  • When we're younger, the desire for money is a huge motivator. It's what gets us out of bed and off to work each day. So what happens when money is no longer the motivator it used to be? What do you do when you have enough?

    I resonate with this message. You can only come to this conclusion, when you have the money, then you realize it’s not all about money. It is time to enjoy the things you accomplished.

    It seems like the overall message of this video is practicing gratitude. I've been doing this as a daily practice on my drives to work recently, listing off all the things I'm grateful for that day. It helps me start the day off on a good foot, taking the time to appreciate the small things, but also recognizing the big things to be grateful for too. Thanks for the small bit of wisdom! Keep 'em coming!

    Wonderful video Peter on gratitude and what you can do when money doesn't motivate you anymore:
    "Get in your car and go for a drive out in the countryside, just you and the road and the landscape.
    Take pictures and breathe in the Wonders around you and appreciate what you have.
    [What you have] were probably dreams at some point in the past."
    Spot on. I love driving but feel like I need a purpose to drive somewhere. Taking pictures is a wonderful excuse. Perhaps its time to dust off the old DSLR?

    • @peterfritzphoto
      @peterfritzphoto  5 месяцев назад

      Absolutely! That's one of the best things about outdoor photography - whether it's landscape or automotive - it gives us an excuse to leave the house.

    This, and a few of your other videos have hit home more than i imagined. I mentioned in another comment that work had become a means to an end i no longer really enjoyed. To make matters worse i compensated for not enjoying work by telling myself i deserved nice cars, none of which i could really afford. Which made the pressure of work greater and prolonged my dependency on it. Just wish i’d had the self awareness to realise this sooner. Thanks Peter for posting this content, yes i adore everything Porsche but as the saying goes the best porsche is the one you can afford 👍

    Funny, I saw a gent in a 997 (methinks) white Carrera S and thought of you. Then I thought of my white 1988 959 (scale 1/36), which sits on my nightstand.
    My mentor gave me the 959 as a gift for my 16 birthday, when I had told him I’d given up on ever experiencing a Porsche, which he knew I loved.
    He taught me that while it was good to work hard, earn a skill, make money, etc. I should never forget to get a life along the way.
    I had almost forgotten his lessons, until the pandemic hit. Then is hit me, like Alan Watts said, enough is as good as a feast. Thank you for this video.

    I am 36, married with a kid on the way. I have owned a 2013 Boxster s for 5 years now. And I just can’t get over how much fun this car affords me. Every time I get in, it’s love. Genuine gratitude to own it- paid all in cash. My wife and I enjoy the mountain roads on this and yes I am genuinely content like you said. Money isn’t a motivator, what motivates is to come back home to a loving family that enjoys and lets me enjoy these wonderful things in life. Im glad I found your channel. Great video as always. I used to want lots of cars and watches but I don’t anymore. I have my scruffy, old 911 and a Speedmaster, and that’s all I really want materially. More time is what I’m after now.

      I so relate, Cory. I'm very content with my 10-year-old Boxster, and I barely look at other cars anymore. My burning desire for a new 911 has all but died, and will only come back to life if I ever accidentally become stupidly rich. As for the Speedmaster, I'm probably going to get a Seamaster Diver or Planet Ocean, and that'll be it. That said, I'm completely enthralled by the manual movement in the Speedmaster. And I like what Jay Leno said about having a manual-wind watch: "I like the fact that it needs me."

Good insight in placing value in relationships and all the things in life that come free, like spending time in natur.
