Mel, consider getting a white board w/erasable marker at your new location and place it by your main desk area. I use mine daily for items I just need to remember for the day but don't need to write down in a planner for the future. Small, but important, details such as Buyer A gets two lots shipped together, Book B is out of place remember to re-shelve or reclassify before leaving, etc. You'd be amazed how your mind frees up removing these tasks to one area and you have so much more energy, while at the same time giving yourself tremendous comfort and grace of not having to remember all these little important details. At the end of every day I wipe the board clean and it's a sense of accomplishment and it's reassuring knowing I didn't 'forget' anything. It's too easy to misplace small pieces of papers with notes on them and sticky notes fall off so the white board is fantastic. It's also a great way to leave messages for people coming/leaving your warehouse. When you get one, get one with a lip to hold your markers and eraser or have a magnetic cup or something immediately by it so you can keep everything together. Just like the tape dispenser, it's a game-changer.
Mel, this trick may not have worked for the books at 28:16 but when using bubble mailers for tight items, cut a tiny hole on the corner of one bottom end of the package and tight items slight right in, When sealing, put a piece of packing tape on that corner to reseal it. Often it's the captured air at the bottom of the mailer stopping tight fighting items from sliding in. Try it another time, you'll be amazed how great it works.
Mel, a lot of us use a bunch of tape and are over-packers 🤓. I think it's just because we like to make sure things arrive nicely. Carriers have a tough job and items can fall off trucks, get tossed around, etc. and the extra second of time or inch or two of tape shows the customer we appreciate them. Plus you never know when rough weather can pop up at the buyer's location and safe-and-secure is always the better option.
I watched rom start to finish...cleaning the kitchen, reheating leftovers, eating...mand learned a lot, and enjoyed it. Thiscwas a Master Class in inventory and shipping, fascinating to me. Thank you, Mel! And Thom, Patience is a Virtue...especially when Mel is making money making a video!!!!
Hi Mel! Quick question; why don't you put the ikea bag on the table/desk where you are placing the packed books, and put the packed books right in the bag at that time? This would save the step -- instead of placing them on the table and then putting them in the bag in a second step, you'd be putting them in the bag on the table...no bending and no second step.
You have been a great teacher, Mel. It is because of watching your clips on successful selling on Ebay that I've been making sales. Which is not bad since I only started in September. I've also got 2 regular contacts now, so I buy books from them every fortnight. Thank you again ❤
Fantastic video Mel, gave me a 1-hour listing spree of my own items while I watched you. I love your enthusiasm in your videos. Thom reminds me of my husband - gotta be ready when he is ready haha I always tell him an extra half hour than I actually need so hes not rushing me lol
so nice to see you again, lovely interesting video as always, so good to see you and Thom so happy, I keep saying it Mel, you are an inspiration to us all
I prefer paid post as a buyer and seller. As a buyer, I am more likely to buy more things if they combine shipping. As a seller I don't have to do the math on the incorporated postage to figure out if something is worth accepting an offer on. It also attracts less stupid offers usually. But i get why others run a free post model.
Great video. I love it when you tell us how much the book cost, what you sold it for and how you have packed it. I am looking into how to ship my books now. I am not sure to go with boxes or with mailers. Decisions, Decisions!!!!
Looks like you might need to buy some mailer boxes (for the ken follett group) as the price per box is usually cheaper than an ex large satchel postage charge
Hi Mel. That sure was a marathon of a pick and pack. Great sales. I have missed your videos. Nice to see you again. Xxx Joan from sunny and hot Spain.xxxx

I have two of the desktop tape dispensers, but I set mine at an angle, and it works a lot better that way for me.
Yay perfect timing ❤❤❤

are the sold prices you are quoting, including shipping? Nice to see you and Thom.
there’s a section towards top where she mentions all books are sold free shipping and explains why
