I love this for him, the man bought his house to display, admire and enjoy his vast lifelong collection of his artifacts.... that's someone living the dream right there.
I love the way he sighs and sounds bored and jaded, but you begin to realise he's anything but. A most interesting man indeed, and a sensational home. 😁👌❤️
I'm glad you brought light to the very same idea I had been having. I had to question, is he yawning thru this? I'm less than six minutes in and am getting frustrated by his clear boredom of having to do this. I WANT to see home, I think it's gorgeous, but if it's too much of a bother...🤷 Thank you for your kind words, I'll keep going! 😁👍👍
@Bradlykins some people have health conditions that requirethem to talk in this way; a requirement for more air than average. I don't know if that's the case here, but I don't get the sense this is a man who gets bored when talking about his amazing home.
I'm so glad that people like him still exist in this country; what a treat to meet him and his amazing home. Betty of course is the final sweet touch. I collect antique Chinese porcelain and was tempted to crawl up his walls!
Houses like this is why i watch Homeworthy, and people like this who love their animals and work hard to make lives better for other animals is so inspiring and wonderful! Charming human, charming cat, charming home ❤
I want to sit and just listen to Michael talk about his life and his love for antiques, home decor and just listen to anything else he has to say. What an interesting, fascinating man. Beautiful home , absolutely love it. Can we please see his farm. I am definitely going to Connecticut to see his store❤
An interesting homeowner and layout of the house. Can't say I'm a fan of animal skeletons but I get the structural thing. Now the gardens - the gardens! WOW! Huge fan of all that stonework, too - inside and out. Ingenious w/the apple trees; I've never seen that before. Swooning over the boxwoods. Fantastic style.
Michael reminds me of the actor Paul Sand. Not only do they physically resemble, but the cadence of their voice is similar as well. They both have that air of equal parts nonchalance and brilliance.
I absolutely love this video. How amazing would it be to have him as a friend. Michael is so interesting, talented , intelligent and has so many talents. I could listen to him all day. The pool is beautiful and very long. The barn is so full of history. Visiting him would be the best day.
Michael is evidently one of those persons who just has an eye for how to combine objects from different places and ages into an amazing result. What an amazing home - making dead plants and skeletons into something that is very much alive. The garden is one of the best I have seen. Adding to this, the recycling part of Michael’s work is truly genial and very much keeping pace with the times. Thanks Michael and Homeworthy!
Michael is one of those unique aesthetes that has the deepest connection with objects and materials from many cultures but it's outside in nature that he really in his element. His garden is wonderful and there's a great symmetry and simplicity in the planting. ❤
So interesting and wonderful. I could listen to him for days. He should have his own channel and write tons of books. The knowledge he has is immense and so interesting!
I absolutely love his home. H 0:55 is knowledge of all his antiques is beyond anything that I could ever imagine. It's one of my top favorites for sure. I will be watching this again.❤
Wow😮 Wow This is my favorite Homeworthy video of ALL time. I will be coming to visit you on my next trip to Connecticut. Some of my children, my grandchildren and many friends live in Connecticut. I will bring you something wonderful to eat and I will leave the grandkids at home. You have such vast knowledge and a wonderful philosophy on design and on life. ❤
I first saw a tour of Michael’s beautiful home and store on an episode of the Quintessence RUclips channel, which was really wonderful. But this more comprehensive and in depth tour is absolutely magnificent!!
What an incredibly gifted designer. I am in awe of his talent and drive to create these beautiful homes and gardens. Major bonus points for being a cat man too ;-)
I could spend forever in this home! its cozy and intriguing all at the same time the eye has so many places to rest and there is such beauty here.I love it thanks for this one!
A unique person and a unique home. Thank God we all aren’t clones of each other. Life would be so boring. I love people who are true to themselves. It definitely carries over into his aesthetic .
The more I watch, the more questions I have!! How on earth did he get some of the larger pieces in here? How did he hang everything on the walls?? His home is like a treasure chest of beautiful history, and I love it so much. Truly the most unique home I’ve ever seen!
I love the idea of having a property like that. I, too, have a maximalist aesthetic. The thought of having barns full of all of the wonderful things that I've collected right outside my door makes me giddy with glee. I used to live in New Preston, CT. Which is very close in proximity to where this video was made. Northwestern CT is one of the most beautiful areas on the east coast. Everyone should see it at least once. Especially in Autumn.
One of my favorite tours. I love the feeling of casual, collected, yet refined homes. I appreciate natural materials like the animal skeletons, dead/dried plants and sea remnants. Not many people can use those elements without it being creepy. I enjoyed his explanations of the history of the items. Thank you for sharing this home!
d'une grange il à fait un palais ,c'est le même esprit que Marie Antoinette et son hameau à Versailles ,crée la surprise l'inattendu ,susciter l'émotion Bravo ,.C'est une grande réussite
What a wealth of knowledge this man has. Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. I’m constantly amazed at the vast array of talent in humans, from design to skilled arts. Just incredible.
While this is visually overwhelming for me, I do appreciate Michael's passion to collect, display and showcase his collections. I will have to view this video several times to take it all in. And he looks very happy and comfortable in the midst of it all -- and isn't that what home is all about? Thank you for sharing your home ! And how adorable is Betty?
Love the tour of this home and all the history and artifacts that went into the layers of the furnishings. Truly amazing finds from ships and days many centuries ago.
I have seen this house before, and I’m always amazed how this talented man can put all his different collections together and make it look stylish and not just hoarded. I hadn’t seen the gardens before. They are amazing!❤
Amazing, endearing, wonderful representation of things to love and how they might be loved. A prime example and inspiration for Homeworthy worthiness ❤❤❤
A spectacular house! Just the sort of eclectic collection I admire. The poor man sounded exhausted! He had probably been up all night working and catching up on things! Grateful for the tour! Thank you for the video!
I spent all day visiting this, taking breaks for mandatory chores and to think about what I was seeing, and research things that were new to me. First I was consumed by ardent envy; all that space! A treasure Barn! The multitude of ship-wreck early Chinese bowls and platters dazzling the walls of the keeping room! The Blue Stone and timber floors! Then...Betty was introduced, and the fact of brushing her twice a day (we are similarly employed here, only their names are Bonnie and Ramona), and the very real work and dedication of raising funds in aid of "The Little Guild"...So that I now have ardent admiration for someone with a great ❤big heart and caring nature that matches their good eye and the size and breadth of these gathered collections
Your collection is marvelous, there is never too much to show Case what you love , and putting everything together in its place it’s beautiful, Thank you sharing your home.
Such an interesting & extraordinary collection/home! Very beautifully designed. So much love and attention to detail in this home and how interesting he must be!
Michael, you are so interesting. I love your stories connected with your wonderful collecting and where you found the treasures. Write a book. You must have made connections around the world, with wonderful people. Thank you, Nelle Ferrara
To express how exceptionally refreshing and inspiring your home both inside and outside, is very difficult with words. I have watched and watched re-watched this episode about a dozen times over the last few days. Keep being the amazing soul that you are and hopefully inspiring others to be creative and follow their own path with the things they love and find beautiful. A great many cheers. Eric.
WOW....he had a major job to bring this home back from the brink. Love how he did it all for his art and antiques that he has collected....and of course for Betty....what sweet old girl!!! Thanks for the tour of his very curated and art filled home!!
Bless him for the rad trans-formation!......although Trapp's style is not quite Tom Britt's shabby cheap eclectic but rather a facsimile close to bargain basement Macy's closeouts.
Absolutely incredible! Love the host and all his beautiful finds! He’s a talented man with a wealth of knowledge and talent! I’d love to be his friend or to even be invited to his home would be a honor. 😊 You can certainly see he has a zest for life and enjoys his finds. Bravo, bravo!!!❤

Thanks for writing it down, I was totally dumbfounded too by the contrast of his demenaour and what he built and created.
Are there words to use here? This was so entertaining and inspiring and brilliant…an absolutely one of a kind gentleman and his home!
I'm so glad that people like him still exist in this country; what a treat to meet him and his amazing home. Betty of course is the final sweet touch. I collect antique Chinese porcelain and was tempted to crawl up his walls!

Love these type of homes you showcase the most! He faded away the walls and made his home a work of art that embraces his soul! Stunning!
I think this is the most fabulous thing I ever seen.
OMG!
It IS a "comfortable museum"! 🩷
I can't imagine having the kind of creativity, vision & perseverance to make such a home & treasure.
I want to sit and just listen to Michael talk about his life and his love for antiques, home decor and just listen to anything else he has to say. What an interesting, fascinating man. What a man and collection. I love this place. The patina of age just envelopes me in the most comforting way. Gorgeous!
What a delight! His home is like an incredible museum.
A learned man. A treat for those of us intrigued by the ancient world.
Pure joy to watch Michael ‘show and tell’ his beautiful creations and belongings ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

This gentleman is a total treasure!! Beautiful home !
The knowledge this guy has is mind blowing.

That was a wonderful tour through your world I loved every single minute of it Im so inspired, ...I
This house reminds me a bit of Furlow Gatewood's house. Amazing collections.
I would love to see the gardens and homes he designs, MORE MORE!
Absolutely STUNNING home & business!
So inspiring, I love the mix of good quality. I need some tiles for my kitchen walls, great idea.
I could spend forever in this home! its cozy and intriguing all at the same time the eye has so many places to rest and there is such beauty here.I love it thanks for this one!
Very eccentric decor. Homeowner is truly one of a kind. And he says most of the pieces inside the house are from the 1400's, 1500's, 1600's....hmmm.
This is so amazing. I would love to meet this man. So interesting and the beauty is overwhelming. I am in love with this home❤
A unique person and a unique home. Thank God we all aren’t clones of each other. Life would be so boring. I love people who are true to themselves. It definitely carries over into his aesthetic .
Love this home. Michael is so talented, he really has an eye. Gertrude Vanderbilt was a very talented sculptor and heiress she could afford to be.😉
Paradise..would love to see it. I like that the exterior is plain and then voila..inside
I love the way this man thinks. I wish I knew him personally. He would be a great friend. He’s so inspirational and interesting.
I love this guy! He knows everything! Thanks for this tour- truly original!
The more I watch, the more questions I have!! How on earth did he get some of the larger pieces in here? How did he hang everything on the walls??
His home is like a treasure chest of beautiful history, and I love it so much. Truly the most unique home I’ve ever seen!
I want to know how much it cost, especially the life-size wall plaster. I just wonder....what do you think?? $80,000??
It’s giving Ms. Havisham vibes and I’m here for it
Nobody ever has cried when walking into my house. 🤭Very inspirational, delightful tour. Love his big ❤ for animals.
Thank God he's doing this otherwise so many world treasures would be lost to time.

Stunning items. I love this house and the owner’s decorating philosophy. 💕
My big take away from this... I love the way he nonchalantly walks around his property. I also love his take on beautiful items.

Bravo, bravo!!!❤
Everything this gentleman shows is amazingly beautiful. Unique and excellent!
I learned so much. Michael, keep collecting & saving history's treasures! The land ❤
Gotta find my way to his shop.
This is beyond extraordinary ❤️😍
It feels like something from Europe. Beautiful. Maybe a little too rustic for me, but, I’take it over anything modern.
OMG! Stunning
