this is how I remember doing it. however, the ea desktop isnt found in the compatdata folder. i checked with protontricks as well that its the right folder. however, i can find it in wine... though it doesn't work. the install just gives me an exclamation point with a red triangle around it.
You could try finding it via the konsole. Just type in find / -type d -name "EA Desktop" or if that doesn't work sudo find / -type d -name "EA Desktop"

I finally got EA Play to work on my Steam Deck OLED and I got one of my favorite games to work- Sims 4. However, I have a lot of DLC and a ton of mods for this game. I want to save space on the internal hard drive by moving it to a micro SD card. Is there a way to do this- WITHOUT BREAKING EA PLAY? Because man, getting the file pathways and the right proton to make it work took a LOT of time. It was very finicky. I figured out how to put mods in the game and which folders to put the mods into, which is a lot longer pathway than on a typical Windows computer! 😅How do I figure this out? I'm trying to find other videos about this but it's pretty specific so I'm struggling to find any sources. Would you be able to answer this question or do a video on it if you have time? If anyone else can answer, that would also be great! 😅😄

Games are always hit and miss with the Deck. Any with online capabilities is likely to have issues. Usually if it doesn't work, I'll add it into Steam and launch with a couple of different proton versions. If it still doesn't work, then I'll decide how desperate I am to play it on steam deck, and if I wanna search online for a solution.

As a general rule, if you've got the mindset of "X game probably won't work on Steam Deck", and then you're surprised when it does, you'll have a better experience with it

Press 'Steam' + 'X', that should bring up the keyboard, try in desktop mode if it still doesn't, but make sure you have steam running still. FC24 is gonna be a problem, competitive online games have a lot of anti cheat stuff which stop them working on none windows platform. I generally just play it on my Steam Deck streaming via Game Pass (I've a video for that too). You can get round the anti cheat stuff I believe if you look around on Reddit, but it's not something I've tried.
I installed the launcher and downloaded FIFA 22 - then the launcher crashed. I cant reopen it, where can i uninstall it and all the Game Files of fifa 22?

This worked great for me a few months ago. Now the app needs an update. Im not quite sure how to go about doing that. Id imagine I have to delete my old EA install, DL again and do all this again? And likely any time theres an EA update in the future...Or rebuy everything on Steam lol. God I loathe other launchers. THE only real issue I have with the Steam Deck.
The dot means it's a hidden folder, so you'll need to turn on hidden files. It should be covered in more detail in one of my other videos, playstation plus install I think covers it

Usually means it's an issue with forcing it to use proton, try a different proton version

Just highlight the location in the explorer bar and copy that

Before you finish up in the properties screen, ensure that the “TARGET” and “START IN” fields start and end with a double quote (")
For some reason when I copied the location the clipboard added "compatibility32", remove that as well, then it should work.

Try holding the steam button while inside the app. Then use the trackpad to move (mouse) and click.
I did everything in the video and EA worked fine. Then I did the path the same way for my Sims 3 Launcher.exe but it doesn’t open 😢 help?

I would have thought there'd be an uninstaller in the Fifs directory. Alternatively just delete that directory, that should get rid of most of it

Unfortunately it's trial and error with the Steam Deck. Some games will work with this method others wont

Yea they're such a pain, I usually rebuy on Steam if they're on offer. I always forget I even own the game otherwise

It won't be the same number, if it was the last thing you installed click the burger icon and sort by date and it should be the first or last folder
