Building the Backyard Discovery Delray Pergola was an incredibly exciting and rewarding DIY project that I highly recommend to anyone looking to enhance their outdoor living space. With the help of the Build App and by following the detailed instructions provided, I was able to create a stunning pergola that transformed my backyard into a picturesque oasis.
From the very beginning, I could feel the excitement building up as I unpacked the pergola kit. The high-quality materials and sturdy construction immediately instilled confidence in the project. The instructions were clear, concise, and easy to follow, which made the entire building process enjoyable.
One of the standout features of this project was the Build App, which proved to be an invaluable tool. With the app, I had access to step-by-step video tutorials, 3D models, and interactive diagrams that simplified the construction process. It provided a visual aid that made it easier to understand each stage of the assembly, ensuring I didn't make any mistakes along the way.
As I dedicated time to building the pergola, I found the experience to be both educational and satisfying. It allowed me to tap into my creative side while honing my DIY skills. From measuring and leveling to drilling and fastening, every step felt like a small victory as I witnessed the pergola taking shape.
The Delray Pergola itself is a thing of beauty. With its elegant design and sturdy structure, it added a touch of sophistication to my backyard. The pergola provided an inviting and comfortable space for outdoor gatherings, family meals, or simply relaxing in the shade. It quickly became the focal point of my outdoor living area, garnering compliments from friends and family.
Overall, I can confidently say that building the Backyard Discovery Delray Pergola was an exceptional experience. The excitement, the sense of accomplishment, and the stunning end result made it all worthwhile. I highly recommend this DIY project to anyone who wants to elevate their outdoor space and create a beautiful, functional pergola that they can be proud of.

Thanks for the video. I just bought the same pergola at Sam's Club, it was on clearance.

Same here. How much did you get it for and where are you from? I got mine for $647 in Houston. Not sure how I'm going to put it together though. It's only myself. I also want to install the thin polycarbonate.

One other method would be to add a diagonally cut 2x6x12 pressure treated cedar joist on top of the pergola joists before the furring strips. This would provide more support for the roofing and make it look streamlined from below. Thin polycarbonate is ok in the southern states. In states with snow a more durable material (e.g. metal or polycarbonate twin walled panels) would be needed.

Did you end up putting silicone along the connection to the house roof line like you speculated? Is it holding against the rain?

Thanks for the comment! I ended up installing rain gutters for the whole back of the house which was a better idea. Since the rain now slides down easier. The pergola is holding up great. Thanks again for your questions.

One thing you did not mention is...at what point you put those black shoes or base on the columns?? because in the beginning when you were assembling the sides, you did not have them on. In fact, when all four columns were already standing, that black base on the columns were not installed yet. Then, they suddenly appeared.

I assume this will void the warranty, will these hold the weight of the additional roofing structure.

Can this be done by one person?

Some things segments can be build by one person, but sometimes you need another person to hold one part while you do other things. I had my brother help me at times because I couldn’t do it everything alone.
