Thanks for another great review. I used your code and ordered the normcore tubes. They were expensive for plastic but now I can make my coffee so much faster, weighing the beans each time took so much time! Really helpful when I’m working and I only have 5 minutes before my next call to my espresso fix 😂 actually love them!
Hi Jack, hope all is well! Glad to hear that you are enjoying them. They are really nice and they do save the time. Hope you will keep enjoying them along your VS3 🤍☕️😊
Genius idea of putting the set on the scale while filling the tubes. Somehow I had it in my mind to fill each one on the scale instead. 🤦 Learn something new everyday. Thanks.
I have weber glass tubes since approx. August 2022 (I had them as part of their campaign for Weber Key), and I'm no longer using them... Only some of the tubes were greased correctly, so they were very hard to open, and about 6 or 7 have cracked since I got them (and I haven't dropped any of them!).
They are nice, but super expensive. Alternate option is to buy 50ml lab tubes. You can buy a carton on 500 tubes for around 120-150AUD. I highly rate them. If it is good enough for scientists to use for cryo, then it's good enough for me.
Hi there, fir freezing scenarios, we couldn't agree more. Also, some people don't care about the look that much. The idea of those tubes is that to have something elegant to fit the style of your elegant coffee set-up 🤍☕️
Does it not matter that these containers don’t vacuum out the air? Larger storage options like the Fellow Atmos suggest it is important to vacuum out the air for storage. I think I want individual cellars with valves and vacuums… Does such a product exist, and would the vacuums be necessary if I’m storing these in a freezer? Thanks.
Hi there, in the Freezer not that much, but you must to consume the coffee instantly once you get it our from there. The idea behind these is to save time while making sure the coffee is not degrading in the week you are going to consume it.
Hoped for the video to contain those expensive tubes with a "pressure release button thing" and compare them to just normal tubes (as are in the video)
I ordered the Normcore coffee vaults based on your video. They just showed up. None of the caps have a working valve, no air flows in either direction through the cap value regardless of high or low pressure. It would be really nice if you tested the valves and confirmed which coffee vault valves worked as advertised, and which ones did not. I definitely feel like I overpaid for 12 plastic tubes without working valves.
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. First of all, we would like to briefly mention the idea behind the one way valve in these tubes. Generally speaking, if the coffee is extremly fresh and you place the beans inside the tube and there is no way air can exist, either the tube will break or the sealing in the cap will break. Basically, the valve is a saftey measure. In a matter of fact, many coffee rosters don't have one way valve in their 250g coffee bags as keep those gases longer will improve the freshness of the coffee, at least in that small space of a 250g bag until it gets consumed. Of course coffee be degased in the roastery for a few days prior to packing them. The one way valve in the Normcore cap is a pin point and we doubt you will be able to feel air release by manual blowing in it. The main idea of having single dose tubes as mentioned in the beginning of the video is to elevate the practicality of your daily routine and have your pre-dosed espresso shot ready. Hope this was helpful. Have a lovely weekend! 🤍☕️
I made a set of my own with small 50-60ml glass containers from a arts & crafts store. They don't have de-gassing valves, but I make sure to place coffee in there only after they've fully de-gasses after a roast. I'd love to upgrade to a set like the tinted Normcore in the future though.
im not sure which version of weber bean cellar I got but through time the cap got so loose. I've been putting it in the freezer though. Now they are kinda all useless
Hi there, sorry to hear about that. We wouldn't say that durability is their strong suit. We personally did not enjoy using them as we don't wish to keep worrying about them with each use.
They are all made from foodgrade safe plastic, apart from the weber glass ones. We wouldn't advise placing the glass ones from Weber in the freezer in the first place, tou would definitely want to get the Weber Polymer ones for that purpose and the bulk order of them will make more sense. Alternatively, you can use laboratory plastic tubes, the ones with a cap. So many coffee friends use them for the freezer and they make more sense. Much cheaper and will get the job done 🤍☕️
@@ourcoffeeshelter well, i really wish to try frozen coffee beans experiment. I heard that grinding a frozen coffee beans will giving a better proper grinding and keeping the coffee flavour rich than usual. Well, i am not pro barista but somehow making coffee is really interesting for me 😁.
I love your short videos but your longer format videos are great too! Never cared for bean cellars but getting an itch now… those Weberworkshops are stupid expensive- $320usd… no thanks.
Thank you for the kind words, it means a lot ☕️🤍👏 We would say they are definitely not a must. It is just a matter of convenience if you are in a rush in the morning, otherwise, you can just use small 250g bags on a daily bases. Both ways your coffee will be delicious 💯🤍☕️
Disappointing that most of these are clear when trying to minimize exposure to light. Any suggestions for cheaper (not coffee specific) options that are a non-transparent metal, glass, or plastic?
You can always consider Labgrade plastic tubes. Many coffee friends use them, but we are not sure where to find. You can search one this form, many people will be happy to recommend: www.home-barista.com/ That being said, none will be as beautiful as those ones we reviewed. Tinted Normcore are really cool and are very durable 🤍☕️
Two concerns that come to mind ..the beans will be exposed to natural light throughout the day ; a no no for coffee beans..at least where I have my setup. I suppose then I can just stick them in the cupboard away from the light…. so then why spend so much money on these lovely looking tubes in nice wooden stands when they’re hidden away and not to be seen? Secondly, and well, perhaps I’m being a bit OCD here, I’d be concerned of the plastic from the tubes leaching onto the beans…over time, due to the natural oils and acid from the beans. These are called micro plastics that we can absorb and are hormone disruptors. So, I would prefer glass storage in this case.
The Resin tubes aren't great because, over time, the plastic scent starts to show more, thus influencing the beans' final taste. Ideally, go for the glass tubes, they last much longer.
They are definitely not a necessity, we did mention in the beginning that it will basically save you the trouble of pre-dosing each day and have your dose ready waiting for you. The aim was to compare the available options in the market. Hope you have enjoyed the video 🤍☕️😊
Hi there, we try to run Giveaways as much as possible, and we aim to review tools as much as possible, basically anything on the side will be swapped to get new items to review and help a wider range of coffee friends 🤍☕️
all are overpriced. laboratory tubes have a higher quality control check then this tubes are cheaper unfortunately there is less capacity . i hve ones where you can put 15 g stadard sized beans
Honestly your video contents were much better than Lance Hendrick and Morgan Eckroth. Those two were noobs pretending to be pro. You should do more long and independent depth videos to attract more followers.
Are you brain damaged? Lance has a ton of experience in the coffee industry and makes some of the most detailed coffee videos in YT constantly citing his sources for his claims. Morgan is also very experienced as well but doesn’t dive deep as Lance does.

Is it ok to freeze coffee with a tube that has a one way valve?
Hi there, you can definitely do that. It might be better considering buying plastic lab tubes which are much more affordable and will do the job 🤍☕️

Which of these are suitable for the freezer?
Normcore, Weber Rasin, and Craig lyn. Buying lab tubes would be cheaper and more logical in that case ☕️🤍
I bought those square ones but they barely hold 25g I need ones that hold 30g but seem impossible to find
Hi there, the ones from Normcore should hold more than 25g, but if you are filling really dark roasts, then they won't hold that much
@@ourcoffeeshelter thanks for the reply

Its funny that not a single one of these are opaque. Does Weber Labs not know that sunlight is like the primary reason that coffee beans go stale ?
