    Woody our cancer is fatal, but if you can keep it stable and it is not effecting any of your organs and not having any pain then you are winning. You are doing great. I will take living with the cancer any day. Every day we do that we are definitely winning.

      I agree Peter, my pain is never going away due to the damage caused by the tumours in my spine but it's manageable, some days are good some not, but I'm alive and living and loving just being alive. 🙏❤️

    Woody. Your PSA level is decreasing? That is great news. Its not going up, so that is wonderful. Traces of cancer in your body? Well, as you know the hormone treatment does not kill prostate cancer, it only makes it go dormant for as long as the medication may be effective. So, you are doing well in my book. As you may recall, I too live from blood test to blood test. Your feeling anxiety is normal, however, it does not do any good. We are alive.

    Glad to hear that everything is stable Woody. Appreciating that is huge. Just taking it as it comes. We all have no control, and cannot predict the future, so best to be in the moment and appreciate what life has given us. Am going to ask my Dr about the new PSMA PET scans. Like you i've never had one. My hospital just got one a few years ago, and i understand it's an expensive test. Dr. Sholtz in the states says they are great at seeing minor changes, and can taylor the medication better using the PSMA PET SCANS. You're doing so well. Regards, Carl

      Hi Carle, we have a PET scan at Maidstone hospital, I was surprised after three years that was the first time I've had one. My wife recently had a cancer scare and she was given a PET scan straight away.
      They are expensive and when you have one you can see why.
      Keep going Carle and keep being positive 🙏❤️

      @@Livingwith-prostatecancer Thanks Woody. We have the best care here in the west. Good to know the PET scan is available to us when needed. I trust the system, but have learned to speak up since my last radiation session when they were going to target an area that had already been done 12 yrs ago. Interesting enough, the young lady who made my leg molds for radiation, had given me the info on what to expect when i went for radiation. This info contradicted the info i was given just before i went on the table. I was sent home on my first day because of the mix up. Point. Make friends with every single person you meet. They might just help you in more ways than you ever expected. She made my molds twelve years ago, and i remembered her name. Enjoy the weekend with your family mate. Regards Carl

    Good to hear about the PSA, Woody. Is there an option to zap the remaining cancer in the pelvis with radiation or have you hit your limit? Yes, stay positive and hopeful, and keep living life to the fullest.

      Hi, I cant have any more radiation in that area as it's the second time and even this was close to not being possible. I'm just grateful to get the second lot and then hoping it does it's stuff (very technical😀)
      All the best 👍❤️

    Nice one Woody, you looking and sounding good, Sounds like you getting great care in Kent, I will have been on hormone therapy 3 years this Easter, get a 6 month PSA, apart from initial 6 lots chemo at the beginning nothing , no scans, no lets have a look see how you doing , no lets check your bones or heart bearing in mind hormone side effects on these things, makes me wonder about post code lottery care. Stay well Woody keep your power of the mind thoughts coming Phil

      Hi Phil
      As long as your PSA is behaving itself I think they tend to leave you alone.
      My scans have been every 6 months but that's probably because the cancer has metastasised
      I guess they have different ideas on how to treat it, I never had chemotherapy.
      Keep fighting buddy 👍❤️🙏.

    Hi Woodie
    Have you had any second generation hormones yet?
    Newer (second-generation) anti-androgens
    Enzalutamide (Xtandi), apalutamide (Erleada), and darolutamide (Nubeqa) are newer types of anti-androgens. They can sometimes be helpful even when older anti-androgens are not.
    Any of these drugs can be helpful in men with cancer that has not spread but is no longer responding to other forms of hormone therapy (known as non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (nmCRPC)).
    Any of these drugs can also be used for metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC) (cancer that has spread but that is still responding to other forms of hormone therapy).
    Enzalutamide can also be used for non-metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (nmCSPC) that appears to have come back after treatment based on a high PSA level (a biochemical recurrence), and that is thought to be at high risk for spreading to other parts of the body.
    Enzalutamide can also be used for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC).

      Hi Ian
      I've been on Enzultamide for three and a half years now, the doctors are happy to keep me on it for as long as possible.
      I suppose we are fortunate in having alternatives when the time comes when the drug no longer works.
      There are more drugs being developed all the time.
      My oncologist is quite excited about the possibilities in the future for us Prostate Cancer patients.
      🤞👍🙏❤️

    Why wasn't it found d sooner prostate cancer isn't normally terminal ive known loads of people who had had surgery and had the prostate removed and the chemotherapy but lived 😮

    • @Livingwith-prostatecancer
      @Livingwith-prostatecancer  7 дней назад

      @myahowlett6995
      That's the million dollar question ,why wasn't it found earlier.
      Some people have no symptoms and only find out when it's at stage four.
      Myself, I was in terrible pain but after a prostate examination they just said it was sciatica , no blood test just a rectal exam.
      I've found out since that the rectal exam often misses prostate cancer.
      There are many of us who have a terminal diagnosis , if it's caught early it can be fully treated, if not as In my case we just live hoping the drugs will keep us alive for as long as possible.
      I try not to think of what if I was given a blood test earlier would it have made a difference, I doubt it but you never know.
      Every day's a second chance in my mind🙏❤️

    I believe once you get the PSA numbers to where you are, the cancer in your bones will gradually die. They feed off of the cancer in the prostate. So give it some time.

      @ I had cancer in my bones
      Once I got the PSA numbers down the cancer in the bones died. I had nothing else done
      I do get a shot every month to keep the bones strong
      Most men don’t actually die from the cancer but from keeping the T levels low which results in aging regarding the heart and bones

    Woody, did you get a PSMA CT scan? Would you believe that we don't have one of them in Northern Ireland! The most important scan for us Stage 4ers.

      I think the PSMA PET scan is only available at selective hospitals. If there is not a hospital nearby you can always travel outside your arae and pay for the scan yourself, money well spent in my opinion as it is by far the best scan available for stage 4 PC

      @jigglerjohn
      I did have a PET scan last year , they are very rare in the UK.
      It was my first PET scan I've had lots of MRIs bone and CT scans.
      In my case I needed a PET scan due to the rising PSA and to really make sure radiotherapy for the 2nd time was going to be possible.
      The PET scan is far more accurate at locating cancer cells.🙏❤️
