I got my dad these shoes for Father’s Day, and he started crying because he wanted these when he was a kid but couldn’t afford them. He had a really rough childhood. But he gave up drinking when I was a kid, that’s a real man right there.
By the way. The longer tongue is folded over your tied laces when playing futbol to get a more even contact with the ball upon impact.

thats why i call the sambas; the greatest silhouette of all time. over 35 millions pairs sold worldwide since 1949. how great is that. and to be honest I notice especially in the common wealth countries sambas are darn popular over dunks jordans.
This was a staple a lot like Chuck's and Jack Purcell's.
After the cycle, Stan's was hyped several years back, Promodels and superstars as well, it's now Sambas turn in the limelight

I've had the same pair of sambas for the last 6 years, love them, it was just funny to accidentally slip into being on trend. All the students I work with definitely think I'm cooler than I actually am because of these.
They’re trending bc they’re clean, old school, and they’re a classic silhouette. But the main reason is that they’re cheap and very affordable. They’re trending bc the price is right! I used to wear these in college and I would buy the Indoor Soccer version of these sambas bc they were durable too for playing in. I used to buy the limited edition version of these with different soccer teams. They were solid shoes. Still own a few pairs till today lol

Hey, Chris. Some football shoes use to have that bending tongue to cover the laces in order to provide precision and comfort to shooting. Nowadays most shoes just have the laces to the side.
Hi Chris! The Samba, Gazelle, Handball Spezial, Puma Palermo and GV special (and other shoes) where knows as the casuals or terrace trend that the football fans use to use on the 70s in UK.
At that time all that’s shoes where like the OG Jordan’s now (or something like that) and now Adidas and Puma are bringing back this trend I believe because Nike didn’t exist at that time so the can’t compite with any shoe
I got my first pair in 2015 and have been in love ever since. They just work with everything. These are my panda dunks. 😂
In early 2000 (if im not mistaken) they were regular issuse sneakers for millitary inlisted personal in our country (back in the day we have that ). For exercise and stuff like that. Cos they were dirt cheap and pretty much indestructible. Still. I love it. Its a classic like Superstar, or Chucks
I have had the Made in Germany OG pair with the big tongue from years ago. One of the best quality shoes I have.

Fun fact: The long indoor soccer version. That tongue can be adjusted because of the ridges of the tongue. You basically apply pressure to that ridge tongue and it starts to bend lower to the shoe and that is how you lower your tongue. These versions are the OG but the tongue has been modify for the modern consumer and / sport style shoe.
I'm 43 years old and these have always been a dad shoe. Funny to see how they are being hyped now!

@@kaushalsuvarna5156 Not sure, I've never had this particular pair. But generally, I think the old skool Adidas' are flat with a slight arch at the heel, so probably not very comfortable if you are used to Nike air or Adidas Boost etc
In England these are worn by everyone and have been ever since I can remember. Very solid shoes

had the black and white pair as a kid, for indoor soccer use in '96 and i remember them killing my feet then lol.
In 2005 I have samba black and stripes white it look so cool and unique .thanks for reminder me i want to buy again.
I also think Tom DeLonge from Blink-182 who got back together may have helped push the Samba as Tom used to rock them and brought them back this last tour.

In the 1970s , my sambas were totally indestructible. Used the Rom through PE college and as a PE teacher used the adidas Natase or Stan Smith and still tough quality shoes. I always chose adidas first. Best shoes/football boots and hockey astros I’ve used. Running shoes and spikes good workhorses! Now a retired PE teacher and still wearing adidas!!!
Chris You should Compare the OG vs the Long tounge version. That has more of a "performance" like different insoles.
It's so simple and comfortable, I've bought 3 pairs about 3 yrs ago.
these are just the classic timeless shoes that have caught fire this year cause of its timeless look, people are tired of shoes that look wild as hell that are also not gonna last they just need a piece that’ll last a bit and a good plus is these are pretty affordable and durable as well

There are low profile boost-like insoles that you can replace the stock Adidas and the comparison is like night and day. No lingering pain especially if you do long distance or all day walks.
We have been using them in the soccer community to play indoor for ever. If you to a soccer game you will see them.

Well after watching this video couple of days ago, I did get one pair of the OG, I got it on sale, I got it in my usual size 43, and Hella yeah lengthy but right snug, don't expect soft ride in this, just little harder than neutral. What typically the basic cup sole shoe. 😅 But does feel great good for everyday, better than my kobe 8's that I wear everyday allday😂
Hi Nightwing fun fact on the original Adidas Samba the original variant of the Samba was a old school high top soccer/association football cleats/boots originally made from a rock hard Kangaroo Leather upper though the gum sole was originally made for ice surfaces for the winter in Germany it ended up debuting in the 1950 FIFA World Cup in Brazil which is how it got its name “Samba” the 1950 World Cup in Brazil was one of the most dramatic and anticipated World Cup tournaments in the 93 year history of the World Cup out of the now 22 World Cups ever played this was the 4th edition of the FIFA World Cup and at the time the first since France 1938 World Cup 12 year hiatus due to WWII in the end Uruguay beat Brazil in the de facto final 2-1 making it one if not the biggest upset in World Cup history the win (Uruguay’s 2 title and to date last) was so unexpected it’s known as the Maracanazo name after the venue of the game the Estadio Maracana/Maracana Stadium after the shocking defeat the Brazilian Government declared a time of mourning and many people sadly passed from reason I’m not going to say but you can guess

Last year I saw all of photo and tie in advertisements everywhere about samba. This phenomenon is the good example that Brand make you feel this is trend.
I worked in sports retail in Australia between 2000-2011, and the Adidas Samba & Adidas Samoa always sold out.
Nice leather & goes well with jeans, can’t go wrong …..except larger sizes than a 13usa.
If you’re ever in the mood for a comparison, especially since you love skate shoes… pick up a pair of the Samba ADV. The skate version is better in every way. Materials, padding, comfort, construction. The ADV kills it, and looks exactly the same on foot.
I love the sambas and gazelles. I’ve worn them since high school, and I think they will look good forever. Supremely wearable.

Believe it or not these are solid basketball shoes, use to hoop in these . Fantastic traction, kinda like a proto Kobe 8
The long tongue is to protect the front part of your ankle when you kick the ball hard. -coming from someone who plays soccer.
If you’re wearing ankle socks and don’t have the tongue, kicking the ball starts to sting after a while
The long football tongue is for protecting your your angel top of foot as that is where you usually kick the ball
I’ve been wearing this sneaker since I was 13 (23 now) I even used them for indoor football. Funny how they’re trendy now. Great shoe overall

I think the fold down tongue is supposed give you a cleaner strike on the ball so that the knot in the laces cause the ball to change direction. Could be wrong though...I don't play soccer/futbol.

I am planning to buy samba from US. My nike and asics sports shoe size is UK9. My Air force 1 size is UK 8.5 Shall i buy UK8.5 or UK9 samba size ?

I had one in 2011. For some reason, it was too snug and the material was very stiff. It hurts a lot while wearing them.

I used to wear these shoes and skate shoes from wall the way till my last year in HS. 1996-2008, with homemade skinny jeans. Skinny jeans weren’t a thing at retail stores at the time… 😒
