Richard is a master certified expert and user of toilets.
May be a nice looking & H20 saving toilet. However, to replace the Fill Valve, you have to remove the tank, connect the new Fill Valve & remount the tank. Unlike any other toilet, you cannot reach the Fill Valve nut, because of the toilet Skirt.
Dear Fastener Companies,
Please stop making flat head screws
Signed,
Everyone
I don't understand why they still use that inferior design.
I thought the same, why a flat head?, why..??
Amen! lol
+linkinprk1981
Why do those even exist?!
Exactly what I was thinking lmao
Thank you Richard. Concise, boom, boom, done!
excellent explanation of all material. thank you so much, you were so beneficial.
I just moved into a home with dual flush toilets in all four bathrooms and I was so amazed by it, you would’ve though there was witchcraft involved lol.
Beautiful video
Nice flip phone Richard! Keepin it old school
Flip phones aren't old school a lot of people cannot afford or even use modern smartphones.
Is drilling at an angle other than 90 degrees optional for this installation?
Is there a link out there where I would be able to print out the layout paper @0:58 ? Would greatly be appreciated!
So that tank is supposed to be right up against the wall?
Pretty soon that will be the North American standard toilet. We gotta start saving water.
And start flushing with grey water.
Do we tho?
@@michaelesposito2629 I live on the East Coast of Canada and even we had a drought this summer, so yeah we do.
@Jack Myhre My newest landlord installed a low flush toilet in February when he rebuilt my bathroom. He installed for two reasons, 1. was cost, about $200 here in Saint John at Home Depot and 2. the water bill was high, mainly because they tried using wells instead of lakes for the city water, problem was there was too much draw on the wells and salt water was being drawn in, so the city limited the number of homes on the wells and switched the rest of us to a softer water supply from the East side of the City. Should have stayed with the lakes. The well water was so bad it ate the anode rods in the water heaters that the city owned electric supplier had installed.
Which particular toilet model is this represented in the video?
TOTO Model #CST416M Aquia II 2-Piece 0.9/1.6 GPF Dual Flush Elongated
Sorry, guess I'm old school because I don't like the way that toilet installs. But I do appreciate you showing me how if I'm forced to buy one!
Actually toilet has a two types are one piece or two piece. That one the plumber tutorial is for two-piece.
"Simplify, simplify..." - Henry David Thoreau
OK. No pre-drilled hole in the mounting blocks, no mention of drilling tap holes and, following the template, the toilet mounting holes barely touch the back edge of the mounting block.
How's this supposed to work?
The guy at the end was just holding the porcelain all this time.
Bro put your gloves on
All water saving toilets are crap, after a 3 year search I finally found a 70's commode in a neighbors storage building and he gave it to me free. He didn't know what a treasure he had! i'll still be on the lookout for any I can find and store them.
Most of Europe is using dual flash toilets and are doing just fine, don't you think. And alternative beside 70s toilet can be also go out and mingle with the nature ;)
no, these work really well, no problems in 5 years.
@@roninseattle The American Standard dual flush takes multiple flushes.
I'm going to keep my old 3-gallon tank and just get a new bowl section. I'm trying to confirm the holes will still match up.
@@weelgunny The new bowls flush like crap even if they use more water. I would recommend keeping your old one.
Dual flush...hold the handle.
Wow. That doesn't match at all. I really hope this didn't replace a blue one.
Owen Cowan it did
@@erickmorton8085 That's absolutely horrible.
@@OCC_Plumbing_and_RestorationsI agree the dual-flush toilet is POS I wish the blue toilet was still there
Never install one of these toilets they’re horrible
They are more environmentally friendly by using far less water which is a big difference to the old style toilets
@@stephensnell1379 They are still terrible. It is worse for the environment to replace your toilet than to keep your old one.
Dude yes I hate these kind of toilets instead of easy 123 and get out its like 4x6x8 get out.
@@OCC_Plumbing_and_Restorations they save far more water than the old style toilets
@@stephensnell1379 That's the biggest lie I've ever seen. I used to own a 1.28 "water saver" toilet and it took 5+ flushes for solid waste. Do you know how much water that is? It's 6.4 gallons. The toilet that I replaced the "water saver" toilet with uses 3.5 gallons which is just over half the consumption of the "water saving" toilet. Oh also the 3.5 gallon toilet gets it all in one flush.
Someone always has to reinvent the wheel.
???? WAX SEAL ????
In Europe we use rubber.
Lasts longer and doesn't have to be roo tempeture.
MsUltrafox ; they also make and sell rubber seals. Old school plumbers still use wax seals. There is a reason for that. Reliability. Once in place, they never leak or breakdown over time. Rubber can dry and crack over time, as seen in rubber seals and gaskets used in cars. When he mention room temperature. It does help, but is in no way necessary.
Actually rubber dries out and cracks over time.
Wax will be much better.
@@stephensnell1379
Actually the drain of the toilets here in Europe is not flush, they're proud, so the gasket is actually only gripping on the sides of the drain of the toilet and the pipe. The gasket won't make direct contact with the water. And it is some special rubber. My parents changed one of their toilets 25 years ago, still without any leakage. Our toilets are completely different, they don't have this syphon jet principle. They just have a standard trap

The toilet drain connector, the gasket is grey in this case:

Richard used one of these toilets in this episode here, he had no other choice then using a european style toilet:
ruclips.net/video/tatkojgzc80/видео.html
@Marcell Germann British UK toilets work by means of using a siphon and UK ones also have the waste pipe going out through the wall not the floor which is better than how they do it in the US especially if a leak ever developed
🤢 0:30 to 0:51
This dual-flush toilet is boring and junk the blue toilet is way better then this piece of junk boring dual-flush toilet.
Overly complicated for literally no reason
Gotta pull the toilet off that pos flange adapter just to tighten the seat if it ever comes lose. What pile of ugly junk
Straighten ur drill when you drill,.....
