When he talked about repressed memories, I had one myself. A few years back my English teacher had us a free day. I was listening to Ghost Train from season 2. The person in front of me asked what I was listening to. replied Ghost Train, from season two of Thomas. They told me to grow up but, I told them to listen to it. After about the first half was done, the person was impressed and sort of spooked. I think of this memory now as a slice of life.
Congratulations on making it into the documentary. I hope the Thomas fandom becomes more normalised in future.
Thomas was the first thing I was ever into. I don’t know when, but I’ve been into the franchise since as long as I can remember.
I had all the toys, watched most of the DVDs and shows, read many books, and I went to Thomas Land as an annual event.
I followed the series mildly as I got older, about 2018 I thought I was finally too old for Thomas (that and BWBA angered me). However, during lockdown I discovered that Thomas had an adult fandom and an internet presence, and now my childhood pops up every once in a while and reminds me of simpler times.
I was really hoping to see it at NYC, but the tickets are sold out and I can't go and I will be watching it on Blu-Ray once it release's.
And about what you said at 4:35 is something that I've went threw as well. I remember when I was 9 my Mom said that I am too old for the merchandise and wanted me to stop watching the show and watch something else and when I was 11 or 12, I gave away all my merchandise and give it away to little kids who couldn't afford any of that stuff which heartbroken me intill this day and those toys met a lot to me as a kid. And I had classmates who would say that Thomas is a baby show and I'm too old for it. Well those ones who would say that need to mind their own business because a lot of people should know that Thomas is not just a kid show, it can be enjoyed by anyone.
Calling it a baby show with the AEG reboot is kinda reasonable, but Thomas was not like that before in the 1990's and people who say that need to learn that the way I see it and it associates with Autism people by any age. I have Autism myself and this is why I loved Thomas so much as a kid and still do intill this day.
I really need to properly get into the fandom. Thomas as a corporate IP is dying, but Thomas within the fandom is entering into a new age, where the fans who grew up with the show, who had their entire lives molded by this, are reaching the age where they have honed their creative skills to a truly professional level and are able to create content that rivals and sometimes even surpasses the original show and the original books. There are definitely quite a few fan series that would probably make the Reverend cringe at their lack of awareness of railway operating practices, but I think he would be proud of how many people his works have inspired to become a part of preservation and to love trains and railroads, and I think he would be proud of all the people he has inspired to tell their own stories..
Thank you so much for including some of my scenes in your review! What did you think of what I had to say in the film?
I found myself in the beginning of the video from the Edison Train show last year! I am excited I am featured in this video, even though briefly. However, same here, I cannot make the screening this Monday myself, nor am I barely able to go to the train show this year. I am sad about that. But very honored to be a part of this fandom, let alone this video.
they hold multiple greenberg great train and toy shows in edison each year, its not a one and done thing every year
I really do hope that the Thomas fandom lasts forever

This classic shortbread cookie recipe makes rich, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth press cookies using just 4 simple ingredients that you probably have in your pantry. They're easy to decorate and perfect for Christmas cookie plates.
Prep Time:

Cook Time:
10 mins
Total Time:
25 mins
Servings:

Yield:
2 dozen
Ingredients:
2 cups butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups all-purpose flour
Step 1: Gather all ingredients.
Step 2: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
Step 3: Beat softened butter and sugar together in a large bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
Step 4: Stir in vanilla; add flour and mix well until combined.
Step 5: Fill cookie press with dough and form cookies onto two ungreased cookie sheets, spacing them about 1 ½ inches apart. Bake until the edges of the cookies are just starting to turn golden brown, about 10 to 12 minutes.
Step 6: Remove the cookie sheets from the oven, and set them on a wire cooling rack for a few minutes. Then transfer the shortbread cookies to the rack to cool completely.
I’m so excited for An Unlikely Fandom
I how this gets a digital/physical release for people in the future to watch this great documentary.
Very solid review, Adam!
Looking forward to seeing you in the documentary next week. You'll be there in spirit.
Wished the Doc goes into the Japanese Thomas fans but knowing 2020 was a awful year… It would be nice to see Japan’s love on Thomas, now that it’s still popular.
I’m glad I’m in this fandom, I’ve never met one like it and tbh I love it
Amazing! I never thought I'd see you in it! I sadly never got to see it film, but I look forward to getting it on Blu-Ray
truly an unlikely moment

Great video, of how they shared they’re love for the little blue tank engine. Can’t wait to see the unlikely fandom.
I’ll be looking forward for getting the Blu Ray release
We are all together as a fandom, and we’ll be together till the very end.
You could've skipped school to go see it.
I mean school is kinda mid so why not ?
I'm glad you still got to see it despite not being able to go to the US. I'm in the UK and I won't be able to see the premiere. If you don't mind, and of course if you know, how can we all watch the documentary without going to the premiere? It sounds like such a nice thing to watch and I'd love to see it - but if there was a place to watch it online that would be good.
Its here!
I'm going to have to watch this documentary because it looks brilliant...
It *is* a little awkward in seeing certain members of SiF/Star Tugs Trust there given certain information about them but I suppose it can't be helped
IM IN FRICKIN' AMERICA WHY DIDNT I SEE YOU
Awesome man! Is there a way to view the production online? I can’t make the premiere.
