  • ResMed explains what causes people to snore and what happens if you stop breathing in your sleep. Snoring can be caused by temporary factors including sedative use, alcohol, seasonal allergies, swollen tonsils and even your sleeping position. Snoring can also be caused by excess weight, particularly around the neck and the shape of your nose and jaw. Snoring can also indicate a much more serious condition, obstructive sleep apnea or OSA which can have serious health implications.

    Thank you for uploading such an informative video and with clear instructions. Snoring can affect even a person's self esteem and to be with people around them. It's not that easy when people judge you too.

    My husband snore so loud and he won't go to doctor to fix it. He'd rather sleep on the sofa. We're just 6 months married. Him snoring ruins my married life.

    It's making my gf go crazy and I'm still looking for a way to get rid of it. It's hard to deal with something you do while unconscious :/

      Hello Tomas, We'd strongly recommend disussing this with your doctor or qualified healthcare provider. They can help you in determining the cause for your snoring and potential options to help mitigate it so can both enjoy a more restful sleep.

    Snoring is caused by airway being blocked.

    Nice video, isn't CPAP machine another form of treatment?

    • @ResMed
      @ResMed  Год назад

      Thank you for asking and for the compliment on the video. We're glad you enjoy it. Snoring can be caused by a number of issues. While CPAP therapy often does reduce or eliminate snoring, this isn't always the case. In most cases, snoring is caused by a partial obstruction of the airway. Since CPAP therapy works to prevent complete obstructions, using a CPAP machine may also prevent partial obstructions, which can stop snoring in most cases, but not all. If you find that it hasn't improved your snoring issue, we'd recommend reaching out to your doctor or healthcare supplier to discuss additional treatment options.

    But the question wasn't answered: why do we snore? Does anyone here know? Is there a 'scientific' purpose to snoring?
