg-16mg of methylene blue
daily while monitoring their brain function. They witnessed the methylene blue
treatment stop Alzheimer’s disease dead in its tracks.
      The study concluded that
methylene blue is expected to be therapeutic in doses up to 16mg, and patients
would see no additional benefit from taking higher doses. “Treatment benefit is
predicted to be maximal at 16mg/day as monotherapy,” the scientists reported.

I understand what you're saying & I don't like it much either, however, your thought process is somewhat neive, my Dear. So, if not animals, who should they "experiment" on then? Would you prefer the "thems" to experiment on you? Your family? Riddle me this Batman, how R the "theys" supposed to figure out how different things work in & on live tissue? Test it on dirt? on concreat maybe? NO! "They" have to test & experiment these things on animals B4 testing & giving it to us! Unless you'd prefer the "theys" to experiment on human infants, children & adults? Oh wait, maybe the "theys" can experiment on our elderly population instead of the animals.......🤔 they're getting ready to check up outta here soon anyway, right? Do you see how obsurd your comment is? I'm not against you, I'm just trying to point out the alternatives.......❤ Stay safe & healthy!
