I've only put 120 rounds through mine but I think it's as good as any pistol. The DA trigger pull is really not an issue since there's always a round in the chamber. I would like it if the break was a little further forward but that's not a deal breaker. It just gives more reason to go to the range to get used to the pistol. Thanks for posting this video.
I heard about the trigger well before I bought mine, they talked about how bad the double action trigger was. Now tat I have owned and fired my g2 for several months now, I do not get where this is a problem, first the double action is only for the second strike for a hard primer, you will never use it for any other reason. you can not de cock this weapon so when you put a round in it its cocked and that bad trigger pull is no longer there. as for the single action part it does have a long travel on it but it hits the hard spot and functions great plus the reset is really great. Don't let this talk of a bad trigger sway your thinking for the price this gun is hard to beat. I have fired hundreds of rounds through mine of many different brands and it will eat what ever you feed it. I am glad I bought mine and it is my EDC.
I love this gun. Point Blank in my area puts it on sale for $189.00 every other month, so I have two now. My only comment is that the trigger safety on the second one I bought is less forgiving? If I don't hit the trigger safety squarely and depress it 100% with trigger it seems to hang up on safety catch. It seems to be wearing and doing less and less though too. Again love the 12 round mags in a small package, very reliable, nice conceal carry, great shooter etc etc... love it. I have many 9 mm too, S&W 9mm, a 9mm Shield, Walther PPQ, etc. all costing 2 to 3 times what this one did. Still love it more!
I carry the PT111 G2 as my E.D.C. I DON'T disagree with you at all! I've carried for over 40 years and I will say the trigger takes some getting used to! With that said NO issues EVER with mine. Price point? When everyone was in the paranoid mode about gun confiscation was when I was looking for a polymer pistol. I paid around $300 three years ago. Today, $180 on-line on Gun Broker. I am looking at the FNS 9mm or the Sig P320 compact? I just want a more SAO pistol, 5 - 7 lb. trigger fine with me! Great video, Thanks!
I agree 100% with your review and I'm not a big fan of the trigger either. It's the strangest trigger on any DA/SA gun I own. Mine seems to catch a little in the single-action pull process. It eventually gets there but there's a snag/click along the way almost every time. It's such a funky trigger process that it makes it seem cheap or something. I've only fired off about 200 rounds through it so far. All good! I can't find a trigger mod out there to take up that weird long slack so I almost wish it was a double-action only gun at this point. I'm keeping it though :-)
I know what you mean about it catching a little.. Mine does the same thing. Just like you described. I hope it works itself out after some shooting time. Love the gun otherwise .
Understood Seth. I just don't think ANY trigger should hang on ANYTHING in the pulling process. It hasn't misfired on me yet though so I still like it. :-)
I've had my PT709 "Slim" for a couple of years and I just recently bought a PT111 G2. I basically like the functionality of the double action - single action triggers in both guns. I, personally, found the trigger pull once it gets to the "wall" (or break point) to be heavier than I like. With my PT709 "Slim" I did 3 things to improve the trigger pull weight... 1. I slightly stoned the contact points between the striker and the sear 2. I polished the heck out of those same 2 surfaces with my Dremel and some Flitz 3. I replaced my striker spring with a lighter weight Glock striker spring that I already had on hand. Since I like to experiment with various improvements, especially to triggers, I will probably do the same 3 things to my PT111 G2. If it's not reliable with the Glock spring, I can simply put the original back in. YMMV.
I find it if there was a real issue with this trigger, a certain reviewer would be hitting his 200 yard plus gong consistently. It seems most folks don't understand how a striker fired weapon works.
I don't see a real problem with the trigger on this pistol. In single action, while the trigger does have a long take-up, there's hardly ANY resistance until you get to the point where it will break. To me, that adjustment can be remedied by range time and practice. You compared this gun to a Sig. You can buy 2 or 3 of these guns for the price of a Sig. OR you can buy a whole boatload of ammo and practice to become proficient with it as-is, OR if it really bothers you, you could get a new trigger installed that suits you, and you've still saved a lot of money over the price of a Sig. Just my thoughts... Don't worry about people's comments. Some people need to push others down so they feel better about their own misery. Thanks for publishing this video.
+Steve Joyce Thanks for your comment. You're right, I'm sure with range time it'll work itself out, I'm already seeing it. I guess my point is that this is an exceptional pistol for the price, but if the trigger was a bit better I'd be absolutely in love with it. I've had quite a few Taurus so I really enjoy them quite a bit. For the price. This is solid, no doubt. Also, I'm not necessarily trying to compare it to a $700 Sig, but comparatively the DA trigger is tighter and longer than my P250, which goes for about $400. Overall, very very happy with this purchase. I doubt I'll sell it, and it's been very dependable. I'd recommend it to anyone, and have to quite a few people. Appreciate you taking the time to voice your opinion.
+11BArmory Thank you, sir. I bought some snap caps and I dry fire with them a LOT. That has helped me get used to it much faster. I just need to get better at hitting what I'm shooting at!
Don't know. I don't care to find out. I've put about 300 rounds and a lot of dry firing with snap caps through mine and I know how it works, and the trigger has actually softened and feels pretty smooth to me. I'm good with mine.
Haven't fired mine yet, heck, my shield 9 with 8+ 1 rounds is fine, 12 +1 just seemed cool in a small package. Looked up trigger vids just because I had never felt one like the g2 when dry firing. I'm sure it will feel better with live rounds going bang. Good vid.
I own one. You need to show the short reset of the trigger. There is no take take up whatsoever. If you control the trigger you will see how short the reset is and how smooth the gun trigger works. I own other guns with exeunt trggers, my 1911 Colt 45 ACP Gold Cup , Walther PPK and a PT92 also awesome guns and trigger pull. Control the tiger reset and will see how short that reset is. God bless.
I wouldn't really call it a double action. Since you can't decock the pistol, double action is not quite descriptive. What this gun has is the "restrike" feature, which just lets you activate the striker without having to rack. When shooting crap ammo with hard primers, this feature is actually quite awesome. I've used it quite a few times and it saved rounds that would have otherwise been wasted, and I thought "awesome" each time. But with good ammo, it's never really used.
I have the gun. 1st gun owner. don't really know anything but I like it. getting the winchester extreme defender. the tactical shotgun they nolonger make
+Richard Cowtails Nice! And Congrats! I just built out the Mossberg 88 18.5" with the Adaptive Tactical Sidewinder Venom 10 round drum mag. Haven't really posted the process since the mod was a bitch to get right, but love it so far. Less than $550 all in with Hogue pistol grip, red dot and rail. As to the PT111, worth every penny. The trigger isn't really that bad, but there are few pistols at that price range that get everything right. I'd rather it shoot reliably than have a fancy trigger.
+Richard Cowtails +Richard Cowtails Thanks man, appreciate it. Would put up more if I had more money and time! The XDM is nice for sure. Gotta say I love my Glock 21SF though, not really the greatest conceal carry, but as a hip gun it's a tack driver for .45.
11B's are just like us 12B's. We are all really good at being asshole's, and occasionally sounding like dumbasses lol. Great vid. I'm a poor guy, so I just put the G2 on layaway, pick it up in a few weeks so I look forward to getting it to the range. Thank you for your service by the way.
I picked one up today. I was concerned with the amount of take up in the trigger but like everything else about the gun. It is about the size of a Shield but holds 12+1. I want a gun that was easier to conceal. My Glock 19 can be a little too big at times. Someone might come up with a mod to remove some of the take up. I changed the connector in my G19 which removed some of the travel.
watch DangerRangerUSA's video pt 111 mag options. he used taurus 24/7 g2 mags sig p226 mags and even canik tp9 mags successfully. all worked well except the canik mag ddnt hold the slide open after last round was fired. thanx for the video
Dont compare a Glock trigger to a Taurus trigger. G2 trigger is actually just like the Glock 47 after the first pull. The newest Glock trigger will be more like the Taurus trigger because of the FBI new requirements. When you fire the first shot hold back on the trigger and release just a very small amout and it fires short pull after the first. Simple.
you have to train yourself with the trigger, a lot of practice, and over time shooting the gun you will fire the gun without even thinking about the trigger every gun is a little different good video!
i love how everybody uploads videos on youtube complaining about cheap guns LOL, no ones gonna care about the trigger when your pointing it at them. but I do get what ur saying , most guns under 300.00 bucks are sef defense guns that don't have great triggers anyways
Have you found a place to get additional magazines for a reasonable price? Great review. I really love this gun, I think this is a gun for open minded people. I could have easily said glock is popular, gun shopping is done. But I actually used it and made my own judgment and everything has a learning curve, study the firearm and adapt. I want to be a good shooter and not just compensate for what people think is a good shooting gun
Honestly, Midway, Academy and Cheaper Than Dirt all have em, but they're between $23-$30. I've not found anywhere that offers cheap clones, but I guess the price isn't so bad. It comes with 2 so I've just been using those. I can load pretty quickly. Glad you like it. I have a Colt 1911, several Glocks, and another Taurus and I don't get hung up too bad on public opinion before I make a purchase, unless it's just general construction, durability and failure. That's why I don't have a HiPoint.
Your decocker isn't suppose to move while pulling the trigger I have one and was pulling the trigger the same to see if mine did that but it didn't that may become an issue for you but overall I like the gun the long trigger pull does suck but it just takes some time getting used too.
and your still doing it wrong yes first pull is long BUT after that if you would keep ur damn finger on the trigger you would notice the extremely little reset show me a better trigger on a double stack 9mm for what is now 200.00 or less
You went on an on about the trigger and never showed the fact that the pt111 at the time had and has one of the best reset triggers out there that long trigger pull you were bitching about is only the first pull of the trigger all the rest are very short what was said about the trigger out in video land made me think hard about getting one so when I got mine I was happy to see most of the video jockeys didn't shit about pistols and there working's
the long pull is only on the first shot. all the rest are on a sweet short reset. you might want to look at how your pistol was re-assembled because my slide release does not move when the trigger is pulled.
Thanks for the video. I seriously thought I had messed something up when I took it apart
I've only put 120 rounds through mine but I think it's as good as any pistol. The DA trigger pull is really not an issue since there's always a round in the chamber. Your pulling the trigger to the side if you feel that, pull straight back & no click.

have owned taurus for 15 years great guns ass!!!

if you can ride the trigger reset, you're golden. positive feedback
I do like how you brought up a Mercedes vs a 90s ford Sig vs taurus haha
Thank You very informative.

Why do some people just not understand a two stage single action trigger with a double strike capability? It ain't rocket science, and it works fine.
you can't compare Sig Saur to Taurus.. for a budget gun..pt111 trigger easy get used to.. but you should expect more from expensive ass Sig
You lost a potential sub when you started with all the FU's
see ya!
im playing with mine trying to find a way to get a shorter and lighter trigger pull...

Panties in a bunch?
Yeah, I agree. There's no reason to even make a video if you are going to go out of your way to be off-putting to a big chunk of your audience.
er, gghhh. aaaa
I agree, the trigger sucks, that's why I sold mine.
Trigger is GARBAGE
