The reason why they were taking the humans was SUCH a mind blower. I remember me and my friends looking back on older seasons and looking for any other potential hints to future plot lines.

@@shiny5068 well , thats just for you , most people would be too invested to what’s actually going on then to pay attention to dialogue like that and considering shes a gem , most people would also assume thats just her way of talking since she’s a gem , like how back on Homeworld they’d i say “I saw *a* Peridot” , so yes , it was a mindblower.
i remember at first when aquamarine mentioned peridot, i thought it meant peridot had betrayed them and i got so scared lmfao
I remember that moment, and for me it didn't happen when aquamarine stated it in the finale. A reactor I watched put it together in an earlier episode and the "OH SHIT" moment I had was insane
The two times my jaw dropped in this show:
-Ruby and Sapphire first reunite as Garnet (despite the numerous clues that Garnet's a fusion; Also when Garnet officially became my favorite character in fiction)
-The list of human variations requested by Yellow Diamond that were specified in...a flashback from "Marble Madness" 😱
Steven was acting dehydrated in the episode they found Lion too, "this... is how... you're supposed to... act... in the desert."

Aquamarine is the reason why I love high class gems she can be so cute looking yet probably the scariest villain in this series like she was casually spitting murder 💀 and Navy hands down was a whole meme when it was revealed she was a psychopath.
An aquamarine, saphire, and lapis lazuli combination would be lethal
Her bow has zero-point energy like Syndrome in The Incredibles. That is OP! I remember wondering how strong the diamonds could possibly be.

When Steven Universe revealed that Lars was an insecure Filipino kid, his entire character kind of clicked into place. That’s just for me, though. Being an insecure Filipino kid myself.
All of that insecurity felt a hell of a lot more real. And being scared to bring ube to the party-ouch.
Wow, that didn't click for me, having never been exposed to Filipino culture. That makes me so much more sympathetic towards Lars!
I always found it interesting that steven went kind of crazy looking for his purpose because we know that gems do kind of go crazy when they can't do what they're made for. Seeing steven like this kind of reminded me of how pearl acted after rose died. She had no idea what to do with herself.
An explanation for Lars' behavior (Note, not an *excuse* for his behavior): we learn waaaaay back in Island Adventure that Lars obviously has some kind of anxiety; Mr. "Do you ever get lonely, even when you're around other people?" and we learn in the flashback in Horror Club that he has been too keyed into what other people think from a young age (Ronnie: Why do you care so much about how other people think?!? Lars: You wouldn't say that if you knew what other people said about you!). Lars is a socially anxious weenie that just can't allow himself to be whoever he is in public, which is what causes most of the strain in his relationship with Sadie, as evidenced by her saying that he's "one way in public, and another in private" with/around her in The New Lars. I get why people don't like him for this but man, this boy needs some therapy.
As for running away from Topaz as Sadie was yelling for help? Put yourself in Lars' shoes, tell me you would not look at that brick of a Gem and shit your pants at the thought of having to tangle with that (especially after you have already been trapped inside a fusion of it for several hours). I don't blame him is all I'm saying

@@Error_-ct2vp respectfully disagree. I don't love him but he's a fascinating character to watch because he's just a mess of a teenager. Watching his and Sadie's relationship unfold, for me at least, was interesting because of how messy it was, it felt real. Like yeah, I know we're more focused on the Gems but I like that the humans also had depth, made Beach City feel alive.

Honestly Lars freezing up is understandable, but running away... I mean it's also part of the fight/flight/freeze response but it's harder to excuse leaving friends behind.
Especially after Sadie literally pushed him out the way, then reached for him

oh my god, these episodes were INSANE to experience at the time. the entire fandom blew up when we saw topaz and all that crazy shit happened, from this point onwards we all knew the show was getting more serious. 10/10 arc.

Lars acting so piggish and mean is honestly kind of the reason most men act that way. It's not always some trauma, or being taught such things by a bad parent. We don't talk about it as often as other issues, but we lowkey pressure men to act this way. Forcing them to be "tougher" or not be "crybabies" as well as a bunch of other pressures cause them to have this constant anxiety on if they're acting the way they feel they SHOULD be. And it leads to an inability to confront their emotions in a healthy way. The worry of being seen as lame for loving things and people is a real issue. And it's one that can be really hard for men to unlearn. It doesn't excuse their behavior, obviously, but it means that it might be more effective for people to handle guys like that a little differently, to let them know there's nothing wrong with being kinder.

That term means that they've dropped a certain amount of episodes(especially when it gets to the story) and we have to wait SO LONG for the other sets of episodes to air.

That movie cover is a Reference to the movie "Ghost" with the late Patrick Swayze, the scene its alluding to is when is when he was helping his former lover with a ceramics piece as a ghost. Not predatory at all.

Fun fact: their is a theory with the whole steven and Nora thing where Rose was actually pregnant with twins but learned that due to her having to give her gem/life to give birth she could only have one child and she ended up choosing steven in the end.

were almost the end of the series (besides the movie and future)
no spoilers, but i just wanted to say something that may lessen some confusion and dissatisfaction you may feel later on in the show.
steven universe is not a story about war (i do think the show could be better at telling this to the audience btw). a lot of the conflicts are very big and life-threatening, but the gems are never on the brink of war. the gems don't strategize or make big moves, they just try to live happily and keep the peace. there *was* the gem war, but it happened 5000 years ago. unlike other shows like AOT or ATLA, the war is already over. the war is instead used by the show as this trauma that everyone in the show experienced and is still grappling with. every gem's story (and i mean every) can be related to a very real, understandable, and human, experience.
pearl struggles with grief, amethyst struggles with being "defective", lapis struggles with betrayal, peridot struggles with indoctrination/manipulation, steven struggles with expectations/identity, etc. these were caused by the war, but can be experienced in other contexts. no arc in this show is defined by war, it just uses war as a metaphor for trauma.
steven universe is not about war, it is about love and healing, and every character is treated with these values. just keep this in mind as the show progresses :)
i was confused about it too when i was watching the show, it's only because of people online looking back on the show that made me realize this.
That doesn't change the diamonds' atrocities that the show went out of it's way to show. The show built these DICTATORS up to be vile and despicable beings that started war purely because they wanted to keep expanding their empire at the cost of innocent lives (No spoilers here since they have already made this clear). (Also after I described it that way, it makes me think of current world issues... huh.)
I guess the show is more about the effects OF a war

It is human nature to choose yourself over anyone else in a split second reaction,but I still am judging Lars because I know without a doubt I would have never left a friend in a deadly situation. If I had been Lars I would have fought like hell for Sadie, my tiny, weak self would have fought with all the ferocity of a puppy but I still wouldn't have abandoned her.
idk its easy to say something like that but when actually faced with some gem you dont know, that youve been trapped in for hours (sometimes even covering mouth so its hard to breathe) and know you have a 0% chance to win that fight it would be a bad idea to stay
