On Kutchatheevu, the Opposition has done a masterstroke by speaking about how Modi gifted 10,050 acres of Indian Land to Bangladesh in 2015. It reminds me of the masterstroke of attacking Lahore sector in response to attack on Chhamb sector in 1965. The Bangladeshi deal was 99% a congress deal but, not only did Modi steal all the credit, he publically showcased it as his historic achivement. Although in reality it is an hollow issue, it challenges a lot of the hollow ground on which Modis support is built especially the narrative that "Congress, Nehru and Indira gave away India’s land and Modi will fight for every inch". The number 10,050 has become both indigestible as well as undefendable for BJP supporters because it is built on the same shallow logic that Modi uses to build up his arguments against Nehru. NB: Bangladesh being a disliked country, makes it all the more difficult for BJP supporters. Secondly it seems like it is hurting BJP in BENGAL and rest of India much more than the little vote percentage they had hoped to increase in TN. Realizing this BJP has gone SILENT on Kutchatheevu.
