You know, I know some people have complained about it, but even if Parodius isn't exactly part of Gradius itself I think it should still be included, parody or not because it still is a Konami game that is still part of the Gradius-style SHUMP genre through and through.
@@Persac7 Salamander is actually canon to Gradius. Takes place between the original and Gradius 2. In fact, almost every boss in Salamander (except Fortress Valis) returns in future games. Hell, Zelos Force even made it to Contra Rebirth as the final boss.

Gameplay-wise, I feel that Parodius is a better fit to the Gradius series. Oto X at least feels like a third-rate doujin game.
