OK, People who buy these louvers, here are two extra steps that will make this a largely painless install that you won't have to immediately go and fix: 1) BUY ADHESION PROMOTER. 3M sells this, and it is advisable that you not only coat the brack BEFORE you put the double sided tape on, but you also thoroughly clean your window with neutral alcohol and then treat the area also with adhesion promoter. 2) SEAL YOUR BRACKETS. Whether you use Gorilla Glue tape or the included 3M tape, you MUST seal them with RTV clear silicone to ensure that your brackets stay waterproof and in turn don't end up peeling. As a final note, something that few videos and none of the included instructions clue you in on: All adhesives need cure time in order to properly bond to its surface. Guess what injures that process: putting your heavy louver onto the car and screwing it into the mounts before the adhesion has properly cured. In fact, as you see in the video, the resistance of the louver was pulling the double sided tape up even before it had time to cure. Mount the brackets ONE DAY before screwing in the louver for good. Let the adhesive have time to cure and you will get the absolute best results.
Hey there, could you explain step #2 a bit more in detail? I'm not sure what you mean by "seal the brackets." Should be coated in silicone after they're mounted to the glass and cured but before you attach the louvers?
I just purchased this. I used cleaning solution first, then ido alcohol, then i purchased aluminum brackets, instead of the plastic ones that comes with kit. I then marked with painters tape where brackets lay on windshield. I then put adhesive promotor on windshield and on aluminum plate. I used gorilla tape, double sided instead of the cheap tape. I finished off by putting a bead of silicon around each bracket. Im letting sit for afew days before i put louvers on I hope this does the trick
@AmericanMuscleDodge hey Zach I would love an autographed picture of you and the guys from American muscle. Just to frame and hang in garage. Any chance you guys do this?
I just put these on my Challenger. So far so good in the hot Florida sun. I did use 3M 4298UV Adhesion Promoter on both the glass and the metal brackets, and made sure the glass was super clean.
I recently put these on my Challenger. I am not 100% positive yet, but I think the self dimming rearview mirror no longer dims. Maybe the louvers block out just enough light to keep the mirror from dimming? Anyone else notice this?
I just recently ordered this exact louver and have received my order but while inspecting it, there are missing pieces. No 3M tape, no adhesion promoter and no alcohol wipes. Lol. What do I do?.
@@NeverDauntedRadioNetwork they are sticking fairly well with different tape, with the exception of one clip due to not form fitting the window lower left. My black bolts rusted within two eeeks, had to paint them

Finally someone gives an angle of view standing back from the car, thank you. 👍
Right?. I've been thinking how it would look.
@@vernjay2661 I looked and looked lol. Every video showed nothing but close up views, this was the only one that showed the entire car
@@projectm4181 yep it did. Haha. I think if you want to show a mod video, you should be able to show it from all angles. Lol

How bout you put those foam pieces on before installing on the back window??
why does it appear as it sticks up on the bottom right corner of the louver?
Just installed mine hopefully they hold up
Great install, do you take the louver up to the edge of the rear window?

Sounds like the louvers won't be going anywhere. Thanks for watching! -Zach

Does it help to wipe your greazy finger on it after the alcohol prep?

How does this hold up to high speeds and heat? I live in AZ so my windshield is gonna be pretty hot all the time pretty much
Feel like the heat would actually help melt the tape into the windshield for more adhension
Same..I also live in AZ and I'm hoping it won't give me any issues.

My brackets are loose. Don't know of this is supposed to happen, but I would think they would be tighter
How does one clean the exterior rear window with the louver installed?
The bottom right seems warped. But that aside it looks fantastic
Literally all my screws that are part of the 3M pads, are stripped. Can I get replacements, please?
Mine too, what trash!

You’re 100% right, the louvers are intended to add style, reduce glare, and keep the car's interior cool. So now you’re basically protected twice.
Ive never noticed

Not going to include the glue protector.
Can u post me one for my x type jaguar plz
Very simple installation, until 3M gets involved. The red adhesive covering destroys the adhesive patch. I'm hoping my louvers stay on the window
Seal your brackets with RTV Silicone.

@@althompson8999 I’ve had rusted bolts too. I started using washers underneath and it’s gotten better.
@@althompson8999 I replaced the metal nuts which are prone to rusting with nylon ones. They are metric M5-0.08 size.
@@NeverDauntedRadioNetwork mine rusted and broke off almost immediately
What do you use the promoter pen on? Glass? Plates? Please be specific! :)
U use it on the glass. Righting the spot ur gonna place the sticky plate part.
I used it on both.
I broke mine trying to readjust it
All fun and games until they don't tell you to use the adhesive promoter on the back of the brackets and you try to remove the 3M tape
why dont you people ever show the use of thr primer????
They don't use the primer because they aren't going to leave the louvers on, it's just a demo install. They should mention this.
What’s the purpose
Life, right..?
For style of course . And to keep the interior cool during hot days. Come on it is common sense, if you have one.
The looks and it blocks out almost all of the overhead sun without blocking the rear view too much.
First time it rains or car wash that louber is flying off.
Not a windshield
Correct - these are louvers! 😁 -Zach
Love the look but can't even imagine how much of a pain in the ass it is to clean the window
