- We're back to thrifting and in this video you get to tag along with my mom and me to a famous instagrammer's home decor shop in Hudsonville, Michigan called The Found Cottage! Every inch of this vintage home decor store is an inspiration to behold! I'll also share with you my haul and show you how I styled my new vintage treasures in my old maple home!

Hello and thank you for joining us on this fun vintage hunting shopping trip! I realized later that I forgot to share a couple of my finds in the styled haul! I will put those on Instagram @ oldmaplehome and also in a community post here on RUclips! A few of you requested that I slow down when I film, I do my best… it’s not always easy when I’m capturing real life and am looking at everything for the first time as well. I also don’t use fancy filming equipment, but do slow down as many clips as I can when editing. You can also go into your RUclips video settings and change the playback speed to slow it down even more. I hope all of that is helpful to know! 😊

It's good to go to stores full of beautiful things even if they are priced out of your budget because it teaches you what quality items look and feel like. Then you go thrifting for treasures and items to upgrade.

the tile translate to: As for me and my house, we will serve the lord. Antique shops have high prices, but the people who scour the areas and the yard sales to clean the items up and style them for us to find is not free. I wish I could do what those people do. I do not see the value in things covered in rat poop and filth in a dark barn, but I see the value in them when cleaned up. Thrifting is hit or miss and I never have the time to pop in daily or even weekly to get the good stuff. You are also blessed to have your mom to go shop with you and enjoy the thrill of the hunt, my mom never liked the old stuff and now she has dementia and hardly recognizes her former self. I am enjoying the christmas season through you this year. Merry Christmas!

I typed in the lettering on the lovely little plaque and it is Dutch, it says "Concerning me and my house, we will serve the Lord"..... so perfect for you, as I know you love the Lord as I do!

Love the shop. I used to live in Jenison, was born in Grand Rapids and have family all over that area. I live in Tennessee now for almost 40 years. I remember going to Hudsonville with my grandma many times. Thanks for the memories.

Loved the Found cottage but loved even more the treasures found in thrift stores!!! A little tip though Elizabeth when filming if you move a lot we get a little dizzy… I had to stop a few times to appreciate all the beautiful things and wonderful spirit in your video!!! Bless you 🙏

I saw the video and your haul is fantastic with those French tapestry, is a wow and you did something that I do, if you see a thing and you can afford it knowing that you not gona find it in other place I buy it. You can always find cheaper things at a thrift store just as good
As much as I love thrifting, that’s not always the case. Most things I find at thrift stores aren’t the best quality and can be pretty pricey (at least lately).

I paint my urns in old white Chalk paint. Very nice urns. I have a few of the round tufted pillows. The color you found is lovely. Great ornaments and tapestry. I was hoping you wicks get the framed tapestry. I love it !!!

Wonderful shopping trip. We bet so picked over here in Dallas. The thrift store had nice sleighs. I was surprised. Some nice dishes and I saw a milk glass lamp as well. I was chocked they wanted so much for the chopped Dundee jar. It was chipped! You did great finding yours at an Estate Sale. We don’t get deals much here. All the Estate Sakes are run by professionals now and they are knowledgeable about what they are selling.
Yes, I've noticed that about the estate sales. They are still my favorite though :)

Glad you enjoyed the visit Rhonda. Unfortunately, I didn't pay close attention to the names of the thrift stores in Hudsonville, Mi. We found them easily by just using Google maps though - if you plan on making a trip there.

That shop was really cool ! I loved that you splurged on that stoneware jar - thrifting allows most of us to buy that occasional item that we run across & have to have ! I have a mixture of old & new, probably like most of us, but I get a special joy looking at my thrifted items & knowing that I am loving treasures that someone else loved before me - I hope one day, my beloved items will find new homes - lol - it’s like I’m talking about a pet but I do love the things I’ve spent many years collecting & curating - I remember bringing things home & leaving them outside to rust, too ! But I have gotten really good at creating rusted looks with either paint or those 2 part kits you can buy to create actual rust - have you tried those ? So funny, but I think my favorite thing you bought was the little wooden brush you put by your sink ! Your home is getting more & more beautiful !
Hello, I have tried toilet cleaner and that works very well! I may do that in the summer, when it warms up.
@@oldmaplehome What I use is a two part system by Sophisticated Finishes - one part is a gray paint that has actual iron in it & then you put the activator on & it turns into rust - looks great - most times I do two coats - I get it on Amazon - but I’ve also found a lot of acrylic craft paints that you can do a really good faux rust look

How beautiful! You certainly found some treasures. I’m noticing that thrifting seems to be the “new thing” to new comers…I’ve even heard it making the news headlines lately. Unfortunately, it’s causing prices to go up (like everything else). I’m headed out tonight with my own mother to local thrift “boutique” that gives back to the community. It’s their annual Christmas event with activities for the whole family. Here’s hoping I score some well priced treasures!
Yes, it's becoming trendy... harder to find those one of a kind pieces. I still prefer estate sales and yard sales though to thrifting :)
